True, but the same preachers who rally Detroit-area black people against police brutality are the ones protesting the Satanists. In part because they sincerely believe that the Satanists’ anti-authority message is disastrous for young people, who need moral authority to keep them out of the kind of trouble that increases the risk of them encountering hostile police.

And lastly, this scrimmage relevant as it is an inter-Democratic scrimmage. There is a left-right dynamic and a racial dynamic being played out, to be sure, but they are playing out inside the group of constituencies of The Democracy.* I’d like your thoughts on that.

*: “The Democracy” is an old nickname for the Democratic Party. I like to use it sometimes as a counterpoint to the Republican Party’s nickname of the Grand Old Party (GOP).
