Onion: UN Acquires Nuclear Weapon

Humor • Views: 2,225

Our worst fears have come true: U.N. Acquires Nuclear Weapon.

NEW YORK—The United Nations, a highly organized governing body bent on world peace, has obtained a nuclear warhead and intends to use the dangerous device to pursue its radical human rights agenda, sources reported Monday.

The U.N. Headquarters in New York has flags from all over the world and enough uranium to wipe Israel off the map.

News of the nuclear weapon first surfaced late last week when the United Nation’s own watchdog group, the International Atomic Energy Agency, released startling new satellite photos of the uranium-based device. Shortly thereafter, U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon issued a short and brazen list of demands, calling on all nations to “bow down at once to social progress.”

“Tremble before the awesome might of this cooperative assembly of appointed representatives,” said Ban, boldly holding a stack of diplomatic resolutions in his hand. “At last, when the United Nations calls for the development of more sustainable agricultural practices, the world at large will listen.”

Added Ban, “We will no longer be ignored.”

The warhead, an Oralloy U-235 thermonuclear detonator encased in a long-range ballistic missile, is believed to be currently housed beneath the parking lot of the U.N. complex in New York. According to Pentagon officials, it is likely that the United Nations has already tested the weapon, and may in fact be prepared to deploy it if its demands for global harmony are not met.

The UN has obtained a nuke, eh? Wonderful.

I can only wonder how they'll screw that up.

Time for the UN to move to Fwance.

Several of the United Nation's demands to save countries from U.N. Nuclear obliteration:

1. You will increase the number of mosques in your country by 250%

2. Terrorist organizations must now be referrred to as "Freedom Fighter Resistance Movements"

3. If your country has nuclear warheads, you can buy "Uranium Offsets" which are described as: insurance points against U.N. force - these equate to $1,000,000 per nuclear weapon you have.

These lefties have no idea how it sticks in my craw when they say things like "we won't be bullied into following the Geneva convention". Even in jest.

Unlike the totalitarians they admire, we _do_ follow Geneva.

Except when it comes to non-uniformed combatants. We are too nice to them. Geneva, raw, would have us execute them on capture.

NYC could buy its own nukes, and a nifty delivery system, if they could somehow collect on all the unpaid parking tickets owed by UN aristocrats.

They should be executed upon capture. Non uniformed combatants cause most of the civilian deaths, Which is, why I imagine the Geneva conventions call for their immediate execution. Political correctness has no place in a war. I don't think it has much of a place in society in general.

What does the Onion for Concerned Scientists have to say about this?

46 gmsc  Sun, Jan 18, 2009 3:28:39pm

From Coyote Blog's entry Un-Freaking-Believeable:

A month ago, the Arizona Cardinals mailed me (as a season ticket holder) my playoffs tickets. I usually don’t advertise myself as an Arizona Cardinals season ticket holder, just because numerous academic studies have demonstrated that this fact is not highly correlated with the average person’s perceptions of intelligence.

Because of logistics and time limitations, when one gets NFL playoff tickets one typically gets a ticket for every possible game the team could play in. Because there was an oddball small statistical chance the Cardinals could host an NFC championship game if a) the Cardinals won two playoff games, which has never happened in franchise history and b) all the top 3 seeds lost, they sent me NFC championship game tickets. My son and I literally laughed out loud when we saw them. Hosting an NFC championship game with a franchise that has not hosted any sort of playoff game for 60 years seemed, well, laughable.

Well, I just ran to my desk to make sure I actually kept the tickets, because with the Eagle’s win today the Cardinals will actually be hosting the NFC championship game next week. Go Cards!

Some Broward County buses bear this message: "ISLAM: The Way of Life of Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad." The $60,000 ad was paid for by the Council on American-Islamic Relations, which says it aims to educate non-Muslims.

Should Broward County allow these ads on its buses?
(_)Yes. This is a free country.
(_)No. The county should not be involved in religious advertising.
(_)I'm undecided on this issue.

So, these are the only choices. Either "it's a free country", and we allow lying imperialist asshole CAIR da'wa, or, no church should ever be allowed to advertise with any message at all. Fuck you, Sun-Sentinel.

Well, the right of the people to keep and bear arms presumably does not exclude nuclear arms...

