Anti-Gay Hate Group Invites Kim Davis to SOTU

Religious fanatics in politics
Politics • Views: 46,356

Anti-gay hate group Family Research Council will be represented at tonight’s State of the Union address, of course, because Republicans continue to fight like demons to legalize bigotry; and they’re inviting their new superstar to attend: Kim Davis to attend State of the Union.

The Kentucky clerk briefly jailed last year for refusing to hand out marriage licenses to gay couples is slated to attend President Obama’s final State of the Union address, a source has confirmed to The Hill.

Kim Davis will attend Obama’s speech Tuesday night after the Family Research Council arranged for her to be in the House audience along with her attorney Mat Staver.

The Rowan County clerk will be in the audience along with Jim Obergefell, the plaintiff in the Supreme Court case legalizing gay marriage across the country, who will be a guest of President Obama.

The really appalling part of this story is that a virulent hate group like Family Research Council is politically well-connected enough to get people into the State of the Union address.

Right as you posted this, I saw this from NBC News:

And I’m thinking to myself, why would I care that a homophobic government official who abused her position of power and ignored state and federal law is at the SOTU?

It’s because there are plenty of other homophobes out there who’d like to see Obergefell reversed and SSM made illegal. And they’re a significant portion of the GOP core constituency.

“Keep an eye out for Kim Davis at tonight’s #SOTU address”

Hopefully that means they’ll zoom in on her fidgeting uncomfortably every time bigotry and ignorance are alluded to.

re: #10 Charles Johnson

Disenfranchisement. It doesn’t mean what the NOM thinks it means. It doesn’t mean depriving LBGT the right to marry so that you can continue your bigotry and homophobia.

What Obergefell also means is that the NOM no longer has a reason to exist, and your ability to grift from fellow homophobes is now all the more difficult, meaning you’ve got to go get a real job. And that’s the most terrifying thing of all to the NOM nitwits who have spent years grifting on this issue.

OT: Just in case any of you hear about this from RWNJ, a new thing seems to be creating fake websites for actual mosques/Islamic centers portraying them as pro-terrorist and advocating violence.

Someone has found a new method with which to cast further suspicion on law-abiding American Muslims (and possibly get some of them killed). The problem is that since the radical Islamists and the hateful Islamophobes basically have the same agenda—to foster mistrust, fear and resentment between Muslims who were born and/or live in the West and the societies they live in—at this point it’s impossible to guess who might be behind it. There’s a news video at the link.

Website purporting to be for Wheaton mosque promotes Islamist agenda

Law enforcement officials are trying to determine who’s behind a website that promotes violence while using the name and close facsimile of the logo of a west suburban Islamic organization.

The website purports to represent the Islamic Center of Wheaton, a mosque and community center at 900 E. Geneva Road. The center’s website provides information on worship times, Ramadan, classes, events, volunteer opportunities and facility rental.

At the time the site was launched, emails were sent to Wheaton officials, including police Chief James Volpe. Police quickly confirmed that the center’s leaders were not behind the site, Volpe said.

A site with a similar domain name was created about Jan. 6. It advocates violent acts and asserts Shariah law is coming to Wheaton. The site also praises those who launched deadly attacks in Paris and San Bernardino, Calif., as holy martyrs.

The site copies information from the center’s program teaching Muslim youths about Islam, Arabic and memorizing the Quran but tops the page with photos of children carrying Islamic State flags and wielding automatic guns. […]

re: #44 Patricia Kayden

Why would Kim Davis want to attend the SOTU and have to sit there listening to such a great sinner like President Obama, who supports that icky gay marriage thing? I have zero interest in attending a Men’s Rights Activist conference or a KKK rally, for example. I wonder if she’s going just to make a scene.

Sarah Palin’s giving her tips about staying in the public eye after your 15 minutes are up.

Easy to explain. Just like TRUMP®, he is just using good business judgement and making money for his family/backers/bank/investors and would not be doing this if the laws were different.

Her reaction look will probably be confusion trying to figure out the big words Obama is using. And maybe a look of uneasiness as she tries to squeeze out a silent fart.

BTW, I discussed the SmartMeter technology with MrBWS and he confirmed that the electric to the bird sanctuary can be cut off remotely from main office of the power supplier.
He also said that federal and state facilities like the FWL bird sanctuary and parks more often than not have dedicated lines going to the facilities with no other customers sharing the circuit.

This happened in 2008 with Obama and Clinton. I think we’ve forgotten how acrimonious and ugly the primaries were between the Obama and Clinton supporters (especially online). I honestly thought women were going to flock to support the Republican ticket because of Palin. Thank goodness everything worked out well in the end and Obama won in a mini landslide.
