re: #15 Dragonomics
I voted for Hillary. It was a ghost town at my polling place, but I live in a neighborhood that’s 50% working class and 50% hipster. The hipster contingency was still caffeinating and the workers not yet done working.
My polling place had no line either. It makes me feel a little guilty how easy it was to vote knowing that there are districts with huge lines.
Huge lines……that’s the real story regarding “rigged” elections and stealing elections. How many people turn away when they see long lines? I bet it is a lot more than the handful of cases of voter fraud.
So I got up at 5:00 this morning (ugggh!) and headed down to the Hillary office to do a few hours of get out the vote (phoning Michigan this morning), as I’ve done every weekday — not this early — for seems like years. Someone should tell them that allowing enough helpers in that the network chokes is counterproductive, but the calling was continuous.
Then I voted on the way home. It took about 45 minutes — 10-15 minute wait for the ballot, about the same to get to a voting booth as I’m too old to sit on the floor, and the rest to fill out and check everything on the EIGHT PAGE ballot (two pages for national and statewide offices, two pages for 17 state propositions, a page for local offices, another for local propositions, and two pages for the two local offices that are ranked choice). But it’s DONE.
Now I’m planning to go and see Dr. Strange later this afternoon. If I don’t fall asleep and wake up after it starts.
[Someone needs to tell Sam Wang that his opening hours for CA polling places are wrong. The polls close at 8:00, not 11:00. Is he talking about postmarks or something?]
Is anyone else getting excited about tonight? I’m honestly not that scared right now.

Back from the polls. Took all of 10 minutes (I let some guy go ahead of me.) Close to 500 had already voted in my precinct (for local elections, that number seldom tops 100.) Sadly, probably just means more Repubs getting off their lazy asses and voting.
The three lady poll workers smiled when they saw my white outfit—two are regulars who always work there, one new one. One is a white hair from Philadelphia; one an African American; the new one, I believe, Indian—pretty sure they’re all Dems. One male poll worker—think he’s a Repub.
Didn’t vote straight ticket because I wanted to actually click next to Hillary/Tim. Only two other races with Dem contenders—Senate and US House. Every other freaking race, an uncontested Republican. I left all blank except for my idiotic State Rep, Alan “zombie voters are ruining SC” Clemmons—I wrote in “Anyone But” in that race.

In short, we must get better at intimidating voters who don’t want to vote for us again if we want to win. Glad he’s in New York. Maybe HAW will finally dump his ass when he gets arrested for causing a scene at the Trump Tower.
So this ad just played on CNN.

Okay, hear me out here but could we see the last of Marco Rubio tonight? That was a race I wasn’t too bullish on but now I’m starting to think my fellow millennial Murphy may have it in him.

I am curious what justification there is for making pictures of your ballot illegal.
It’s harder/less certain to buy votes if you can’t get proof that someone actually voted a certain way.

To prevent people from selling their votes.

I like how Trump’s “book” is on a bigger fire sale than some stupid Bill O’Reilly book.

So you can’t sell your vote. Or rather, you can’t prove to a vote buyer that you’ve followed through.
I am having fantasies that Melania just wrote in “Help Me, I’m being held against my will” on her ballot.

Book-like product
re: #30 Big Beautiful Door
According to Slate. Clinton’s votes in Florida already exceed Obama’s in 2012, while Trump still lags Romney’s 2012 total. Without Florida, Trump has to win Michigan and Pa.
That says to me the women of Florida are out voting for her…and hopefully a sign that women all over this country are doing the same.
Also an increase in percentage of Hispanic/Latino and Blacks.

Trump’s “book” was called Crippled America. Really.

Hey, don’t know if you voted early or not but if you did vote today, what was your feel? I originally thought your state was going Trumpy’s way but I’ve gotten more bullish on Ohio over the weekend.

Thanks to Obama’s gas prices he can intimidate voters at a low low price.
If only people with at least 4 grandparents born in America were voting, Trump would win in a 50-state landslide.

Twitter management listening to that should be embarrassed as all hell, their brand just became synonymous with unwarranted abuse and harassment in a court of law. I love Twitter, or rather I should say I love what Twitter could be if it would police and moderate it’s community to elementary social norms of behavior.

Everyone should check out Eichenwald’s twitter feed over the last 24 hours. He’s been laying out the career and character of Trump in an absolutely devastating series of tweets.

Wow…70% of registered voters voting in Philly. Cool. I guess they take their civic duty serious in the City of Brotherly Love and home of The Bill of Rights and The US Constitution.
Way to go Philly! I’ll never forget my time in the city for the Bicentennial celebration.

Nope.
Agreed. Stopped watching when I realized it was going to be a sanitized, anodyne “both sides”, let’s-normalize-support-of-fascism type thing.

Oh, Jesus! UpChuck Johnson has somehow made it to New York?
On the positive side, it’s New York: one more ugly sketchy sleazoid scruffing along in the streets, and lurking around behind dumpsters probably won’t be noticed much.
On the negative side: it’s Chuck Johnson - how much more of a negative IS there?

Can’t prove to someone that you voted the way you were told, either they payed you to vote a certain way or they told you to vote a certain way ‘or else’ (e.g. boss to worker, vote Trump or don’t come into work on Wednesday). If pics are illegal they can’t make you ‘prove’ how you voted.
I just got back from voting. Voted for Hillary as well as local Democrats here in Des Moines (Polk County). On a related note, one of my former college professors I’m friends with on Facebook who voted for Hillary made a satirical sticker that says “I Rigged”.
