re: #86 NJDhockeyfan
I know what you mean. I was unemployed for 4 months 4 years ago and collected unemployment for the first time in my life. I hated every minute of it. I must have averaged 10 applications a day until I found my current job.
I gave up for a while. I’ll be five years unemployed come July. It’s an odd congruence of factors in my case. The largest is a HUGE glut of people in my professions.
The thing that really annoys me the most about it is that I was offered two jobs within the first six months. The first was for half what I’d been earning and lower than any other employee at the site. So I counteroffered, asking for some additional benefits in lieu of salary. They said goodbye. The second same thing, I said I’d take it, they decided I wasn’t aggressive enough because I didn’t counter-offer.
It is more than a little frustrating when the lesson you learn from (a) gets you removed from the list for (b).
