Re-posted from last thread - Both the New York Post and NYC news radio outlet 1010WINS have picked up on Dim Hoft's 'Weiner has a bevy of beauties on Twitter' trash and are running with it.

Of course, 1010WINS is framing it as 'the New York Post is reporting...' - as if they're not.

I loved this episode. When he jumps up and yells "NO, NO, YOU CAN LOOK INTO THESE ACCUSATIONS" I just had goosebumps. What is with these useless fucking "journalists" who let people like Andrew Breitbart, a known fraudster come on and basically call him a pedophile and basically not do any research to form a rebuttal? She basically just said 'Well, ya know, we can't really say he is a pedophile because he isn't here to defend himself..'

Really?

I also liked how he outlined the way CNN diminished these "bloggers" when in fact they are the people doing the actual journalistic investigation. (In reference to the picture IDs not matching up with what was on Mr. Weiner's account).

Disgusting bottom feeders.

This is why I post about Jim Hoft. The stupid cretin makes so much ugly noise that he actually gets noticed by right wing media and his stories get into the mainstream.

The Post story, complete with Twitter nics and pics of a few of the young women.

No doubt they'll start being harassed soon, if they haven't already.

As far as I can tell the only person who claims to have actually seen the message in question is the wingnut who was obsessed with Rep Wiener and predicting a photo sex scandal several weeks ago.

One of the blog posts I read yesterday said that several people had actually seen the tweet when it was posted.

But that Dan Wolfe guy was flat out stalking Weiner and the young woman in question. The Internet has legitimized this kind of creepy, sick, obsessive behavior to an appalling degree. And now the mainstream media characterizes Wolfe's actions as "monitoring."

Nicer touch, they left at the 5th inning & stopped the game because the helicopter made too much noise.

I thought I read that Dianna Loesch claimed to have seen it but I can't find the link. It seems unlikely that even an obsessed stalker just happened to be monitoring Wiener's yfrog account at just the right moment on a Friday night. He either knew what he was going to find or he photoshopped the screenshot.

re: #14 allegro

I saw an explanation of that earlier....
Dem Rep. Weiner Refuses To Answer TPM’s Questions On Twitter ‘Hack’

TPM asked Weiner if he could clarify why he followed the woman that received the lewd photo, which he would not discuss with CNN. His Twitter feed tracks a relatively light number of people, many of whom are politicians, public figures, and news outlets. He said that he followed some fans who used the hashtag #WeinerYes on the site as well -- we did a quick search that shows he tweeted a #WeinerYes post looking for new accounts to follow as recently as May 13.

I remember seeing a quote from the creepy stalker guy where he said (paraphrasing) 'Dianna Loesch was very helpful, she got everything' I take the 'got everything' to mean that she got the screen caps. The quote may be buried in the comments from the Hoft thread here from Sunday.

Breitbart is up to his neck in this, but the media seems utterly incapable of connecting dots these days..

I sincerely hope this episode leads to some new laws about online stalking and harassment. I remember years ago when Bill O'Reilly was up in arms about this stuff...I kinda doubt he's gonna be on Rep Weiners' side here, but it would be nice if he would be honest enough to be so.

re: #23 recusancy

No, you cannot. It's a simple matter for a stalker to continue following anyone, even if they're blocked.

37 Opal  Wed, Jun 1, 2011 9:40:02am

CNN's "report" was analyzed by Luke Russert at MSNBC and has been accepted as a starting point in "fact." Russert asserted that there is something strange about Weiner's "relationship" with young women. So, CNN goes with the Breitbart claim and MSNBC repeats it. This is the way that rumors become "facts." Weiner's career is dead unless he gets ahead of this. Weiner is/was a regular on MSNBC, and they're going after him by repeating unsubstantiated rumors. If they're doing that, Weiner has lost the game.

38 darthstar  Wed, Jun 1, 2011 9:45:46am

I like that Stewart keeps the picture of the underwear bulge up on the screen for most of the bit...listening to the MSNBC and CNN fucktards talk about the "lewd image" (they love to say 'lewd') and "picture of the lower part of a man's body" makes it sound like the image in question was of Weiner stroking an oily cock...which would, ultimately, lead Boehner to asking him to change parties.

