He handed in his resignation today as Primeminister, and his successor Lars Lokke Rasmussen was appointed by Queen Margrethe II to take over and form a new government. Still Centre right (thank god).

It is true that the Turks did get some promises from them pointing to Anders Fogh as secretary general, the deal was like the ones you see in the Turkish Bazar.

However in the process of not backing mr. Rasmussen, they scored a serious own goal> their acceptance into EU is now further away than ever, and in the process they showed an absolute misunderstanding of how NATO and EU operate!

All major european countries France, UK, Germany and ITaly backed mr. Rasmussen as NATO sec. general.

I follow your blog regularily Charles but with this issue I think you are a bit off.
