Tech Note: RSS Feeds for LGF Pages Authors

Your very own feed
LGF • Views: 31,388

New feature tonight! Each and every author of LGF Pages now has her or his own RSS feed, with its own custom URL.

There’s always been an RSS feed for the whole thing, right here:

http://feeds2.feedburner.com/LittleGreenLinks

Now you can view any author’s RSS feed by using an address like this, with my name as an example:

http://littlegreenfootballs.com/pages/rss/Charles

If the username contains spaces, they should be replaced with ‘+’ symbols, like this:

http://littlegreenfootballs.com/pages/rss/Killgore+Trout

The author feeds contain the author’s most recent 25 Pages, in standard RSS 2.0 format so they should be readable by almost any RSS viewer.

One of my friends just posted a picture of his new pi-day baby on facebook.

Now I want another baby.

Don’t worry, this will only last until the next time I feel tired.

If case anyone was wondering, it appears the user name portion of these RSS links is not case sensitive. (This would not qualify as “something good to post,” however.)

naturally, the freeper reaction to the crisis in japan is denial, denial, and denial. they keep reposting this “interesting” statement published in the national review:

Let us be clear. Compared to the real disaster at hand, the hypothetical threat from the nuclear stations is zero. The reactors in question were all shut down four days ago. The control rods have been inserted, and the cores have been salted with boron. It is physically impossible for them to sustain a fission reaction of any kind at this point, let alone cause another Chernobyl. Only the fission-byproduct decay heat remains, and it is fading fast as the short half-life material (which accounts for most of the radioactivity) performs its decay reactions and ceases to exist. At this point, the total heating power in the reactors is only about 0.3 percent of what it was when the reactors were operating. That means that a system previously capable of generating 1,300 megawatts of heat would now yield 4 megawatts thermal — about the same as that emitted by a dozen 100-horsepower automobile engines. The Japanese engineers can certainly deal with that with water cooling. And even if they were to stop, there just isn’t enough heating power in the system anymore to generate a dangerous plume of radioactive materials, which is doubly impossible at this point since all the more active short half-life stuff is already gone.

No, the threat does not come from the power plant, but from panic spread by press misinformation. After Three Mile Island, the press spread hysteria as well, but at least there conditions in the rest of society were normal, and so the only victim of the press campaign was the nuclear industry

About author: “Dr. Robert Zubrin is the president of Pioneer Astronautics and the author of Energy Victory: Winning the War on Terror by Breaking Free of Oil. He holds a Ph.D. in nuclear engineering.”

freerepublic.com

oh, and just for good measure:

The ISIS [Institute for Science and International Security] is a leftist, anti-nuclear organization. Their thoughts on what level crisis this is can be safely ignored.

It appears they aren’t, at least for login. But the latter part of URLs (which traditionally represent directories and file names) often are, depending upon the Web server in use. Yes, it was a silly point to being up in the first place.

re: #8 EmmmieG

Oh dear. I killed the thread. Or is everyone out finding something good to post?

Not me… at least. Actually, I’m puttering through a video of the Ritz Teen Thespian Guild’s (Tiffen, Ohio) production of my script “1984.” They sent me this last year after the produced the show, but I wasn’t able to play it, some technical details beyond me about format and codecs and so on, but I have a new computer and I tried out the DVD on this computer, and using VLC player, and it’s working fine.

This is a group of teens who got a lot of high school funding cut from the arts programs in Ohio, and they started their own theatre group and connected up with the local professional theatre “The Ritz Theatre” to present shows basically produced by teens.

And for those who don’t aspire to acting, there crew and technical staff is made up of teens too. Even the board of directors.

There are only 13 parts in my script, but they had about 35 teens interested in stage roles, so, a few years ago, when they first approached me about this project, they asked my permission to add some non speaking characters, and to divide some of the “telescreen” parts to multiple actors, instead of having just one person do all of the “telescreen” speeches. I also rewrote a few dialog parts to accommodate gender changes, it seems that teen theatre always has more females than males interested in performing.

I say “puttering through the video” because, as the curmudgeon, and as much as I love to see young people interested in the theatre, it hurts my ears to hear some of this… nothing personal, I have 8mm tapes of myself performing as a teen, and that hurts too.

I love the efforts though.

I heard a guy on the evil, breaking our country’s back NPR on the drive home - he was at Three Mile Island. His one comment that stuck was they at least had power in the control room to allow handling of the situation. These folks in Japan are apparently in the dark.

