US Men’s Soccer Thinks Women’s Team Deserves *More Than* ‘Equal Pay,’ Since They’re Better (Wonkette)

The question is “bums/butts on seats” and TV rights and sponsorship. That’s what pays salaries and benefits to soccer players and, sadly, the women’s soccer game is well behind that of the men’s game around the world (and even in the US) in terms of popularity and filled stadiums at a thousand bucks a ticket. No cash = no salary checks. Just being good at something doesn’t mean the money is there to pay someone who is world-class.
