If the bit wrench wench just quoted about how he was asked to dress is correct, as well as how he was received by the audience, I’d say he was invited precisely for racist reasons, one of them being (probably the main one) that it would enable them to employ “Haha, see, it wasn’t a racist event because we had a black person on our panel” as a defense.
Which is what you’re doing here.
