CNN’s Dana Loesch Cheers Soldiers Who Urinated On Corpses

Says she would ‘drop trou’ and do it herself
Wingnuts • Views: 25,818

The public image of the United States has been damaged after video surfaced showing U.S. soldiers urinating on dead bodies in Afghanistan. Military officials have all condemned the actions.

From CNN:

I have seen the footage, and I find the behavior depicted in it utterly deplorable,” U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said in a statement. “I condemn it in the strongest possible terms.”

Marine Corps Commandant Gen. James Amos said in a statement the behavior is “wholly inconsistent with the high standards of conduct and warrior ethos that we have demonstrated throughout our history.”

Lt. Gen. Adrian Bradshaw, deputy commander of ISAF, called the actions on the video “disgusting.” “Any acts which treat the dead, enemy or friendly, with disrespect are utterly unacceptable and do not represent the standards we expect of coalition forces,” Bradshaw said in a video statement. He said he was speaking on behalf of Allen, who is out of the country.

“It is difficult to say what long-term impacts this might have, and I would hesitate to get into speculation, but obviously any sort of footage, any sort of activity of this kind that is grossly against all the moral values that the coalition forces are standing for are very much working against our cause and against everything that we are standing for and that we are here for,” said Brig. Gen. Carsten Jacobson, a NATO ISAF spokesman.

CNN “political analyst” Dana Loesch, on the other hand, apparently doesn’t care if these actions were directly working against the mission of U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan; instead, she cheered for it in order to fuel the unhinged Muslim hatred that has become a staple of modern day right-wing media. On her show, she gave the marines in question “one million cool points” and said that she would “drop trou” and “do it too.” She ended by saying: “Do I have a problem with that as a citizen of the United States? No, I don’t.”

She is pissing on soldiers, not the Talibans, our soldiers doing their job in Afghanistan and can handle the stress of combat and conduct themselves honorably. When she looks at this story and comments on it, it's kind of monkey see, monkey do.

This has nothing to do with politics and everything to do with adhering to the UCMJ and stated regulations.

Even if you excuse the urination (and to be clear I'm not), this video is still in violation of standing orders and rules prohibiting the videotaping/photography of deceased individuals (enemy combatants or otherwise).

That's still a disciplinary offense.

But the fact is that the urination on those Taliban is also conduct unbecoming a Marine, and the charges likely to be filed against the four identified Marines will likely include conduct unbecoming and a general misconduct (catchall) offense under the UCMJ (no need to look to the Geneva Conventions either).

Bad conduct is bad conduct, and the Corps will discipline these Marines as well as examine the chain of command to see whether others in the unit condoned the acts or knew and did nothing (it's the coverup that invariably gets more people in trouble).

Another fine example where the OMG MILITARY IS ALWAYS RIGHT ALL THE TIME ABOUT EVERYTHING folks are 180deg out of phase with the actual military. The strongest condemners of this action that I've seen are the honorable people in uniform. So of course the loonies of the right rush to defend it.

By running their mouths, the idiots who are defending these actions are undermining discipline in the armed forces, or at least saying the armed forces don't know how to best enforce discipline. An Army that is unruly and rule-breaking is not a good thing. I am all for pushing up the chain of command to find the real problem, but the actions themselves remain abhorrent.

BREAKING NEWS: Joran van der Sloot sentenced in Peru

LIMA, Peru - A Peruvian court on Friday sentenced Joran van der Sloot to 28 years in prison for murder of a young woman he met at a Lima casino.

The decision comes two days after the young Dutchman pleaded guilty to killing Stephany Flores and at a moment when the family of U.S. teenager Natalee Holloway is renewing efforts to bring him to the United States to face charges related to her 2005 disappearance.

The court also ordered him to pay $75,000 in reparations to the family of the 21-year-old victim. He said he reserves the right to appeal.

That's going to be a long 28 years in the brutal Peru prison system if he makes it that long..

This depends on what depth of 'politics' we are discussing. If you talking about Dem-vs-Repub type politics, sure.
But if you're having a deeper discussion about politics, issues such as xenophobia, racism, nationalism and imperialism are all interconnected. Foundational ethics and politics are interwoven.

What we as Americans don't like to think about is that it is these sorts of ethically horrendous acts that contribute so much to the PTSD and unbelievable suicide levels our troops are experiencing. 18 (successful) suicides a day. Imagine naively going over to the middle east believing you are defending American freedom, only to return and contemplate that you pissed on some probably innocent Iraqi's body.

Here is a description of his new home:

Prison conditions in Peru are known to be very poor and of very low standards. Let’s take an example of one prison in Peru, the Larri Ganchos to understand the situation in a better manner. The prison was built to hold around 3000 captives but is overcrowded with 10000 people now. There are very few guards and the lack of funds does not allow more guards to be hired. Guards are only present outside the prison and in safe areas.

The security inside the prison is maintained by the inmates who are sanctioned by the administration. There is discord within the prison on a regular basis with attacks, rapes and beatings being common almost every single day. Water is provided only twice a day to the inmates, which is barely enough. Some inmates are treated as outcasts if they commit offenses within the prison and are not given food or shelter. In times like these they look into garbage cans for food and reside in the grounds. Drugs are common in the prison and there are wild dogs in the premises as well.

This description of one prison in Peru gives us a general idea of what other prisons are bound to be like; worse, if not slightly better.

It was outrageous and sickening. We are better than that.

And therein lies the problem. Harris showed his lack of understanding in that statement. He basically admits Paterno's fault, and because it's football or Penn State, Paterno should get a pass. I think a lot of people working in the collegiate and professional sports industries have this mindset and don't trust them to do what's right taking very young but hugely talented youth and throwing a bunch of money and pressure at them.

There is no question that at the least this Marine should be dishonorably discharged. I do think however you will always have incidents like this one when we ask our young men and women to go out and kill other human beings. The process by which we condition these soldiers to hunt other human beings requires a certain degree of emotional detachment, and training to dehumanize the other side. There will always be some people who go too far with that . These are people who in all likelihood we need to watch as more often than not I suspect, they are people who are prone to a somewhat emotionally detached state. This is not meant to excuse this behavior even for a moment. It needs to be dealt with, and harshly so.