I always recall a story I once read about a U.S. or Brit unit going through some area in Afghanistan some years back, doing a cash-for-weapons trade. One man had a Soviet tank in his yard, and he wouldn't sell it to them because it was a trophy of war taken by his late brother.

Brother must have been one hell of a fighting man, that is ALL I have to say about that.

I personally believe that the 'well-regulated militia' aspect is important to a good understanding of the second amendment, and have a whole little plan for local militia organization based around that, but heck, I don't know if I want the Richmond, CA militia to have a nuke...it would probably be fired off on New Years Eve, just to celebrate.

rules for competant heros
I will maintain no association with sidekicks who employ prostitutes. While such entertainment doubtlessly relieves my comrade of the wearying burden of the Heroic Struggle, the women met in this fashion tend to filch artifacts needed to defeat the Evil Overlord, act as his spies and/or assassins, carry unpleasant diseases, and (worst of all) get me in trouble with my True Love.

I will ignore the Evil Overlord's arguments revolving around honor and/or morality. If he were really all that worked up about either, he would never have become an Evil Overlord in the first place.

When the Evil Overlord takes hostages, I will presume the hostages dead and hold a memorial service. Any promises made by the Evil Overlord regarding their safe return shall be summarily ignored. My loved ones will be warned to expect this.

I will not walk alone and undisguised into a bar in the Evil Overlord's territory in order to meet with an ex-associate who said a bunch of damaging things about me in one of the Evil Overlord's propaganda pieces.

When the Evil Overlord is hanging on the cliff by his fingers, I will not try to help him up. If time and means are available, I'll kill him then and there.

When I am advised to destroy a magical artifact taken from the Evil Overlord, I will do so.

Anyone inquiring after the secret of my strength will be fed a line of plausible baloney as to how this strength can be lost. If the bogus advice is followed, the leak shall be properly investigated.

If an associate begins to transform into something large and threatening, I will immediately act to neutralize the threat, and not wait until the transformation is complete. Likewise, if an enemy begins to metamorphosize into something else, I will immediately start whacking away at it, instead of watching in fascination.

I will take no oath of unquestioning obedience, nor any oath of obedience to persons of unproved character.

I will reveal to each comrade a different clue for distinguishing me from an impostor, so that if one of them betrays me and an impostor is sent in my place, the others will still be able to catch on to the charade.

I will never assume that an enemy is dead unless the remains are available for examination, and will keep in mind the possibility of cloning technology or resurrection magic.

I will employ some manner of surveillance so that when I leave a room and a traitorous comrade gives me the Malicious Scowl or Wicked Leer to my back, I will have ample warning of his impending betrayal.

Self-appointed prophets who deliver elliptically-worded warnings will be politely asked to phrase their utterances in plainer terms. If said prophet refuses the request, a five-year-old child will be asked to explain the meaning of the prophecy.

I will waste no time trying to get the rich to join in my rebellion. The only way to stay rich in the Evil Overlord's realm is to collaborate with him, and any rich people who truly feel guilty about this will serve the rebellion better by not openly joining.

New Obama polls

They say they'll give him two years to improve the economy, but I wonder.

This poll is hilarious:

Of those surveyed, 79 percent were optimistic about the next four years under Obama, the highest level of goodwill attained by any of the past five incoming presidents.

Most Americans told The Times that they did not expect real progress in improving the economy, reforming the health care system or ending the war in Iraq -- three of the central promises of the Obama campaign for at least two years.

So basically, there optimistic because they think Obama won't do anything he promised to do.

HAHAHAHA

I honestly think that there is no provision to limit what weapons an American citizen may have according to the 2nd Amendment, nor was any limit meant or implied by those who wrote and ratified the Amendment. I think that this Amendment was not primarily to allow grandpa to go kill a turkey nor for a civilian National Guard. It was written so that citizens could arm themselves adequately and organize to resist and defeat tyranny both domestic and foreign.

