Get out the vote!

Remember that a lot of Trump supporters hate the GOP nearly as much as they hate the Democrats and are voting for him to spite them both.

trump’s tax plan

A few hours after Donald J. Trump publicly backed away from a $1 trillion tax cut for small businesses, campaign aides on Thursday privately assured a leading small-business group that Mr. Trump in fact remained committed to the proposal — winning the group’s endorsement.

The campaign then told the Tax Foundation, a conservative-leaning Washington think tank it asked to price the plan, that Mr. Trump had indeed decided to eliminate the tax cut.

Call it the trillion-dollar lie: Both assertions cannot be true.

So the Mrs and I are headed to visit my mom in Tennessee. We’ll be seeing our nieces while we’re there. Mrs Cranky cranked out a couple of quilts for the girls as a surprise (I’d apologize for that phrasing but it just seemed to fit ;-) ).

Just finished the quilts and washed them. Now out to dry.

Made them identical because, well, you know how siblings can be. Hope the girls like them.

Perhaps during this short interval where the media have found their balls, they could delve into Trump’s misunderstanding of blind trusts.

Amazingly, Trump has managed to blur the distinction between a blind trust and the opposite of a blind trust so thoroughly that the media is now repeating his own terms. “The Republican nominee has previously indicated,” reports Politico, “that he would place the businesses in a blind trust run by his children and executives.” Again, a “blind trust run by his children and executives” is not a thing.

So after a night of pondering just WHY Trump made such short work of the #Unbirthering yesterday, here’s what I’ve got:

It was deliberately kept so brief to give Trump an out.

Yes, he acknowledged that Obama was born in the US. BUT…

He didn’t say the birth certificate was real. He didn’t address the slanders about Frank Marshall whoever being the real father. Nothing about “seekrit MOOSLIM” either.

And I’ll bet you it stays that way from now until forever.

You knew he was a snake all along…

Update to my page about the mosque arsonist:

It appears that Hava Holzhauer, the Regional Director for the ADL in Florida, agrees with what I said above—namely that the hate speech Schreiber posted is similar to that of ant-Muslim bigots, whose posts he apparently re-shared. Emphasis added:

Holzhauer has looked closely at Joseph Schreiber’s Facebook page. She even recognizes some of the hate speech he posted and she says those comments are not widely held Jewish views.

“For example, re-sharing posts of prominent American anti-Muslim bigot Walid Shoebat who also has an ideology, which is not uncommon in United States— among bigots of not differentiating between radical Muslims or extremist Muslims and everybody else— but he puts them altogether, so this is what’s concerning,” Holzhauer, said. […]

More: ADL responds to arrest of Jewish suspect in mosque arson

I don’t know when/if the public at large will ever realize what a malignancy these bigots are on the body of our society. They’re NOT only a danger to Muslims.

That is all. Returning to my Saturday now—carry on with whatever you were discussing before I so rudely interrrupted and went OT.

Speaking of deplorables:

Penn State fans gave a standing ovation after the first of the university’s three videos honoring the late Joe Paterno, while some Temple fans in the upper deck turned their backs in protest.

One red-lettered sign, behind the Owls fans, said, “He turned his back so we’ll turn ours.”

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of Paterno’s first game as head coach — a 15-7 win over Maryland on Sept. 17, 1966 — Penn State decided to honor the longtime coach with several videos “on the impact to student-athletes” and by having two co-captains from his first team participate in the coin toss before Saturday’s game against Temple.

We went out for a while today and

- had brunch in a pub,
- saw two bicycle races around City Hall,
- browsed South Market and Quincy Market for souvenirs for family,
- stopped at another pub for a quick drink,
- walked through Beacon Hill, and
- briefly attended a weed-fest.

Waiting for more friends from New Hampshire to join us for an early dinner now. The wife went for a dip in the pool while I catch up on internet stuff.

One small disappointment - three days in Boston and I haven’t discovered a single guitar shop that’s not called Guitar Center! I’m usually able to find at least one within a few hours of hitting town.

Gotta raise muh game here.

\\\

That’s what gets me about the Nazis. They tend to portray themselves as pure uber white European Christian exemplars of humanity, yet when you actually look at their “ideology”, (Quotes because when you look at it, it’s really just a load of crap thrown together at short notice in order to justify their currently held views, whatever they might be at the current picosecond.) it’s a hodge-podge of wacky shit from all over the world, all over time, all over whatever religion supported their view at some brief time- never mind if it’s Christian. “Pepe the Frog” and those anime alt-right avatars are prime examples of what I’m talking about. It’s effectively a globalist meme being co-opted by stupid gits that profess to be against that sort of thing.

And, as you’ve noted, they’re fucking cowards.

Well, you have the “Sarah’s Dream (Nuclear Nightmare)” scene in Terminator 2. James Cameron did a pretty decent dramatization of a 1-2 MT device air-bursting over L.A.
IIRC, there was some commotion about it being exaggerated, and I’ve heard over the grapevine that one Hibakusha saw the movie, including that scene. And when asked if Cameron went OTT, said. “It will be at least that bad. And then add some.”
Personally, the only error I find is Sarah Connors skeleton remaining as intact as it does after the shockwave hits.

re: #82 Teukka

Artistic license.

Hence the tagline for the movie: “The closest to nuclear war you ever want to get.”

Kasparov is a huge wingnut himself, but at least he’s on the right side here.

Anyone at that level of brilliance isn’t sane.

That is ugly fear-mongering. That is why DEMOCRATS DIDN’T NOMINATE HER.

She has made amends, accomplished much since then, and in this election has been above reproach. I thought Christians were big on redemption and second chances. Guess not.

I got another reminder this morning of how fantastic the community here is.

Also, that point where you discover another hobby that is YOUR ZEN THING and you could do it forever?

Thanks to BFBW for his patience this morning. :)

The family that shoots together…..uh….I got nothing.

Although, that range can be a little hot and dry, so the family that arches together parches together.

re: #15 A Cranky One

So the Mrs and I are headed to visit my mom in Tennessee. We’ll be seeing our nieces while we’re there. Mrs Cranky cranked out a couple of quilts for the girls as a surprise (I’d apologize for that phrasing but it just seemed to fit ;-) ).

Just finished the quilts and washed them. Now out to dry.

Made them identical because, well, you know how siblings can be. Hope the girls like them.

Ooooh! Pretty
