At the risk of a level of repetition that merits a drinking game…the basis of their epistemology is affiliation. Something’s true because a person who’s an in-good-standing group member said it.
If a statement that is “true” by the affiliation standard doesn’t hold when tested against reality, the choices are to
- abandon the entire epistemological framework that on-side equals True.
- claim that reality is wrong…since an on-side claim is True, any contradiction of an on-side claim must involve falsification and/or conspiracy to obfuscate.
- retroactively claim that the affiliation bond was a sham—the claimant was not Of The Body—so being on-side remains a measure of veracity.
