re: #92 dangerman

as you all know,
- dangermom (my mom) lives 8 miles from us. she’s 92
- mrsdm is extremely high risk due to her lung condition and surgery a couple of years back. doc says she should be following the rules with zero tolerance, after all it’s a respiratory infection.

except for me driving her to a doctor now and again, mom never goes out. she’s got real good at watching zoom lectures.

i go over to mom’s every wednesday with groceries
mrsdm and i bring take out every sunday (cause we’re toast after ponding all day)

we never touch mom. we dont wear masks

we do eat at a small-ish kitchen table.

we think we’ve created a fairly good operational ‘pod’ of the three of us.
sure anything could happen. we’re very careful at home and ‘assume’ the protocols we’ve been following (and what we have not been doing) has been working.

mrsdm’s parents (also 92 and 93) live in NJ.
we’ve missed both their birthdays, a wedding last week that they were at, and there won’t be our annual pilgrimage to NJ and Massachusetts this holiday season.
i’ve gone over lots of scenarios on how to get her safely to NJ and back. - driving, renting an RV, flying, whatever.

there is no way that doesnt significantly risk getting mrsdm infected, or infecting her parents, or bringing something back and infecting dangermom.

as much as it hurts, it’s just not worth it.
‘doing nothing’ is not easy.
it is best.
