I doubt it’s that well thought out. He can’t speak about specific threats so he probably just made something up.

But that’s exactly my point - this wasn’t thought out at all. Cain’s spokesman just reacted without thinking; if he had thought about it, he might have realized that blaming this on the media wasn’t a great idea.

Or maybe not. These people are rank amateurs.
