re: #142 David IV of Georgia

At church I was surprised to see someone wearing a keffiyah. Then I noticed that it was printed all over with the words:

שאלו שלום ירושלם

“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.” Psalm 122:6

How do you pronounce that first Hebrew word? Is the vav to be read as a consonant or as a vowel place-holder when it’s at the end of a word, as here?

(The shlom yroslm part I can figure out!)