Crazy.

It’s expected from the Iranians so it won’t be seen as a big deal. The new factor is Egypt allowed the shipment through the Suez. Iran did this to send a the message that the game has changed. My guess is they had some help getting the shipment through. The new Egyptian government is going to have to make a decision about allowing weapons into Gaza.

I read the containers were loaded in Beirut and came in overland via Syria.

Looks like there’s a run on it:

Americans fearing radioactive fallout snap up potassium supplies
Potassium iodine (or KI, according to its chemical makeup) fills up the thyroid so it can’t absorb the radioactive iodine isotope, which can cause thyroid cancer, especially in children, infants and fetuses.

As USA TODAY’s Liz Szabo reports, after age 20 it’s not necessary to take KI, because the risk of thyroid cancer is negligible, though people with an existing thyroid disease may be at higher risk. Adults over 40 have the lowest risk of thyroid cancer but are most susceptible to allergic reactions from taking potassium iodide.

It’s no surprise that Pamela Geller would use the murder of this family and the words of this child to gain cheap political points. The kid was probably just thinking freely. Ben-Yehuda said that thus far IDF forces located two Chinese-made C-704 missiles with a range of 35 kilometers, noting the IDF believes that more missiles were hidden on the ship. The IDF estimates that the weapons and ammunition found on board the ship could reach 50 tons.

He said that weapons were smuggled from Iran to Syria where the ship collected them on its way to Turkey and then sailed to Egypt.

Here’s the Wiki on the C-704. And some key stats are:

Very little official information on the C-704 is publicized at its debut at the sixth Zhuhai airshow in 2006 except the following:

* Warhead: 130 kg
* Speed: high subsonic
* Range: 35 km
* Cruise altitude: 15–20 metres
* Developer: China Aviation Industry Corporation

It’s a radar guided missile designed to take out ships the size of Israel’s corvettes. The improved seeker makes it harder to spoof the missile with chaff countermeasures.

Even so, its small radar cross-section and improved seeker mean that a pair of them would stand a modest chance against an Israeli corvette since those lack AEGIS and the sheer amount of defensive missile power carried by a Arleigh Burke or Ticonderoga class warship.

my point is this…when it comes to a fork in the road, a few batteries of these things will vanish and maybe even sink a smaller boat….but in the end that stuff will be a footnote when combat operations cease…and I hope the US is in there to pile on

The Libyans claimed that his adopted daughter died in a bombing. However, the child was not known to exist before that bombing run, and there’s no proof of her existence out there, so there’s been a general theory that she may have been made up for propaganda reasons.

Last Defense at Troubled Reactors: 50 Japanese Workers

A small crew of technicians, braving radiation and fire, became the only people remaining at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station on Tuesday — and perhaps Japan’s last chance of preventing a broader nuclear catastrophe.

They are the faceless 50, the unnamed operators who stayed behind. They have volunteered, or been assigned, to pump seawater on dangerously exposed nuclear fuel, already thought to be partly melting and spewing radioactive material, to prevent full meltdowns that could throw thousands of tons of radioactive dust high into the air and imperil millions of their compatriots…

The workers are being asked to make escalating — and perhaps existential — sacrifices that so far are being only implicitly acknowledged: Japan’s Health Ministry said Tuesday it was raising the legal limit on the amount of radiation to which each worker could be exposed, to 250 millisieverts from 100 millisieverts, five times the maximum exposure permitted for American nuclear plant workers.

Question for all you military folks about the Gaza Missiles. Assuming that hamas doesn’t have any radar (much less military targeting radar). These missiles could not be used to target ships without line of sight from launcher, and possibly not even then, right?

If you is it possible that they could be used to strike land targets inside Israel? It seems like their range is a little bit longer than grad rockets (35 km instead of 20), but I don’t know how targeting would work.

All depends on the guidance systems.

Some are GPS based (enter coordinates) and others can be ‘guided’ by those with other airborne assets.

Which is just the opposite of what they said yesterday.

Yesterday Kan was furious that TEPCO wanted to withdraw its remaining workers, and Kan even went so far as to set up office at TEPCO and essentially tell the CEO what to do.

So it looks like Kan has reversed himself here, which I take to mean that the radiation levels really are harmful to people near the plant.

