I’ve never understood why anyone would buy fake Twitter followers. I assume some desire to both appear influential and to stroke one’s own ego.

Whenever Instagram does one of its periodic purges of fake/spam accounts, people scream and wail, and I always think, yay, fewer spambots for me to report… :/
