Two of the most moving things I’ve seen today at the polls and one of these hits close to home. One is old women including some who were born before women got the right to vote, voting. The other and one that hits home is people especially women who have been naturalized voting.

So Project Veritas has a place where you can report your suspicion of “voter fraud”. I decided to mess with it by giving my name as “Berevtov Szanitiy” and that I was up in Massena NY and saw “black foreigners” cross the US-Canada border to vote. You can upload a photo of what you saw, so I uploaded this pic.

One very very accurate industry source just dropped in with this info:

The Heresy-era Deimos Rhino is complete and ready to roll as a plastic kit.
Its basic chassis was completed in CAD long ago, and is now fully designed on sprue.
The hallmark circular side doors are multi-part - ensuring the kit can serve as the basis for other Rhino-based vehicles such as the Predator.
The tracks are the integral one part designs built into the side sections of the vehicle, as seen on some recent kits - doing away with the tedious wheel and track components.
No word on the timing of the Deimos release - but GW could get it into production at will.

Makes me wonder, could McMullin disrupt things a bit in Arizona too? I admit that part of the reason why I thought AZ may go Clinton’s way was the Hispanics but there’s a decent sized Mormon community there too.

Fushimi Inari Taisha may be one of my favorite places ever.

No really this is so magic.

The crowds at the bottom were horrible (hordes of tourists not paying a damn bit of attention to where they were going) but when you hiked further up it got better and better. We did the whole loop which was fantastic but involved a lot of stairs. I like stairs. Stairs are not horrible and don’t lead to nearly as many mental images of rolling down the hill. Rod Dreher has this to pimp today from some obnoxious Brit right wing idiot:

I appreciate that, for American liberals in particular, patriotism is not about where your ancestors came from but an ideal, and an attachment to a set of values. This is heartfelt and genuine, and you are certainly right to abhor racism, but if you try to ignore human nature you will fail in whatever your goal is. Another result of multiculturalism is that the more diversity there is, the more white support there will be for radical right-wing parties at the national level. This is happening across Europe, and it can only be further accelerated when the multicultural party promotes identity politics, as the Democrats are masters of - because either no one does identity politics, or everyone does. This is where Trump comes along.

Donald Trump is not my cup of tea; he is the very antithesis of those mild-mannered northern European values I outlined earlier and as a human being does not seem to possess a single redeeming feature. But the nationalism he espouses, which seems like a derivative of Patrick Buchanan’s 1992 platform, would paradoxically make the United States in the long term far more like the egalitarian social democracy the Left likes.

I guess that doesn’t reflect real well on white America, if what he says is actually true…

Oh…this also: Dreher started up with the red pill/MRA “cathedral” meme last week. Because of course. Now, he isn’t actually alt right because (in his own words) “they wouldn’t want anything to do with a God Botherer like me

He’s just alt right curious.

Driftglass takes careful aim at the media and fires away: driftglass.blogspot.com

The Beltway media is … an amusement park, staffed with actors dressed up to look like journalists in order to give aging Boomers a titillating-but-ultimately-reassuring ride through the day’s headlines on their way to a gift shop stocked with all the dick pills and reverse mortgages they could ever want.
Ans so when when actual news happens — when the nation is faced with calamities like war, or economic disaster or the most dangerously unhinged candidate to run for president in history — the amusement park staff freak out, because nowhere in their corporate handbook did anyone ever think to include a contingency plan for evacuating the park and getting everyone to safety just in case one of our two major political parties goes nuts and starts setting fire to the place.

No one would would expect Disneyland’s audio-animatronic Lincoln to stride out of the park and start presidenting should we ever face a line-of-succession crisis, and no one should ever expect actual journalism from sock-puppets and hacks likes Chuck Todd or Joe Scarborough or Mark Halperin. These are compliant corporate employees and while they clearly have no idea what to do in this crisis, they damn well know what not to do.

For me, it was because I was so bitterly opposed to the war in Iraq that once I heard RP’s views about US foreign policy in the Middle East, and coming from a Republican on top of it, I felt empowered. In laymen’s terms, I was using his stance as a cudgel to attack other Republicans who blindly supported the war in Iraq and used him as an example of someone that went astray and wasn’t afraid to do so.

Of course, that all changed after Obama won in 2008 and my views on the domestic front shifted even more. As much as I feel foreign policy is important in a candidate, I can’t discount domestic policy either, and that is something he was sorely lacking in.

And that also cemented the fact that I can never be a Libertarian.

Luntz also served as Newt Gingrich’s pollster in the mid-1990s for the Contract with America.[15] During that time, he helped Gingrich produce a GOPAC memo that encouraged Republicans to “speak like Newt” by describing Democrats and Democratic policies using words such as “corrupt,” “devour,” “greed,” “hypocrisy,” “liberal,” “sick,” and “traitors.”

