That is an unsound line of thinking. It is far more accurate to judge a religion primarily based on what it is doing now than to give equal weight to what it did 500 years ago. I can’t believe i have to say that out loud.

So I’ll just judge Christianity based on the Huatree nuts? Or maybe the guy who shot George Tiller to death in the name of Jesus? Or maybe in the name of the Mormon polygamists who commit their sexual abuses in the name of Jesus?
