I find this observation interesting, because it harmonizes with a long-standing observation I have about US āconservatismā: that it doesnāt care about consent, or simply doesnāt understand the concept.
Itās the basis of their whole understanding of the unified depravity of ābadā sexuality, but itās also their out whenever one of them does something ugly.
The foundation of their belief system is that a man is the only party whose consent matters. Thus spousal rape is a myth because marriage vows = consent, date rape also being a myth because ārealā rape involves violence, and the idea that the vast majority of accusations of rape where one or both parties are white are āfalseā because the woman ācried rapeā to avoid social stigma of having per-marital sex.
