Breaking news is one of those places where you have to be aware of your own biases. Extremely aware. So many folks fail at this on a regular basis.

I generally try to observe the 24-hour rule on breaking news. I try not to weigh in too much with speculation or opinion until more of the facts have been established. But it’s so tempting, dammit!
