Boehner came out today and said that he's told his caucus to act respectful.
Let's hope Obama respects Americans' intelligence and doesn't try to blame continuing problems on the last administration (like with all the debt he's run up with help of Congressional Democrats (who have been in power since 2006)).

ARRA of 2009 did include adjustment of withholding (which is why paychecks were larger), but the tax rates did not change since Bush changed them in the 2001 and 2003 tax acts.

So, the banks have paid back TARP, but he wants to sock Wall Street with more fees and taxes to cover what hasn't been recovered thus far - even though the banks have repaid with interest and Obama sought to keep some banks from getting out of TARP.
Credits are not the same as tax cuts. He's conflating two separate and distinct concepts. Tax cut would affect the tax rate; credits only apply to those who qualify and take them.

Fair, I see that is a central part of the picture. I think a more central concern however is that America doesn't even encourage making anything anymore. It seems to me that outside of agriculture, we are a consumer economy. I dont think that is sustainable.

So wait - instead of cutting spending this year because the fiscal situation is so dire - he's going to cut spending starting in 2011 (so he can get his pet projects passed this year ahead of that). That's so his fellow Democrats can bring home the bacon on his projects.
That's all this is - push off the tough decisions until after election day.
Typical - and both parties do it, but that's business as usual - not doing things differently.
The SS, Medicare and Medicaid were started decades ago and were unsustainable then, and are now and will be unless substantive changes are made. Fix it. Good.

Speaking of DADT, it is bad for security to have closeted homosexuals much more than open ones. Anything that makes you subject to blackmail is a huge achilles heel in any work that requires security clearances. I didn't use it, Reine. But it doesn't offend me to the point of calling attention to it. I don't believe I have ever personally used anything other than Dem or Rep as "nicknames" for either party. I usually say Left and Right.

If you're still reading... I logged out, too, so I could actually enjoy the speech without the snarky comments.
I come and go here. When it got too hot (too much liberal hating), I'd leave for awhile. Most of the time, I overlooked it. The reason I stayed wasn't for the posters, mainly conservative, but for Charles. Because I liked the topics (primarily Israel at the time) and I like/d talking with people who don't think like me. Helps to better define my own thoughts.
I've noticed now there are less and less personal insults which is a good thing.

Really?? Try looking at the archives from the end of 2008. Calling Palin a piece of filth is a compliment in comparison.
And in case you didn't notice, she's not the President. Just a washed up governor who quit her job to write a book. Filth is rather fitting.

I find incongruity here. You point me to the archives to show how severely Palin was ridiculed, apparently as a "they did it too" premise. Yet you say you want to avoid snarky comments and that you avoided the liberal hating you found in the past at LGF. I'm not going to attempt any mind changing with people who pile on Palin. If it's a national pastime, so be it.

Actually, I was pointing you to the archives to show you how Obama was ridiculed, not Palin. You were not allowed to ridicule Palin here prior to the beginning of this year. I had at least one comment deleted for merely saying I didn't like her.
In fact, Labor Day weekend, Palin was announced. You know what another little piece of filth called me? (now banned thank God). She called me a House Jew shilling for Obama. That comment stayed and mine was deleted. Not one person here defended me. So quite frankly, any whining from conservatives here falls on deaf ears.