The missiles in question home in with radar.re: #131 Dark_Falcon

Here’s the Wiki on the C-704. And some key stats are:

* Warhead: 130 kg
* Speed: high subsonic
* Range: 35 km
* Cruise altitude: 15–20 metres
* Developer: China Aviation Industry Corporation

It’s a radar guided missile designed to take out ships the size of Israel’s corvettes. The improved seeker makes it harder to spoof the missile with chaff countermeasures.

Anti-ship missiles are normally unable to attack land targets. Their radar has trouble with the ground clutter.

FUKUSHIMA, Japan — Workers at a quake-damaged atomic power plant suspended operations and evacuated Wednesday after a surge in radiation made it too dangerous to remain there, dealing a setback to Japan’s frantic efforts to stem a nuclear crisis.
“All the workers there have suspended their operations. We have urged them to evacuate, and they have,” Japan’s chief cabinet secretary, Yukio Edano said, according to a translation by NHK television.
Edano said that a surge in radiation Wednesday meant workers were unable to continue even minimal efforts at the stricken nuclear plant.

There were radiation surges yesterday too… but as I wrote upstream Kan didn’t want the workers to give up. Somebody must have convinced him that once the dosage rate gets in the milliseivert/hr range that humans can’t remain there for extended periods.

2) It’s not possible to turn it into a dumb missile? By disabling the seeking function?

Not necessarily. The rods *create their own heat*. That’s their job. A nuclear reactor is, by definition, operating at a critical mass for fission. Without cooling water circulating or control rods, the fuel *will* melt. Without water to cool them…

1. Actually, given that, it could use alternative guidance systems. Using TV guidance, an operator could use it to attack ground targets. So a precision attack on a key building might be possible.

2. No, that’s not possible. The C-704 flies a low-altitude attack profile, unlike the ballistic pattern of the BM-21 Grad. It needs to be guided, and unless its using infrared, both it and its controller will have active emissions.

2. No, that’s not possible. The C-704 flies a low-altitude attack profile, unlike the ballistic pattern of the BM-21 Grad. It needs to be guided, and unless its using infrared, both it and its controller will have active emissions.

The problem is that is has a small radar cross-section (most missiles its size are harder to see on radar than a Piper Cub) and thus is hard to detect if its using TV or IR guidance. Radar would be somewhat easier owing to the active emissions from the missile and its search-and-track radar station.

The other way to stop it with active defenses is with SAMs launched from the targeted ship or other warships (though cruise missiles can be shot down by aircraft (that part of Under Siege and 24 was correct)). From Kyodo News

There is “white smoke” (meaning vapors) billowing from the area of what appears to be building #4, when filmed (live now) from 36 km away, in a helicopter.

It is not clear what it is. Sometimes there is steam from air conditioners and what not, but not to this extent - this is a problem.

The suspicion on the news is that it is steam or smoke from the pool at #4. The radiation there, from the used fuel in the pool, is high enough to not be able to approach it and see for certain. The white smoke is currently blowing out to SEA.

Speculation is that the water in the pool is boiling, possibly with exposed fuel rods (no way to tell yet). 2 days ago the temperature was measured at 84C (it is usually 40C). But now, probably boiling.

It is desperately needed to cool the pool. Schemes for putting water in it are being considered but it’s hard to do because of the radiation and the fact that the hole in the roof does NOT line up with the pool.

Likely right. Though our amphibious landing ships now use the Rolling Airframe Missile, which is quick enough off the blocks to hit it. Best chance is to keep AWACS planes aloft to spot its radar. Once the spotter radar turns on, the launch site can be attacked with your own cruise missiles or aircraft. Also, if you spot the launch from far enough away you have better chance of a layered defense.

There have been earthquakes along these faults greater than 7.5 in recorded history. Granted the plant isn’t exactly right on the fault. But my point is how do you prepare for the worst if you can’t be absolutely sure what the worst might be? The entire ring of fire region is geologically active and there are plenty of technologies that could be deployed that aren’t at risk from earthquakes, much less a risk to people because of earthquakes.