I agree with your opinion. Each person in this society was/should be responsible for the protection of his/her family, and property against others, including government. Fences make good neighbors, and guns make a peaceful society. However, even I think nukes should have some type of training course. Maybe a five hour class, or something, you know? I mean, you shouldn't have to be a nuclear scientist any more than you should have to be a weapons engineer to own a handgun, but a rudimentary understanding of the concepts of nuclear fusion would be a good idea, imho. Also, we should have a law that makes it mandatory to keep the plutonium in a locked box away from the bomb structure itself. That way no kids could set it off accidentally. Avanti, the country is basically insane right now. 1/3 of Americans think 9/11 was an inside job Assuming that none of these folks voted for the republicans, that's half of the Democrats voters.

Can you explain that?

I can't, but I will add two comments:

Don't assume all of them voted,

Don't assume none of them voted for Republicans.

I had a whole classful of teenage troofers last year, this was before I bailed from Moonbat Academy. (This school...O God, this school. It was...amazing.) We spent a lot of time working on critical thinking skills. It was exhausting.

Good point. The reason Al Gore is payed millions and millions of dollars to tout the Global Warning scam is that he lends it "credibility". Without the Gore stamp of approval, nobody of any import would dare to publicly indulge their apocalyptic weather fantasies.

Gore is doing it for the money, IMO. He's going to make a fortune in the "Carbon Credit" business.....a modern day Joe Kennedy

There will be only one main going in, the rest are offshoots from the main. Your meter should not be making weird noises, check that and make sure it is not spinning madly, which would indicate either a faulty meter, or a leak somewhere.

Sorry, no can do. If the UN is to fulfill it's mission (world peace) it should be located in the City of Peace. Given that Jerusalem is a holy city to all three of the world's major religions and is a bone of contention between two of them, it only follows that the place for the UN should be right smack dab in the middle of it. I have other reasons, but this will do for a start.

The media buys some time for BHO so he doesn't have to keep those pesky campaign promises.

The poll found that two-thirds of respondents think the recession will last two years or longer -- midway through Obama's four-year term as its 44th president.

Isn't it a coincidence that Bush has already negotiated a two year withdrawal? Bush was trashed even though it's exactly what they are now willing to give BHO. Bush did all the heavy lifting and B Hussein will get all the credit.

As we further transition security responsibilities to the Iraqi Security Forces, military commanders will continue to move U.S. combat forces out of major populated areas so that they are all out by June 30, 2009. *
The Security Agreement also sets a date of December 31, 2011, for all U.S. forces to withdraw from Iraq. This date reflects the increasing capacity of the Iraqi Security Forces as demonstrated in operations this year throughout Iraq, as well as an improved regional atmosphere towards Iraq, an expanding Iraqi economy, and an increasingly confident Iraqi government.

You will hear weird noises from the meter until they get the main fixed. The snow is your friend. It is actually acting as insulation and keeping the ground temperature stabilized. Keep at least one tap open for when they get the problem fixed. The last thing you want is air trapped in the line when water pressure increases.

So some of you deniers out there that doubted this post yesterday and doubt that the "miracle" on the Hudson is actually a government staged sideshow, I have more proof.

And this proof is scientific!

Last night I did an experiment that proves the conspiracy, and you can do the same experiment. I took a glass of water and put it in my freezer over night. The next morning (8 hours later) the water was FROZEN.

Well it turns out that the freezing point of water is 32 degrees (that link is to MIT by the way, in case any of you doubters doubt my science!). The temperature in New York City was 21 degrees F when that plane "crashed". And it had been less than 32 degrees for more than the 8 hours that it took water to freeze in my freezer!

SO IF THE PLANE "SPLASHED" INTO THE HUDSON IT WOULD BE THE FIRST TIME IN HISTORY THAT WATER DIDN'T FREEZE AT 32 DEGREES!

One might also wonder why a tin pot dictator like Mugabe has not been deposed by the civilized world. The UN's respect for post-Rhodesian sovereignty is in stark contrast to their disdain for Israel's right to even exist without constantly being threatened with annihilation.

They are probably afraid of Mugabe's wife:

Without a doubt..... a chance of a lifetime, regardless of who is the Pres-elect. There are times in your life you have the chance to do something that, if you pass up that chance, you look back and kick yourself. When i was 14 years old a friend of my older sister asked me if I wanted to go with er and her boyfriend to a music concert. She said she would bring me back the next day. My parents weren't the.... doting type, so, yes, i could have gone, but i didn't want to miss school....lol. Yeah, that's right...Woodstock!

