An Amazing Coincidence: Search Google Images for Donald Trump’s Book, Find “Mein Kampf”

A fortuitous similarity
Weird • Views: 63,255

Here’s an absolutely perfect convergence of ideologies, pointed out today in an LGF comment by “Lidane.”

If you search Google Images for “crippled america,” the title of Donald Trump’s book, you’ll also find… “Mein Kampf,” the manifesto of none other than Adolf Hitler.

It’s pretty obvious why this fortuitous match-up occurs — Google Images uses an advanced image-parsing algorithm to find images similar to the one you searched for, and the portrait of Hitler on the cover of that edition of Mein Kampf is strikingly similar to the portrait of Trump on the cover of his book; similar hair, similar scowl, similar body position and head tilt.

Sometimes computer algorithms can seem scarily smart.

It’s not a complete coincidence. It’s not intentional on Google’s part, but one wonders if it is intentional on Mr. Trump’s.

There’s only one thing missing from the title of Trump’s book. It should start with ‘I’.

‘I Crippled America’.

Or maybe Trump’s inflammatory language is just that similar to Hitler’s? I don’t really like drawing Hitler comparisons because the dude was seriously evil, but if the shoe fits…

I don’t think anyone messed with it - compare the two portraits, they’re very similar. I think the image matching algorithm did its thing and this is what it came up with.

It’s hilarious to watch the GOP try desperately to kill Trump’s campaign, while at the same time the wingnuts only fall more in love with him. At this point, even a consolation prize of Cruz winning the nomination might lead to a lot of screeching and wailing. Not that the wingnuts will actually refuse to vote for the eventual candidate, because they’d crawl over hot coals and broken glass to keep a Democrat out of the White House.

Chris Sybo stepped out of the Doubletree Hotel for a quick early morning walk along the beach when he spotted a coffee lover’s dream: hundreds of sealed, yellow cans of coffee dotting the sand and seaweed for at least a mile.

“It was just filled with it,” said Sybo, visiting the area from Pittsburgh to attend his daughter’s graduation at Florida Institute of Technology.

“I came out early this morning and saw it. I went back and told a worker and said you ought to see the beach. It’s like Christmas coffee,” he said as more than a dozen beachcombers for about a mile scooped up the sand-covered cans and stuffed them into bags.

The coffee — possibly from a missing load of containers that fell overboard from a barge over the weekend — washed up along the shore in Indialantic overnight, dotting the beaches sandwiching either side of the Doubletree Hotel, 1665 State Road A1A.

“The reason people are permanently poor in the United States,” Shapiro said, “isn’t because they don’t have money, it’s because they suck with money. The reasons people are temporarily poor can vary.” As a rumble ran through the crowd, Shapiro continued, “That’s not even controversial. If you’re permanently poor [in America] for your entire life, you’re not great with money by definition…”

What an asshole! These people are so fucking vile. This is what Shapiro said to get shut down - I would have shut him down too.

Unfortunately, the shutdown just confirms the breitbarters’ view that America’s educators are all radical lefties. None of them are smart enough to understand that Shapiro was speaking not from any kind of empirical data, but from his own hardened ideology.

re: #127 BeachDem

I’ve noticed that some GOP/TPers will support anyone who has been on Fox News or has been mentioned as a “shining” light in conservative circles, and they do it without vetting the individual. Take Palin, for example. Millions of GOP/TPers flocked to her because she was a right-wing media sensation. It was only later, many years later, before they began to see what many of us had seen the first time we listened to her speeches——she is not a thinker, she lacks substance, she treats serious matters like they’re of little importance, denies reality, repeats right-wing talking points endlessly, and her specialty is attacking democrats/liberals/progressives.

It was only after Shapiro revealed his obnoxious “theory” about why the poor are poor that the principal realized who/what he had invited—an offensive, biased, right-wing nut who isn’t ashamed about hurting the feelings of others, even kids.

Good freaking grief.

‘Dino Pastor’ preaches in Wright Township about science behind creationism

WRIGHT TWP. — The “Dino Pastor” brought his message and evidence that he says proves creation and Noah’s flood Saturday night.

The Rev. Paul E. Veit talked about topics such as pyramids, rock cuts, elongated skulls and aliens to prove creationism in the front of New Life Community Church, 570 S. Main Road.

“Evolutionists definitely needs aliens,” Veit said during his presentation. Veit said that there are three things people should question about evolution — aliens’ distance to earth, the scientific laws and that the Bible only teaches about God and heaven. “The Bible mentions no other beings, that’s not fair to aliens.”

Describing the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON), Veit reminded individuals that there is one group who has never claimed to be taken by aliens: the born again Christians. “The born again’s who have asked God for forgiveness,” he said.

As he described rock cuts, Veit told the few dozen in attendance that “man is and always was brilliant,” even as the technology King Solomon and his followers used became lost to history until the 1800s.

Dave Elick, pastor of New Life Community Church, said he brought in Veit to “contradict education” especially for younger people. “We are flooded with information and people can care less,” Elick said. He claimed that education in modern America presents evolution and not creationism. “People need to do their due diligence.”

