Hamas to halt rocket attacks on Israel

GAZA CITY, Gaza, April 6 (UPI) — Israel won’t have an excuse to launch a major Gaza offensive because Hamas has decided to continue its suspension of rocket attacks, sources in Gaza City say.

The sources told The Jerusalem Post Hamas and several other Palestinian factions held emergency meetings recently about the need to maintain an unofficial cease-fire.

The groups agreed to stop firing rockets at Israel, the sources told the Post.

GAZA CITY, Gaza, April 7 (UPI) — Six Palestinians were injured Wednesday when mortar shells fired at Israel landed instead in Palestinian territory, Gaza emergency sources say.

One of the shells hit a house in the northern Gaza Strip town of Beit Hanoun, starting a small fire, Israel’s Haaretz newspaper reports.

The mortar attack comes just two days after Hamas and three armed Palestinian factions announced a voluntary moratorium on rocket attacks.