Well it would be good for the UN to walk the walk of living surrounded by the ROP. They could see first hand who the aggressor is. On the other hand, they could fill the UN with weapons for Hammas - they seem to dig that.

ROFL! Yes but unfortunately the United States is moving away from it too - didja hear what's gonna happen on Tuesday, January 20th?!

The day will come and go. It will be another transition into the test of our strength and endurance.
We will not wilt, nor falter. We may get beat up and bare some cuts, scrapes, and festering boils, but, we will persevere as a nation and the conservative party will find itself again. It will have no other choice after Obama and the democrats attempt to turn this nation into socialist quagmire.
We need to stay strong, and vigilant, and keep pushing
back, for two years. But, don't push too much...they'll
fall and fail on their own good feelgood policys.

Several sources have been reporting for the last couple of days that HAMAS has taken over either the first floor, or the entire building, housing the BBC offices inside Gaza City (or Strip).

[Link: www.weaselzippers.net...]

[Link: www.theaugeanstables.com...]

[Link: twitter.com...]

All three links point back to Richard Landes, who is quoting from unnamed Israeli media...

My understanding is that the BBC offices were located within the same building as Ramattan (the Gazacam people). I say "were" because I don't know that BBC has actually had an office inside the Gaza Strip since Alan Johnson was kidnapped and released by HAMAS.

BBC does show this view from the AP office in Gaza City. Does it look familiar to any other Gaza cam watchers?

[Link: news.bbc.co.uk...]

It doesn't appear to be the same building as Ramattan. That hole in the window was caused by small arms fire from ground level. I think this hole is the result of HAMAS gunmen firing wildly into the air at Israeli helicopters that they can't hope to hit with small arms fire from the ground, maybe even those same gunmen who were seen in the Kilgore found and Charles posted video, using children as spotters and human shields.

"At least two years?" HA! sez I.

There are hardcore communists who still believe that dogma despite the dismal history of the Soviet Union, of Cuba, of North Korea, of Zimbabwe, of China (which has become an economic powerhouse largely because they diluted the sludge of Maoism with Capitalism Water). That's more than 90 years of belief that the inspiration for Obamanomics will work if we just tweak one thing more.

Two years? The glazed-eye belief will just be starting to warm up.

When they do the survey again in two years, they will give him another two, ad infinitum. The media will see to it.

British ministers and political leaders extolled Muslim achievements in the UK at the annual ceremony for the latest The Muslim News Awards for Excellence in London on Tuesday.

Among the winners were Sadiq Khan MP, Minister in the Government Whip's Office, Amir Khan, the IBF inter-continental and Commonwealth Lightweight Boxing Champion and BBC correspondent Alan Johnston, who was detained in Gaza for nearly four months last year.

they give awards to Muslims in Britain , for err.. being Muslim.

“Britain simply wouldn’t be the same without the achievements of Muslim entrepreneurs, doctors, teachers, writers, artists and sportsmen and women”

of course it wouldnt be the same - no tube bombings, no anti-semitic riots, no beating up of Jews, no pro-islam propaganda from the bbc.

Several sources have been reporting for the last couple of days that HAMAS has taken over either the first floor, or the entire building, housing the BBC offices inside Gaza City (or Strip).

The good news is the BBC won't have to change their reporters or biases. Business as usual.

Is it ok to comment that she did not say that. What she said was that she would not have to "worry" about how to pay, not that anyone was going to pay for it.

Which certainly implies that she expected handouts of some kind, possibly, but not limited to, in the form of a well-paying job.

But most likely she expects a moratorium on foreclosures, and an increase in her welfare check.

Noting the size of the blast cloud, I'd say that wasn't a munition singular, but a secondary blast of stored munitions plural.

The largest air delivered weapon in the IAF inventory is a 2,000lb bomb. It's big, but not as big as what is shown in that picture.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least to find out that HAMAS has been detonating bombs of that size with the Gaza Strip, and then blaming the results on the Israelis.

That is correct. The rules are clear. If unauthorized persons threaten the neutral status of marked locations, hospitals, schools or cultural monuments. You must order them to leave and then you must announce that it's status has been violated and abandon the premises. The only excuse for remaining there after unlawful combatant move in is if you are being held captive at gunpoint. BTW under the American Uniform Code of Military Justice the punishment for Forcing a Safeguard is the death penalty.