That’s not a surprise unfortunately. I feel bad for the miners honestly. You guys haev heard me talked about it. 392
Nyet  Nov 8, 2016 • 3:08:54pm

It struck me just now.

In Soviet texts they had to name the NSDAP in some way, the generic “fascists” and “Hitlerites” didn’t always do the trick, if you’re writing semi-serious history or an encyclopedic entry you have to spell out what NS meant. But that meant saying that it was a “national socialist” party, and that was a no-no.

So they named it “natsional-sotsialistskaya partiya”. Whereas normally one would have to name it “natsional-sotsialisticheskaya partiya”.
Grammatically the first version is more or less like “the National Socialists party”. Not really a socialist party, just a party of someone calling themselves such. Sort of like the “Democrat” party.

I’m willing to treat any Republican as a politically civilized person under two conditions:

1) A full and complete acknowledgement of the GOP’s offenses against democracy since the civil rights realignment.

2) A sincere commitment, seen in real action as opposed to just words, to sin no more on that front.

That’s actually a pretty generous offer. They can still advocate for starving granny all they want, just stop sowing hatred and division to get there.

And if the exit polls show Trump winning, you can bet he’ll use that as a basis for contesting the election.

supposedly he has a 1 point lead among college educated whites and is killing it among non-college educated whites and somehow a lot more hispanics are voting for him than I can believe.

No, but graciousness costs nothing. Not saying you have to agree to compromise with them, just be nice.

I have had a local GOP school board candidate threaten to go to court to have me forced out of my teaching job. My governor has banned me from public restrooms. I have been called a predator, Satanic, sick, perverted and a few other things…for being a trans woman

Fuck that. Gracious went out the Goddamned window some time ago and it isn’t coming back anytime soon.

OT BUT IMPORTANT:

From another web site I’m on:

Well this explains a lot. I had ac problems earlier this year, and when the furnace exhaust was put back after i cleaned the Acoil, i accidently crunched the end of the pipe.

What got me wondering was everyone is on edge today, like panic attacks ( kids off school due to election) and todays the first day the furnace has been on more than a couple times a day. Were sucking carbon monoxide. Its windows open and going to home depot for new chimney stack sleeve.
I have to apologize for todays acts..

A) Glad to hear you found it out.
B) EVERYONE - if you don’t have CO detectors installed, get some. If you do, check them!

So, everyone here, check your carbon monoxide detectors today.

I think it does. Whether it is the majority or not, I have heard a lot of interviews with people who truly just seem to have nonspecific anxiety about the world at large.

Both sides can be the same or different depending on what is regarded as relevant.

Sure, both parties are more responsive to their rich and well connected members than to their rank and file constituents. So what. This has been true of every political party since the dawn of time.

One might just as well say that both sides are the same because they both have bipedal members.

More to the point, Hillary Clinton and the Democrats are civilized, while Trump and the Republicans are barbarians.

Trump ahead in NH right now.

I’m gonna be in freak out mode until this is called.

If Trump wins, my houses in Chicago go on the market tomorrow.

Again…if Trump loses Florida….he loses.

Right now, most of the votes have already been cast and counted due to early voting, and he is 300,000 behind.

Going to be real tough to make that number up.

Earlier I felt quite confident. Now that we’re on the cusp of getting some actual results I find myself getting a bit more stressed.
Deep, even breaths. Deep, even breaths. And some wine later…

Yep.

Our plan here is to be out at a bar when the CA polls close.

C’mon, guys, don’t piss on my pant leg and tell me it’s raining. (Which it is here.) If we’re getting buried in cow country in Indiana, then that’s trouble for the large number of similar counties in Ohio and Michigan.

Hey b, I have an idea: We swap elections. Ya’ll can have the election season that stretches on for months and takes no prisoners, and we can have the one that takes less time than an oil change.

What ya say?

As far as I know, early returns tend to skew Republican because votes get tallied faster in rural areas and rural areas tend to favor Republicans.

Slate has Clinton ahead in NH by a healthy margin.

re: #462 Brian J.

Indiana barely voted for Obama once. Worrying about the result there is a good way to get a bonus ulcer, but won’t do anything else for you. I doubt that Clinton invested much in the way of time or resources there.

If the answer is no, maybe a little less freaking out is called for.

It always makes you look bigger to be a gracious winner.

And I most likely will be. But it still steams me a little that people I considered long-time friends were telling me I was an idiot for not jumping on the Trump train.

I’ll be gracious. But these people will have to realize that I’ll never look at them the same way again.