Weiner's career is anything but dead; he's got strong support in his district, and he's likely to be reelected as long as he wishes to run for Congress.

However, he has higher aspirations than being a Congressman; he has shown an interest in being mayor or US Senator at some point.

This kerfuffle wont do anything to stop that.

That's my point. You can't block stalkers if you're going to have a public Twitter profile.

This is one of the real dark sides of the Internet. It has enabled this kind of sick obsessive behavior more than any other technology, because stalkers can almost always remain anonymous, while their targets must remain public.

Chris Christie takes state helicopter to son’s baseball game

According to the Newark Star-Ledger, Christie landed in the state's $12.5 million helicopter just before the game began, buzzing over the trees in left field and distracting spectators. The GOP governor then got into a black sedan with tinted windows, which drove him about 100 yards to the baseball diamond.

Flanked by bodyguards, Christie and his wife, Mary Pat, watched the game from the stands until they left during the 5th inning. The two got back into the car and rode back to the helicopter. According to the Star-Ledger, the game was stopped for a "couple of minutes" while the helicopter took off.

Christie's oldest son, Andrew, was playing the position of catcher in the game, which was held at a high school in Montvale, N.J.--about 80 miles away from Trenton, where the state capitol is. But it's unclear exactly where Christie was coming from because his office won't say.

I live in NY and we have been giving guvnahs a hard time about their helicopter usage since old man Mario Cuomo. If Gov. Cuomo flew into my sons baseball game, I would be having kittens. No really, I'm an evil conservative and I adore Gov. Cuomo (not in that prison inmate sorta way)

I don't know. The palanquin sounds pretty cool as long as the guards remember to stay in step.

During The Great Recession, 12 Major Corporations Made $173 Billion In Profits And Had A Negative Income Tax Rate

Close these loopholes then we'll talk cutting social programs.

They sell us an idea on corporate taxes that they are like withholding taxers on income: you earn, you pay.

Newt expressed it succinctly that General Electric has the largest legal department in the world because they perceive it to be in their interest to hire people to avoid taxes.

The Swiss system is based on the combination of low base tax rate and very limited exemptions, deductions and tax breaks. Then companies put thier eforts into making profits and not hiding them from taxation.

At least in theory it sounds reasonable.

Boss just walked in with a new piece of equipment with a 396 page manual and the words "we need this this to be working for the NHL game tonight" (satellite portion of it starts in less than 6 hours)

oh ,,, joy!

look at it this way: 3+9+6 = 18, the numerical equivalent of "chai", or "life", in Hebrew. This is considered a good portent, so I predict the equipment will be installed and in perfect working order well in time for the game.

Wait a minute...Weiner/Boehner 2012!!!!

I'm sure there is a perfectly reasonable explanation to take a limo 100 yards to a kid's baseball game.

Yes, and it takes away the opportunity for his Cheney-like admirers to "worship the ground he walks on".

It works. Recently, when UBS and Roche had (again) threatened publicly to move out of Switzerland, a Swiss daily ran an article. The thesis was, why do these companies that periodically threaten to move (over taxes, regulations, etc.) never actually go anywhere? Result of inquiry: It's worse almost everywhere else with a similarly educated workforce and infrastructure. So they stay put and bitch.

Well if, as Anthony Weiner has claimed, this was a prank in order to cause a distraction, it has worked beautifully.

Is anyone talking about Clarence Thomas' financial disclosure on Friday?

Between the Palin bus tour and weinergate, the MSM is just too damn busy to look into any real news.

And sadly nobody seems to care about the fact that one or several young women are being stalked and harassed for having the audacity to support a politician while being (apparently) attractive.

re: #80 Shropshire_Slasher

The whole improper use of state helicopters is a spectator sport in NY. It was a big deal with Cuomo, then Pataki, and then Spitzer. Then AG Cuomo looked into Spitzer's use of the choppers. Several times there were calls to end their use.

Oh, and in NJ, former Gov. Corzine was nearly killed when he was rushing to a confab between the Rutgers ladies b-ball team and Don Imus when his SUV driven by a state trooper crashed doing 95 on the GSP with lights flashing.
