Of course they didn’t. The current administration and congress is in complete and total denial of the root of the problem. I did not see one peep about repealing the Community Reinvestment Act and I’m sure Barney Frank still has nothing but good things to say about FRE and FNM.

Again, you are spot on. On today’s DT - thread re FireFox, another LGFer warned everyone that as now written AND PASSED by the House of Reps, the new Cap and Trade bill will require all homeowner to meet certain minimium standards of envrionmental purity: double paned glass windows, storm doors, addition insulation etc. etc., ALL as certified by a contractor licenesed by the EPA BEFORE THE HOMEOWNER CAN PUT THE HOUSE ON THE MARKET. So all those folks hoping to “downsize” or facing foreclosure will - not may - will get fucked on this. If you don’t have enough dough to pay your mortgage and taxes and insurance (like, say, you recently lost your job) somewhere you may have to come up and spend more money to make your home more “envrionmentally friendly”. The LGFer gave a link to that particular part of the bill as amended by Waxman but I’m afraid I can’t remember who the LGFer was or what the link was.
