Well, the original "bailout" was of Chrysler years ago... perhaps that was before your time.

And, if we want to stretch the meaning of "bailout", one could say that the government was involved in the years immediately after WWII, in which rail transit was discouraged and even dismantled, while suburban house building was encouraged and subsidized, all of which benefitted Detroit as much as the oil companies.

I have determined that the noted hive of scum and villainy known as Wikileaks can serve as a litmus test for the various factions of the wingnut-o-sphere: the moderates, the traditional kooks, the Paulian kooks, and the extremists.
The moderates think Wikileaks is a traitorous vestige of the leftwing media conspiracy, funded by the Soros Collective and his friends, the Zionist bankers. For traditional kooks, it is a front for the Kremlin, which is naturally still run in secret by communists and paid for from that source and (obviously) by Zionist bankers. The Paulian kooks, represented by Alex Jones, think it is a front for the CIA and the New World Order, with funding from the Federal Reserve and Zionist bankers. The extremists think it is a front for the shape-shifting lizard people from the fourth dimension, funded by undetectable cyber-fraud with a major contribution from Zionist bankers.

For my own part, I am wondering who the hell are these Zionist bankers and how can I get a job with them?

Esther believes because she can swing a couple of million fanatical followers she can rule the country, even though every poll finds her to be repugnant to a majority of voters.

[Link: restrepothemovie.com...]

And then feast your eyes on what American Family Association psychopath Bryan Fischer has to say about it:

We have feminized the Medal of Honor.

According to Bill McGurn of the Wall Street Journal, every Medal of Honor awarded during these two conflicts has been awarded for saving life. Not one has been awarded for inflicting casualties on the enemy. Not one.

Gen. George Patton once famously said, "The object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other guy die for his."

When we think of heroism in battle, we used the think of our boys storming the beaches of Normandy under withering fire, climbing the cliffs of Pointe do Hoc while enemy soldiers fired straight down on them, and tossing grenades into pill boxes to take out gun emplacements.

That kind of heroism has apparently become passe when it comes to awarding the Medal of Honor. We now award it only for preventing casualties, not for inflicting them.

Because the only good soldier is a dead soldier, or something.

Ann's Pro is a good sport and usual does comedy routines with Ann, some of which are actually funny. Anyway, Ann is the talk of UK TV-fandom right now and it has upset the apple-cart of British dancing.

Bristol is honestly trying to learn to dance and has progressed. I feel a sort of sorrow for her, as every time she is interviewed on DWTS it becomes apparent that others (her mother mostly) are living through her and Bristol is struggling for her own voice. Bristol lacks authenticity because she is too young to have formed any opinions of her own and so far in her short adult life she hasn't been able to break free from her mother's influence.

It becomes apparent in the interviews and background videos.

The random number generator in the old Atari 2600 isn't very good. That is why there are so many repeats.

There are a number of MOH winners that did not inflict casualties. George "Bud" Day is one of them and his citation reads:

Major George E. Day

On Aug. 26, 1967, Major Day was forced to eject from his aircraft over North Vietnam when it was hit by ground fire. His right arm was broken in three places, and his left knee was badly sprained. He was immediately captured by hostile forces and taken to a prison camp where he was interrogated and severely tortured. After causing the guards to relax their vigilance, Major Day escaped into the jungle and began the trek toward South Vietnam. Despite injuries inflicted by fragments of a bomb or rocket, he continued southward surviving on only a few berries and uncooked frogs. He successfully evaded enemy patrols and reached the Ben Hai River where he encountered U.S. artillery barrages. With the aid of a bamboo log float, Major Day swam across the river and entered the demilitarized zone.

Due to delirium, he lost his sense of direction and wandered aimlessly for several days. After a number of unsuccessful attempts to signal U.S. aircraft, he was ambushed and recaptured by the Viet Cong, sustaining gunshot wounds to his left hand and thigh. He was returned to the prison from which he had escaped and later was moved to Hanoi after giving his captors false information to questions put before him. Physically, Major Day was totally debilitated and unable to perform even the simplest task for himself. Despite his many injuries, he continued to offer maximum resistance. His personal bravery in the face of deadly enemy pressure was significant in saving the lives of fellow aviators who were still flying against the enemy.

Major Day continued in internment by the North Vietnamese until his release on March 14, 1973. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for his personal bravery by President Gerald R. Ford March 4, 1976.

I think that depending on the events of the next 2 years she may or may not have a good chance. Since we are using gun analogies, "do you feel lucky?"

Yes, when it comes to Sarah, I actually do.

re: #63 allegro

I don't have anything personally against the young woman but I am sincerely annoyed at ABC for politicizing what was, for me, a simple, fun pleasure. What with Sarah being on most shows and the teabagger campaign to use the show to "stick it to the libruls" it really has ruined this happy diversion for me. That pisses me off.

I completely agree with you. Although, the show's producers probably enjoy the added publicity. Kate Gosselin was not great for the show, either, IMHO.