Jerusalem is not wholly an Israeli city. Have you forgotten who has control of the Temple Mount? The UN needs to be centered on site of the world's most dangerous...Oh, the hell with this.

Look, people, I'm just as big a critic of the UN as anyone here. My proposing Jerusalem as the new home for the UN is my way of exposing the fact that the UN is a failed institution, has no relevance to world peace and the U. S. should quit throwing our tax dollars at it. The UN is increasingly being blackmailed by Islamic interests and its presence on U. S. soil is a growing source of embarrassment.

If the UN was in any manner, shape or form living up to its charter, Jerusalem would be the perfect home for it.

I would love to see the stinking corpse of the UN turfed out of the USA. I see no advantage to any decent nation hosting the headquarters of an organization devoted to hatred of the West and Israel, and to promotion of third world victimhood.

There is zero question that the IDF used WP munitions. Pic#4 in that series is a WP round.

AFAIK, the IDF only denied the WP allegation once. "They" can allege all they want, there is nothing illegal about using WP munitions in combat.

If there is, then the UN will be among the first to be charged, as the UN used thousands of tons of WP munitions in Korea. And almost every single member nation of the UN uses WP in their own military.

Two bestselling books helped a lot. And his wife's salary hasn't been exactly chump change, especially since he got elected to the Senate. I'm not alleging that he's done anything illegal or even dishonest to get his wealth, just commenting on the fact that while he likes to talk about soaking the wealthy, he's not likely to actually do it.

Usually when they talk about "soaking the rich" what they really mean is taxing the upper middle class out of existence in order to make the lower class completely dependant on government handouts to survive. I'd say that that is a campaign pledge that Obama will do his level best to fulfill.

Don't forget the gazillions the rich elite gave to his campaign. That's basically his money now. Of course, his Presidential years, and after, will take him from rich to wealthy. You're right. He'd be punishing himself, but he's also not going to bite the Soros' that fed him.

A House Divided.

If we could first know where we are, and whither we are tending, we could better judge what to do, and how to do it. We are now far into the fifth year since a policy was initiated with the avowed object, and confident promise, of putting an end to slavery agitation. Under the operation of that policy, that agitation has not only not ceased, but has constantly augmented. In my opinion, it will not cease, until a crisis shall have been reached and passed. "A house divided against itself cannot stand." I believe this government cannot endure permanently half slave and half free. I do not expect the Union to be dissolved -- I do not expect the house to fall -- but I do expect it will cease to be divided. It will become all one thing, or all the other. Either the opponents of slavery will arrest the further spread of it, and place it where the public mind shall rest in the belief that it is in the course of ultimate extinction; or its advocates will push it forward, till it shall become alike lawful in all the States, old as well as new -- North as well as South.

(Its worth the read.)

the issue is the relocation of the UN

has nothing to do with religion...and the claim to Jerusalem by Christians and muslims has everthing to do with replacing the Jews

so

fuckoff

What I "get" is that we are talking at cross purposes. My own preference would be for Israel to occupy the land God gave it in peace and prosperity. Unfortunately Islam (a religion) is violently opposed to this. The UN is supposedly an organization dedicated to peace between nations. It is, as an entity, a bully and a coward. My argument is that, if the UN is truly interested in peace (and I know it isn't) it would better if it was located closer to the conflict and away from the distractions and temptations of the Big Apple.

Perhaps we can compromise. Let the UN move to Gaza City.

It is inviting more problems, yes, for the international community. The international community has the luxury of throwing rhetorical rocks at Israel from long range and seems to enjoy doing it. This is wrong on all levels.

I say ship their sorry, pampered backsides into the kill zone. Give them a compound in range of Hamas rockets. Let them be awakened in the middle of the night by warning sirens. Then let's see how many resolutions they pass against Israel.

If I have not already made it abundantly clear, let me state for the record that I have no faith whatsoever in the UN. My suggestions for the relocation of that worthless debating society were made knowing that they will never be implemented and that Israel's best bet is to ignore it.

As to my "self interest", I would dearly love to hear that the worst news from Israel was inclement weather.