I really am not advocating shutting down Cali plants, nor do I want people to be scared about their safety. That would be useless alarmism. But I would like to see them upgrade those plants with any new safety technologies that might be available and for extremely stringent inspections to be implemented. The plant may have been designed for 7.5, but that is assuming that it was constructed properly and maintained properly. Diablo Canyon, for example, is run by Pacific Gas & Electric. The goals of most companies is to earn more income and spend less. Some of them have been known to sacrifice inspections and maintenance, even to the point of ignoring safety warnings (this also comes to mind), for the goal of spending less. IMO, all such plants should be under extremely strict, random, inspections.

re: #218 albusteve

there is not enough heat in the rods to start a ‘meltdown’…the reactors have been abandon and will cool on their own…it’s been predicted that zero radiation will reach the US, and that stuff will burn itself out pretty fast…that’s the story I believe at this point…no worries

See here please (and scroll down) allthingsnuclear.org
Figure 2 shows the typical rate at which heat from a shut-down reactor core boils away water when the cooling systems are not functioning. The vertical axis shows the boil-off rate in gallons per minute. The horizontal axis shows the time, in days, since the reactor was shut down. Even a week after being shut down, the heat from a reactor core boils water at a rate of nearly 60 gallons per minute. The boil-off rate declines with time while the rate of radioactive release decreases.

Graph is indicated to be typical; assuming a boil-off rate at shutdown is ~90gal/min, it takes a week for that to decline to 60, and nearly a month to decline to 40.

This may help you to appreciate why accumulations of spent fuel rods have to be kept submerged in pools. I fear Bad Things are about to happen.

We have been quite lucky so far in Southern Calif. Both the 1971 and 1994 quakes were pre-dawn, so most folks were safe in their beds. But engineering to just a 7.5 simply ignores the probability that a much larger quake, in the upper 7 range, may happen at any time.

In Iran,Tuesday throughout the country there was mass demonstrations. Today this is a weird holiday that they jump over fire on the last week of the year. It depends on the moon but usually March 21, the first day of Spring, is their New Years day. So far 366 have been arrested and 2 have been killed and 37 are in the hospital.

It is interesting that protests and this holiday came together. Of course the major component is simply that the people desire freedom from oppression. But I also wonder if a small part of it has anything to do with the tension between Zoroastrianism and Islam in Iran?

Oh, we have choices. They are not necessarily pretty one, but they exist.

That said, we’d be better off with the a certain nation of Shia as our baseline in the region than with the House of Saud. Unfortunately 1953 pretty much killed that possibility of sanity.

Well, there’s something to that, though Mossadegh’s nationalizing Iran’s oil and making overtures to the Soviet union means he has to bear a good bit of the blame for what happened. And even then, the US being hated in Iran was not inevitable. Had the Shah not pushed too hard, too fast, he might well have succeeded in modernizing Iran.

Japan Pulls Workers From Troubled Nuclear Plant After Radiation Surge

Just an interesting question… shouldn’t they stay? Should the company or the government send additional workers into the plant area, no matter what the consequences are?

At this point, is the possible lost of life further out from the “ground zero” of the site possibly large enough to warrant literal sacrificing of a few for the good of many.

Honest question.

Surprisingly enough, there was almost no looting in Los Angeles after the big earthquakes here in 1971 and 1994

373 RadicalModerate  Tue, Mar 15, 2011 9:34:03pm

Normally, I support most of the Obama Administration’s proposals, but there’s a few times that they really miss the mark. This one’s actually got me a bit pissed off.

White House wants new copyright law crackdown

The White House today proposed sweeping revisions to U.S. copyright law, including making “illegal streaming” of audio or video a federal felony and allowing FBI agents to wiretap suspected infringers.

The term “fair use” does not appear anywhere in the report. But it does mention Web sites like The Pirate Bay, which is hosted in Sweden, when warning that “foreign-based and foreign-controlled Web sites and Web services raise particular concerns for U.S. enforcement efforts.” (See previous coverage of a congressional hearing on overseas sites.)

The usual copyright hawks, including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, applauded the paper, which grew out of a so-called joint strategic plan that Vice President Biden and Espinel announced in June 2010.

Needless to say, the Electronic Frontier Foundation is going to be absolutely livid over this proposal.
The wording on this thing is such that using services like YouTube can get you a federal wiretap, and having a SlingBox (which allows you to remotely view TV programming via live streaming) could possibly get you being arrested for a federal crime.

Yeah, I gotta agree with KT on this one.

I will buy, legally, what is made available for a reasonable price.

Otherwise I will go without, but it reminds me of my experience yesterday, and remember, my span of attention isn’t all that long.

I’m standing in the department store, looking at a mannequin wearing a shirt my daughter really wanted. It’s the last one in the store (we thought). It’s my daughter’s size. The store clerk can’t take it off and sell it to me because she’s not trained to take the stupid shirt off.

