You’ve obviously never tried driving through DC.

Believe me: you don’t want to take your car anywhere, even if you happen to have on sitting in the motel parking lot. You find the nearest metro station and let them deal with the traffic, and don’t even get me started on parking. And trying to navigate and park anywhere within miles of the Mall? Please.

If 90% of the people in attendance drove their own cars - even assuming the low end of estimates - the resulting gridlock would have made the national news.

I’ve driven around DC many’s the time…hectic, yes…but it’s not impossible
