Onion: Obama’s New Catchphrase

Humor • Views: 2,035

The horror: Obama Debuts Annoying Catchphrase.

WASHINGTON—In an unexpected turn of events that even his most ardent supporters are calling extremely ill-advised, President Obama, known for his simple yet stirring slogan “Yes we can,” debuted a new, extremely annoying catchphrase Monday during an address on proposed economic policy reform, saying, “It is time for America to move forward, not backward—and in conclusion, hot diggity ding dang!” The new catchphrase, White House officials announced, will replace the former slogan as the focal point of the president’s public image effective immediately, and will be implemented in all appearances, official correspondence, and executive paperwork from now until at least mid-2012. Publicity materials featuring the wince-inducing phrase—and picturing Obama smiling wildly and giving a double thumbs-up to the camera—were distributed this week to thousands of media outlets.

39 Mad Al-Jaffee  Wed, Feb 11, 2009 10:40:27am

'Cause Frank calls the shots for all those guys.

/Otter, Animal House - that's the catch-phrase of the next 4 years.

41 LGoPs  Wed, Feb 11, 2009 10:40:55am

On a more serious note, with the well known observation of Obama showing his - not well disguised - middle finger in the debates.......I would think that when he uses the word 'Folks' to address us, he is really saying 'Fucks' to himself - because thats the way he views us.
It would seem to be in keeping with his childish peevishness.
I'm going to listen to his intonations real hard in the future......

42 Kenneth  Wed, Feb 11, 2009 10:41:13am

For 12 months before the election, the phrase was,

"Yes we can!"

From election day to the inauguration, the phrase was,

"Yes we did!'

And in about 12 months from now, the phrase will be,

"What did we do?!"

43 Morganfrost  Wed, Feb 11, 2009 10:41:21am

I have faith in The Onion to properly lampoon even The Chosen One. They are consistently funny and seem to aim their satire at all political stripes with no bias - which is what comedians should do.

Unlike the late night comedians. They were among the biggest losers of an Obama Presidency. Now, for 4 years, they won't have any jokes to make about the President. Granted, they will TRY. But their jokes will always be tip toeing around Obama for fear of being called "racist."

Since Obama jokes are so few and far between, here's a good one:

Q: What do Obama and OSama have in common?
A: They both have friends who have bombed the Pentagon.

89 Nevergiveup  Wed, Feb 11, 2009 10:48:34am

Dirty Bomb Materials Found in Maine Home
excerpt:
The report also indicated Amber Cummings had said her husband had been in contact with white supremacist groups and that he was upset about the election of Barack Obama as president of the U.S.

How many of these people are real? How many are, as the koskidz like to claim with each and every single act of terror in the past 8 years, "false flags"? I don't put anything at all past this crowd.

*The Paulian slunt who "became" a "Republican" and claimed to have been attacked by a black man who carved a B on her cheek comes to mind.
*The "White supremecist Christian" McVeigh and Nichols come to mind, nevermind their dalliances with OMC Muslims and the successful training they received in Indonesia, they were White Christian Conservatives, end of story, end of investigations.
*The ENDLESS series of stories of minorities who "found" racist epithets in their cubicles, on their office doors (Mike Adams has chronicled many in the LGBTGQQWTFLOL crowd just at UNC) only to have it turn out that they themselves did it.
*MOBYS. Lefties who, by the millions, have taken the frank advice handed to them by a lefty musician, and have gone online to conservative websites to post racist comments, or misogynist comments, or murder-condoning comments, in order to discredit and even get these sites shut down.
*I'm sure there are many more examples, these are just the ones that spring to mind.

I wouldn't be surprised in the least if some of these religiously-anti-Conservative people would be willing to "martyr" themselves for the cause, maybe take a couple years in jail for threatening the prez with a gun, or for breaking some windows at a PP Clinic. ALL FOR THE STRUGGLE.

There will be more to come, just watch. Right on cue.

Aides also confirmed that Obama has refused to lend his copy of issue #24 to Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, fearing the former Republican congressman will carelessly bend or rip the pages. This is my post from the previous thread:
The 0bama administration has made its first remarks on the Israeli elections.
They want to throw Israel to the Paliterrorists:

"The hope is that there is a government that is really committed to peace with the Palestinians," the senior administration official was quoted by The Washington Post as saying.

The official expressed hope that despite Netanyahu's track record with the Clinton administration, he would still play ball with Washington's pledge to take an active role in pursuing Middle East peace. "He's grown over the years," the official said. "Getting back to the talks with the Palestinians is really the only solution."

Did he mean "only" or "final"?