I want to buy it. I will pay the asking price. It’s the last one in the store, so it’s not like they need to keep advertising it. What is wrong here?

I wanted itunes before itunes existed. Lots of us figured out that itunes was the way to go.

Yup.

TV broadcasters are afraid of the iTunes model because they realize that if customers can simply buy a la carte then the broadcasters can’t package the advertisement with it… and ultimately even the mindless youth will realize that the reason TV is mostly junk-programming is to keep the audience glued on their buts just long enough to watch a commercial.

This is usually the stance taken by people who have no intellectual property to be stolen from them This is the stance usually taken by people who want what they want, and know nothing of how it is to spends weeks, months and maybe years on a project, something written, something filmed, something produced, only to find it being offered, either free or for purchase, illegally, on the internet.

re: #375 Walter L. Newton

How do you suggest that people with real concerns about their intellectual properties deal with illegal use of their material?

I support the protection of intellectual property, where rights-holders are fairly compensated for their work. In cases of individuals mass-retransmitting or reselling media of some else’s copyrighted works for profit, I agree that civil and criminal remedies should be pursued as necessary.

However, I am also a strong proponent of fair use principles - including the ability to play music or video on the device of my choice. This proposal takes those choices away, and gives the feds the right to tap into my computer (or other digital devices) if they think I’m infringing. The draconian extortion measures that the MPAA and RIAA have tried to implement (ie multi-million dollar “fines” against people who might have downloaded a song or two-of which the actual artists don’t see a dime of) have been found to be excessive, and in a few cases actually illegal by several courts.

Then they shouldn’t carry ipods and pretend like they want to sell them.
Which is sorta one reason why I don’t do a lot of business with Radioshack, like virtually zero - they have stuff I can use or want or need, but it’s too damned hard to get anybody to help you.

Well. The reality is that this law or whatever you want to call it won’t even make a dent on copyright infringement. It’s just political window dressing. The reason they’re doing it isn’t for little old you and me. They’re doing it for the big music and publishing houses. And the punchline is this. It won’t do a damn thing for anything coming from China.

According to the industry, you’re supposed to either wait for a rebroadcast of the show, or rent/buy the DVD/BluRays. Otherwise, you’re stealing from them.

In the matter of salespeople like EmmieG ran into, who can’t figure out how to get the sale made - that’s most often a fault of the store, which fails do to any sort of proper training of their employees, just tosses them out on the floor and says, “GO”. Terrible thing to do to your employees.

re: #396 RadicalModerate

If a piece of media is offered for sale on a certain device, in a format that only runs on a certain device, and the company selling it to you has all the intellectual property rights to sell it to you, IN THAT FORMAT, and only in that format, then you have a choice of either buying it and playing it on that device, or not purchasing it.

And it’s not your job to decide if YOU like the contracts and agreements that the artist makes with the distributors, the producers, the other professionals involved in the stream that is related to the production of media. That’s the artists decisions, no one forces them to do anything.

So, you are going to infringe on the intellectual property rights of artists and writers and actors and producers because YOU don’t like the contractual arrangements that have been made?

Bullshit.

Evidently these products already exist, if there was some problem with these products, the issue would have been taken up by the content providers already, some of this technology has been around quite a while now.

And as I said above, fair use laws already exist.

What’s wrong:
Lack of training in HOW TO MAKE A SALE!!!

I’ve had similar experiences. I’ve even said to the salesperson: I am sitting here with cash in hand, ready to hand it over to your store - your employer’s store - whatever - in order to buy that thing. And because you can’t figure out how to get that sale made, for whatever reason, AND because you can’t figure out how to go ask for help, I’m going to walk out of here with my cash that could be YOURS RIGHT NOW.

AND THEY DON’T CARE.

I am so fortunate that my first sales job was quota based —no sales, no job. I did well enough to move on to a job with commission.

Nothing makes you move product like wondering if your check is going to enough to cover the rent.

“yes, maam, I just have to get help to remove the garment. It’s a two person job.” Then I’d take the garment off the form. If anyone had a issue with it, I’d point out that it was the last one in the store and SHOULD have been switched long ago.

Nowadays, they’d just look at you with deer in the headlight stares. The Store Manger would understand, but no one else would.

Walter, it’s bed time here. That said, I’ll give you an honest answer before I go.

When a service operates within the price range that the free market has shown, we’re probably all on the same page.

When a service is slightly over the the market price, you simply find a small number of clients and a small number of pirates.

