Whomever it started with, they had to go through London’s Heathrow Airport to get there…

Not necessarily. A lot of international flights from Scotland going long-distance use continental hubs, not Thiefrow or other English airports. On my trips abroad over the past couple of decades I’ve flown from Edinburgh airport to Schiphol in the Netherlands, Charles de Gaulle in France and even Finnish and Italian airports to catch an onward flight to places like Narita or Montreal. Only once did I fly from Heathrow and that was only because I happened to be in the London area at the time.

Heathrow isn’t like Hartsfield, it just seems like that to outsiders.
