He had a great run. Honco salute.
Thanks for smiles and laughs.

I have a few friends that have met Soupy Sales, and told me that he was one of the nicest people they'd ever met. I've seen quite a few of his old shows, and he consistently made me laugh. I also remember the prank they played on him during on of the shows where they had a naked lady standing behind a door (and off camera) and when he opened it, Soupy practically lost it for several minutes.
Rest in peace, Soupy. Thanks for all the laughs you gave us over the years.

Are there any young, slap-stick comedians?
I can think of a few people who fit that description, although their comedy is unintentional.

Each man's life touches so many other lives. When he isn't around he leaves an awful hole.
Thanks for the laughs Soupy

Pookie: K!!!
Soupy: No No No, Pookie! How come everytime I write F you see K???
/think about the last line for a sec...

I hate to say this, but I didn't know he was still around until I heard about his death.
Same reaction I had to Michael Jackson!

Only one I can think of off the top of my head is Sandra Bullock.

There's an old song called "If You See Kay." I've heard country and blues versions of it.

Back in the day, I was a part of a comedy improvisation group (another thing I miss about college, no time for it nowadays), which occasionally did devolve into slapstick. I have been on the receiving end of a few pies. Anything for a laugh!

I have seen that prank replayed many times, I have learned each and every one of them.
RIP Soupy

Does Joe Biden count?
Wouldn't exactly consider Joe to be a spring chicken. Nor does he seem to do scomedy intentionally. Unintentional comedy seems to come with the territory of being VP (anyone remember Dan Quayle?).

If the defining factor is pies, I nominate A.J. Burnett.

Jim Carrey.
I'm finding it harder and harder to laugh at his antics due to his anti-vax stance.

I'd forgotten about that. It's difficult to take somebody seriously when they have a virtual neon sign over their head, flashing the word "dork".

Jim Carrey.
Yeah, but he's more of a Jerry Lewis style scenery chewer than a Soupy Sales.

I saw Soupy Sales in person at the Grand Opening of a Circle K in West Covina, CA. I think it was 1963. We had just moved to California from the Midwest, and it was our first "star sighting", something to brag about to the folks back in WI. (I was 6.)

I guess Joe Biden is not young.

So I've been reading this UN Framework Convention on Climate Change document that is coming up in Copenhagen. I am on page 7 out of 181 and I already have that moonbat sense going like crazy.
There is no chance of us signing on to this right?
33 | gonecamping Fri, Oct 23, 2009 10:20:22am |
My sister-in-law sent us an email yesterday mentioning a 'Treaty' that the US was planning on signing which would obligate the US to commit tons of money because we produce more CO2 than poor countries. Said we would not be able to get out of the treaty once signed on, and it would be creating a global government and we would be giving up power as well as money.
I've not had time to research, does the document you are talking about sound like the treaty my in law mentioned?

I'm actually old enough to remember watching Soupy on B&W TV and especially remember a little stunt he pulled that got his show suspended for a few weeks--he told all the kids watching to go into Mommy's purse and send Soupy the green pieces of paper with the president's pictures on them. Luckily for me, my mother put her purse on a shelf that I couldn't reach. And remember, in those days (mid-50's) TV was live.

Question: What's in it for the US that can't be accomplished by unilateral action and without signing away US sovereignty?
Hint: Don't hold your breath for anything more than vague, future, pie-in-the-sky, non-binding promises (aka hopenchange) by China/India and the rest of the developing world.
