For all the jokes about Oregon being a rich hippy state, there’s always been a really dark bunch of good ole boys just a hair trigger from going full-on white nationalist. Weirdo anti-government types, illiterate homeskoolers, welfare ranchers, fur trappers, gunhumpers… all armed to the teeth and batshit crazy. The Bundys had a lot of support there.