Veit brought his mobile museum of authentic fossils for presentation. They included dinosaur poop, a replica of an enlongated skull and dinosaur eggs.

James Zaroda, 5, was with his grandfather when the Dino Pastor was setting up. Zaroda was able to carry in a toe bone of a dinosaur.

“It was fun,” Zaroda said after the talk and slide show.

When John Robaczewski brought up carbon dating, Viet went into another slide show that helps dispel the science.

“When you look at dates, sometimes it’s off by millions of years,” Veit said, talking about lava that was carbon dated from Mount St. Helens, Washington state.

With the evidence he presented, Veit knows “evolution looks dead in its place.”

I wrote this when someone said they wouldn’t vote out of fear:

It’s not out of fear, it’s out of realism and an acknowledgement of how bad a person like Trump could make things for people who would be helpless to stop him. We could march in the streets in protest after something awful is done to Muslim Americans, or we could do what it takes to insure Trump never has the chance.

And once again, Bernie turns the subject of fascism and the Overton window back to his sweet spot—income inequality. I know he has a great message, and I do love the guy, but sometimes you have to directly address the issue at hand.

He’s on Rachel, saying that people are angry and taking it out on Muslims, but what they’re really angry about is income inequality (paraphrasing obviously.) Sometimes the problem isn’t a nail, even if you’re holding a big hammer.

This is why I am supporting Hillary. I too love Bernie and love his politics, but his instincts as a campaigner are not good. And when you couple that with his refusal to accept superpac money (which means he’ll be operating on a deficit the whole election) and I just don’t see him winning. And to me, this election can’t be lost. It’s too damn important.

I am puzzled by Trump’s posturing about running as an independent again. As we learned last summer, there are rules in place to make such a thing prohibitively difficult.

I guess if his moronic supporters believe he can build a wall across the border (which the Mexicans will pay for) and keep all Muslims out of the country, he can magically get on the ballot in all 50 states as an independent.

I’d recommend watching it yourself to make sure I haven’t overstated it. But, I heard the same thing has happened before. For example, when he was in Baltimore, his staff people told reporters not to ask him any questions about ISIS as he was there to talk about other issues. And, supposedly, somebody asked him an ISIS question and he got pissed and eventually walked out. And his one-sentence comment about terrorism at the debate before he launched into his main issue. He’s really sounding one note.

A president has to be able to change gears quickly and think on his/her feet (that lets you out, little Marco) and Bernie doesn’t seem to be able to go off script very well. I think his issues are important, and I’m glad he’s running and talking about them, but I just don’t think it’s enough to make him viable as President.

Looking at Twitter replies is like reading the comments: there is little point of doing it anywhere where there is not a community happy to put in the work to make it not a cesspool. Since Twitter provides so little in the way of moderating tools, it’s virtually impossible to find that standard.

In other words, I wouldn’t bother.

re: #293 wheat-dogghazi-mailgate

Trying to back it up with historical references. The book was his graduation thesis. His adviser at least tried to make it resemble an academic work of history.

And, if I recall correctly (which I do) it didn’t win the award for best in class. And he was quite put out about it. From his whiny-ass blog at Claremont:

Mike Whatley CMC ‘11 and Andrew Grimm CMC ‘11 won the two highest awards the Government Department can bestow, that of Best Government Student and Best Government Thesis.

Whatley had the highest G.P.A. in the major, so he was the natural choice. Good on him.

A previous version of this post was inaccurate. I have been informed that my sources on the government department list were mistaken or I failed to understand them properly. The conversation on the awards, apparently, was wide-ranging and so there was some confusion as to how it occurred by the professors I spoke with.

Grimm apparently won the best government thesis award by consensus, according to Professor George Thomas, his thesis reader, who emailed me this morning.

The close vote I mentioned previously was between me and unnamed student who won best thesis to address public affairs. (I was apparently nominated for both awards.) I do not know who that student is, but I wish her all the luck as well.

Again, congratulations to all of the of my fellow Government honors and please accept my apologies both for getting it wrong. It was what I had heard, but apparently I heard wrong.

Note—of course, it’s not that he GOT it wrong—he just HEARD wrong—somebody else screwed up; never the Rage Furby.

The original whine:

Grimm and I competed for Best Government thesis, with his work on debt winning out against my work on Coolidge.

The vote was very close between different factions of the Government department, with 6 votes in his favor, 5 votes for mine, and 6 votes abstaining. This is, as best as I understand it, unprecedented in the history of the department. More often than not, the decision is by consensus. Here a vote took place.

I confess to being very confused with this result, especially as I don’t see how it was possible for both theses in contention to have been read, merely a day after we had to hand them in. My own readers haven’t been able to read all of my thesis, so I don’t know what rubric the decision was made.

So, to recap. He was nominated for two awards; lost both of them; somebody gave him bad information about how the awards were determined—that the other guy won by consensus and it was not a close vote at all, but it wasn’t his fault because he just heard it wrong. Or something.

I am sad that I know all of this.