They've owned their own business for quite a while, live in the upscale end of Maui in their really expensive house and are suffering with the economy right now although their clients are "high-end". Let's see how long they "support" the President when their taxes go through the roof. The email was about all the economists who signed a letter to the President claiming he wasn't listening and outlined the downfalls of repeating the New Deal of FDR. It was purely economic and not political and I thought she would have had the savvy to see the difference but alas, another "glazey-eyed" Obama supporter comes to the forefront of our circle of friends.

This kid was Catholic and actually knew. He said "Yes sir Admiral, that's the Papal flag."

Rickover said, "Well, the Pope screwed up and I'm taking over. Now get out."

Yah. My husband and I were watching Israeli TV, you should have seen Livni's face addressing the Kadmia throngs. It was priceless, trying to spin a victory out of it, begging Bibi to join a government (under her leadership) for "national unity". Totally pathetic. And all the Kadmia losers-they were SO SO SAD. I hate Kadima. FEH.

So I've been watching this a little, but I don't understand what the likely outcome will be. Bibi as PM? What coalition would make that happen?

I realize any answer is partially speculation, but my Israeli Politics Fu is not very strong.

And play "Obama, 'Tis of Thee" at least three times a day. Along with glowing reports on how Big Brother/The One is healing the planet.

How effing hilarious is it that the woman is bitching about "exposure" when all she seems interested in exposing as of late is her own boobage?

Can you imagine the reaction in the blogosphere if Charles were to go YouTube with some half-open zipper vids, or an interview done with a partially-bare chest and his shirt unbuttoned down to his navel?

Seriously.

Well, her boobage and also, the hair.
I wonder if she understands how unserious it makes her look, and how distracting it is.

Julio, the guy who wanted Obama to make McDonald's give him better benefits. He just now said that talking to Obama was the best thing that happened to him since getting a Playstation for Christmas. You can't write this stuff, people!

Frankly, I feel kind of bad for the guy, or anyone for that matter who thinks so much of getting a Playstation for Christmas. Then I think: good for him for getting off his ass, putting down the Playstation and getting a job. So he wants more benefits, I can't blame him - at least he is working. So many want the hand out but are not willing to put out.

There is some reasonable coverage on Arutz 7, Israel National News. Basically, Bibi doesn't have enough seats for a majority Likud government. He needs more seats, and to get them, he has to build a coalition with some smaller parties. Now is the time where the smaller parties yield tremendous power, they are like whores-selling themselves off to the highest bidder. Here's some more info.

And they'll be quite happy about it. They've openly said they want higher gas prices to encourage alternative energy development. In fact, some here have been proponents of that philosophy.

If he wants better benefits, he should look for another job, no beg the president to improve the one he has.

The benefits in the military aren't bad, although the work might prove to be a bit harder than flipping burgers.

"We can't just drill our way out of this problem, it's 10 years away."

That's not Marvel!
I bet you read "Aquaman," too!

Aquawho?

I was a DC reader, though. I hadn't read comics since I was a kid, but then a friend handed me the first 6 issues of the Watchmen, and I was hooked. Add in Sandman, the Dark Knight stuff, Hellblazer, and so on.

The few Marvel comics I tried in that era seemed juvenile by comparison. Although the Sensational She-Hulk was very, very funny.

Mr. faith was a Marvel reader, and for years he listened patronizingly whenever I tried to tell him how good DC was. Last month he finally read the Watchmen, to prepare for the movie which he knows I will oblige him to see.

After one issue, he asked if he could read the Sandman series next.

I am reminded of an old Simpson's episode about the 96 Election when Kang and Kodos take over the bodies of Clinton and Dole and the Clinton clone gives a similar speech: "We must move forward, not backwards. Sideways, not forward. And always twirling,... twirling toward greater freedom."

Of course at the end, when Kang becomes president and establishes a dictatorship enslaving the earth, Homer remarks, "Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos."

I feel so like Homer Simpson right now.

Obama amps up the war against his own people

"American's United for Change" plays attack dog for Obama, going after recalcitrant Republicans, trying to force them to sign on to the horrific Orwellian named "Stimulus" bill - with Obama it's My-Way- Or-The-Highway, and he is taking the politics of personal destruction to a whole new level.

It took the left wing think tanks about a week to gain their footing after they realized support for this thing was tanking, but they are all on message now, and the many tenacled groups are touting the message, blistering the country with propaganda.

How long will people fall for it? They see the same old retreads getting appointments standing in stark contrast to the talking points of 'getting away from the tired old ways of the past' - they see the tax cheat in charge of the treasury standing in stark contrast to the claims of purity - they see massive spending and borrowing - and for all the claims of transparency, they see Obama holding staged press conferences.

This Emperor has no clothes. NO clothes. NO jewels. NO fine silks.

How many attack groups can you name?