When a service is massively beyond what the market will bear then you see nearly no clients and a shit load of pirates.

When it’s needed, civil disobedience is as vital a tool for the revolutionary as any other.

Ok… then I hope if someone robs you, you don’t have to rely on a “rent a cop” or a detective or finding some other means of having someone look into your robbery.

In the meantime, I go with the government to help me out, in the form of cops, the FBI and other government law enforcement agencies.

My point is that someone copy one of your plays, take your name off the script, (somehow) and produce in in commuity theatre in Florida and you’d never know.

To truly protect your rights, you have to have the ability to search for violations.

Is that why everyone has been so pissy today?

I’ve been sleeping later than usual. Although, I was snoring late this afternoon. I was never a fan of daylight savings time. Having it come in the middle of March just doesn’t make sense. It’s winter and it’s supposed to be dark early. That’s what I like about winter.

Here’s how this works… fair use… video trailer for “I never Promised You a Rose Garden”… newton.acrossthebow.com
Go ahead and stream it, copy it, distribute it, let the world know about the show and the script.

Here is where you can get a copy of the script, or purchase the rights to produce the show… shop.nextstagepress.net . Purchase the script and photocopy it, give the photocopy away to someone else, or purchase the rights to produce the play, but photocopy the scripts for the cast and crew, instead of purchasing copies for everyone, or produce the show just because you have the script, and not pay the royalties, that’s illegal.

Very simple. Do I need to hold anyones hand to explain this to them any clearer?

not quite off topic, bands don’t make money off record sales, they make money off merch and touring. So if you really want to support artists, they’ll see a ton more money from stuff you buy from their website than the itunes download or whatever

Paul, and Ringo and the Estates of John and George aren’t making money off sales? The Estate of Michael Jackson isn’t making money off sales?

Oh, good grief. Bryan Fischer, of the “American Family Association” hate group has weighed in on the Peter King dog-and-pony show from last week spewing bigotry as only he knows how:

(link is cached for your protection)
Muslims want to make White House a mosque, demolish Statue of Liberty

Over 80% of the mosques in America support the doctrines of jihad and promote the ultimate goal of Islamic rule over the United States.

In addition, according to the fusion center for the State of New York, 50 of the 88 people involved in Islamic terror plots against the U.S. since 9/11 have been U.S. citizens, with a majority of them having been born in the U.S.

If you doubt this, you need only visit the website Sharia4America to see an image of the White House converted into a mosque, and an image of the Statue of Liberty enshrouded in a burkha.

With regard to the White House, the website calls for it to be “converted into a flourishing mosque.”

The website calls on “sincere Muslims” to work for “the demolition of the Statue of Liberty,” and for it to be covered with “a large burkha” until it can be destroyed, to “shield…this horrendous eye sore from public view.”

Bottom line: no more mosques in America, period.

Fischer cites the “sharia4america” website as proof of this belief - unfortunately someone forgot to inform Fischer that this is a satire site, as evidenced by their “about us” link:

Hi and welcome to sharia4america.com

Contrary to that which you might be assuming, this website and its contributors are not suggesting that Sharia Law should be introduced in part, or in whole, in any form, into the Constitution Of The United States Of America.

The creators and contributors to sharia4america unconditionally oppose Sharia Law and its implementation. The laws of the United States, as envisioned by our Founding Fathers, are the only laws that should ever be applied.

Also, assuming it was for real, how does one group of lunatics with a website lead to ‘no more mosques’?

re: #464 Mr Pancakes

I beg your pardon?

Along with the sunshine. there’s gotta be a little rain sometimes.

And yes… that was shameless self-promotion on my part. But it makes my point. And it’s really no different for playwrights then it is for musicians. I make barely nothing for a performance of the show. My share is about 15 dollars a performance.

The author of the original book, Joann Greenberg gets a cut of the performance royalty. The publisher gets a cut. I get what’s left.

There is only two ways for me to make a large amount of money off the script, ever. That’s if someone came along and wanted to do a “grand” production (major market production, like Broadway) or the script becomes so popular that every podunk community theatre and regional theatre in the country wanted to do the show at some time or another.

Otherwise, even though the script won awards, actually launched a now very successful theatre and had positive reviews locally and in Variety, I make very little money currently from the one or two productions that are mounted every so often.

So, bottom line, I don’t want to find the show illegally produced, or the script illegally distributed. I want to protect the little that is mine.
