Speaking of which, my wife has a new iPhone that she found in a bathroom in an international airport. Maybe they should add little self deploying needle-like spider legs and a GPS collar for the owner so the thing can chase you down if you ever try to get rid of it.

Veteran on cross-country bike trek dies
NORMAN, Okla. — A disabled Gulf War veteran who left Norman earlier this month on a hand-propelled bicycle headed for Washington, D.C., to honor fallen soldiers has died.
Kevin Baker suffered a seizure Friday morning in his sleep at the home of some friends in Lake Charles, La., said Norman resident Diane Zellner. He died in an ambulance en route to a local hospital, Zellner said she was told.
Baker was injured while serving as a firefighter in Kuwait in the 1990s when a Scud missile struck his barracks.

watching the live blog - and it looks like they are letting developers charge you for whatever they want once you've purchased an application. They just showed a FPS shooter game where a prompt came up to buy a rocket launcher for 99 cents during the game.
Maybe this is what the Administration should do, instead of covering medical expenses for wounded veterans, they can just charge the troops per bullet spent while out in the theater.

Arson attacks spread to central Paris
The number of cars torched overnight - 918 across France - was the highest yet since the unrest began Oct. 27. Of the cars burned, 545 were outside of the Paris region, the Interior Ministry said. The night before, 900 vehicles were burned across the country.
The count of overnight arson attacks, still incomplete, could rise further, the police said Sunday, adding that it did not include shops, gymnasiums, nursery schools and other targets attacked by bands of youths.
(.....)
The town of Evreux, 100 kilometers, or 60 miles, west of Paris, appeared hardest hit by marauding youths overnight, a national police spokesman, Patrick Hamon, said. Arsonists there laid waste to at least 50 vehicles, shops and businesses at a shopping center, a post office and two schools, he said.
Five police officers and three firefighters were hurt in clashes with youths, he said.
For the second night in a row, a helicopter equipped with spotlights and video cameras to track bands of youths
(.....)
Small teams of police were deployed to chase youths....
Oh those youths and their ways!

Some good news from the Obama crew...
Clinton: U.S. Gaza aid tied to recognition of Israel
Clinton told Abbas that Congress will not approve funding of a Palestinian government that does not recognize Israel's right to exist and renounce violence. She added that if those requirements are not met the U.S.-funded program under the supervision of General Keith Dayton training PA security forces would be the first to be axed.
....
She reportedly told the officials she believed holding new elections was secondary to building the bureaucracy of the Palestinian Authority. The Obama administration is adamant in maintaining the previous U.S. presidential administration's position of boycotting Hamas. Two weeks ago Clinton said lifting the boycott would damage attempts to reach peace in the region.

What's behind the loss rate?
In the Seattle area the last half dozen officers (over 3 years) have been taken out by felons under Department of Corrections supervision.
Are your officers lacking in fire power and training? By that is not a disparing the officers, does the City give the the training and weapons they need for the threat level?
