The first 2 centuries of the Presbyterian Church was pretty much indistinguishable from that the Wahabis did to Sunni Islam. John Calvin’s spin on Christianity = Muhammad Abd-al-Wahab’s spin on Islam. Both parties wanted to get back to ol’ time religion, preach hellfire and brimstone, distance themselves from decadant and distant royal powers, and preferred fightin to not fightin.

My point - today the Presbyterians are the most tolerant, bland, and ‘establishment’ denomination on the Erf, except for possibly the Episcopalians. If we can make that total change in culture and emphasis in about 2 centuries, so can they, given the right incentives and environment.
