Two Days Before Election, FBI Announces They Found Nothing Incriminating in the Emails on Weiner’s Computer

FBI malfeasance
Politics • Views: 35,105

Here’s some big news that isn’t really shocking, because I expected nothing else. FBI director James Comey announced today that they have completed their review of the emails found on Anthony Weiner’s computer, and found nothing in them that incriminates Hillary Clinton.

So that’s it, folks. The end of the email controversy. This pseudo-scandal is as overcooked as soggy pasta.

And James Comey’s “bombshell” announcement a week ago, in the final days of a presidential election, now looks even more wildly irresponsible. Why didn’t they just do the review and then announce the results?

The sad fact is that Comey’s initial announcement has already done whatever damage it was going to do, and this follow-up completely exonerating Clinton, two days before election day, comes too late to reverse that damage.

Comey needs to be subjected to a serious ethical review. This has been one of the most jaw-dropping abuses of power we’ve seen from the FBI since the days of J. Edgar Hoover.

Or, they’ve connected him to a taser wire, so if he starts talking crazy they can just zap him and it’ll look like he’s doing air guitar.

As for the FBI, from what I hear about government service, he better start using up his PTO, because I think he’s going to lose it come January… Maybe take the end of the year off with a sudden case of the Floridas.

I’m so done with the Trump nuts and their sycophants at the FBI, particularly in the NY office. Comey indulged them and their indictment fantasies with the initial letter after still more emails were “found” even though no one had eyes on any of the emails found on Weiner’s computer.

After Comey gave Chaffetz the letter indicating that there was a renewed look, the GOP ran with this that there was an indictment in the offing and let speculation run rampant.

None of this was true, and there certainly wasn’t any evidence supporting any of this, but speculation was all the Trump nuts have. That’s all Trump had left, because they saw how Clinton had basically crushed every path to 270.

Now, just hours before Election Day, the FBI Director had to admit that after actually reviewing what they got from Weiner’s computer - they had precisely nothing..

Nothing. No malfeasance. Nothing incriminating involving Clinton. Nothing.

And for this, every last person involved in the chain of command that let Comey issue the letter needs to be investigated and reprimanded at a minimum. The NY office needs a house-cleaning, which the GOP will bray is politically motivated, but in reality is to eliminate the political motivations that led to them trying to alter the outcome of the presidential election on a lie. A lie perpetrated from within the NY office.

Moreover, the FBI better launch an investigation into the actions and statements of Rudy Giuliani, whose statements indicate that he and multiple agents within the FBI talked about the email investigation in an improper manner - a criminal matter which should have lasting and permanent consequences for Rudy and those agents.

For all the talk about how Rudy and the Trump campaign are law and order, they sure have an odd way to showing it - through extreme lawlessness and disorder.

I’m going to miss President Obama

“Apparently his campaign has taken away his Twitter,” a bemused Obama told the crowd at a campaign rally for Hillary Clinton in Kissimmee, Florida.

“In the last two days, they had so little confidence in his self-control they said we are just going to take away your Twitter. Now, if somebody can’t handle a Twitter account, they can’t handle the nuclear codes,” Obama said. “If somebody starts tweeting at three in the morning because SNL made fun of you, then you can’t handle the nuclear codes.”

I’m actually puzzled why Republicans don’t think Hillary Clinton would make a really excellent Chief Executive. If, as they truly believe, she has committed multiple serious crimes over decades of public and private life and left not one piece of admissable evidence in her wake despite constant scrutiny and many high-level investigations which turned up nothing then it seems to me that her ability to plan and successfully execute complex schemes, often several at a time approaches the level of organisational genius. That sounds like just the sort of President America needs.

To reminisce about their days in Viet Nam.

I’m still toying with the idea of an alternate history spoof about Trump, Nugent, Romney, and Phil Robertson in Vietnam.
In one episode, for example, the bumbling LT Trump gets himself captured by the local Vietcong. Still waiting for his chaplain’s appointment, Captain Romney emerges from his trailer long enough to order Corporal Robertson to effect a rescue. Armed with some cash Trump had left on his bunk, Robertson opens secret negotiations and tries to bribe the VC honcho with passes to the Dragon Lady’s House of Pleasure, enough for the whole cadre. Private Nugent is sent to make the buy but runs into some old friends and the group ends up using all the passes.
Hilarity ensues.

My wingnut friends have gone the other way: “Oh, so they’re not going to charge her… Very interesting…” Obviously trying to imply that someone was pressured into dropping everything.

Clearly he was piled into the back of a black helicopter and taken to a meeting with the Alien Jew Lizards who run the NWO, and it was made explicitly clear to him that either he, or a cyborg clone of him, was going to clear Killary, one way or the other. And would he really want his kids raised by a clone from Centaurus XVII?

re: #89 b.d.

I am of the sentiment that long lines are not a sign of a healthy democracy but a sign of a community that doesn’t do enough to make sure that voting should be easy and not a pain in the ass, it is too important.

There was a time in Ohio not so long ago you had one day to vote.

Now you have centers like the ones Sleuth is posting images of in Cincinnati and Columbus where you can vote daily starting the second week of October. We also can request a mail-in ballot which is what I did. And then there are the neighborhoods polls that will be open 6 AM to 7 PM on Tuesday.

It really is easier than it was and some of those in the long lines could have gone earlier, but humans wait until the last weekend..or maybe making their minds up late.

Hell, we thought it was bad when Rmoney turned off all of his campaign staff’s credit cards (and cell phones too, IIRC) Election Night 2012 when it became painfully obvious that he would lose, stranding more than a few people far from home.

We ain’t seen anything yet.

I had the same thought earlier.

Then it was - Rah! Rah! Rah! GO COMEY! LOCK HER UP!

And now - Hillary got to him.

Heh. Reminds me of Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck fighting over the beginning of duck or rabbit season and flipping the sings around and confusing the whole thing to where Daffy admits it’s duck season and gets his head blown around.

Apparently, Ted Nugent is going to play the National Anthem at Trump’s rally in Sterling Heights MI….

yikes

I’m sure it will be every bit as successful as “The Nuge’s” concert in NH earlier this year:

According to the Sun, the festival has been beset by abysmal ticket sales and failed to draw much of an audience Friday — even though tickets to see Nugent were slashed from $67 for general admission to $5. The band scheduled to play Saturday cancelled.

Please, all of you, GOTV! I have never felt so much fear and panic watching any election as I have this one. Trump is truly an existential threat, both to the US and the world. He must be defeated, and, just to reign in some of the chaos, by a landslide for preference. So, vote. Help others vote. Make phone calls. Do whatever you can. The world is holding its breath, waiting for this sh*t storm to be over. Tuesday can’t come soon enough.
