With so many ignorant, arrogant, racist, openly evil Trump supporters in the world, God has got a touch of the blues.

For even when Trump is gone, these unrepentant morons shall remain.

If you’ve got any tips on how to deal with all this stupid insanity, please advise.

In November 2014, the Australian Human Rights Commission delivered a report to the Government which found that Morrison failed in his responsibility to act in the best interests of children in detention during his time as Minister.

Sounds like a toned down version of Stephen Miller.

After the Australian Marriage Law Postal Survey, Morrison proposed an amendment to the Marriage Amendment (Definition and Religious Freedoms) Bill 2017 allowing parents to remove children from classes if “non-traditional” marriage is discussed.[52]

and

Morrison was raised in the Uniting Church, but later became a follower of Pentecostalism. He now attends the Shirelive Church, which is affiliated with the Australian Christian Churches and the Assemblies of God. He has said “the Bible is not a policy handbook, and I get very worried when people try to treat it like one”.[6] In late 2017, Morrison stated that he would become a stronger advocate for protections for religious freedom.

Yup, sounds like Australia is going down the path of Trump-lite.

Well, sad to see this happen, but I guess deep down, I always figured it was inevitable:

Residents of Clark County will have one fewer big box retailer to choose from when it comes to this year’s Black Friday shopping binge.

Sears Holdings Corp., which also owns K-Mart, announced this week that they’ll be shutting down another 46 stores that have been losing money. That includes the Sears stores at Vancouver Mall [ed - Vancouver, WA], as well as Happy Valley, Ore [ed - Clackamas Town Center]. and a K-Mart in Gresham. In all, 33 more Sears stores will be closed, and 13 K-Marts.

“We thank associates affected by these store closures for their many contributions to our company,” Sears Holdings Corp. said in a statement on their company website. “Eligible associates will receive severance and will have the opportunity to apply for open positions at area Kmart or Sears stores.”

The Sears at Vancouver Mall was my first job - I learned a helluva lot in the many years I worked there. Sad to see it go.

Oh, and a hearty ‘fuck you’ to Eddie Lampert for burning Sears to the ground.

Not as trump right as the man he defeated for the PM job - and there will be an election in less than a year - and he has a senate with an excessive number of weird parties represented - so not much time to cause too much trouble.

If only the labor party can get its act together this lot will be defeated in the election.

This would not be unusual in an Inter-league baseball game.

But it was a pre-season NFL game. People paid real money to watch that travesty.

And that’s my drive-by! Night all. Sweet scaly dreams.

Is tomorrow when Mueller goes after the kids? I have the sneaking suspicion he is going to ramp things up before the elections. Not for any political reasons, but just because his longevity as Special Counsel is looking more and more tenuous.

If J.D.B. Sessions is fired, his replacemant’s first job is to fire Mueller. Full stop.

Why the ever-loving FUCK are they going to kill it? Is it too accustomed to humans or something?

If a bear, large cat, or other large animal that can kill or injure humans gets to acclimated to humans/civilization (often by finding discarded or improperly-stored human food in the backcountry or being fed human food by well-meaning but clueless people), the first choice is to move them far away to somewhere else in their habitat range.

However, a lot of times, that doesn’t work. At Philmont Scout Ranch, where I’ve gone on extended backpacking treks four times since 1993, bears are given “three strikes”: first two strikes, they get captured and moved at increasing distances while being tagged and tracked. After the third strike, they become a rug; at that point, they’ve become a hazard to humans.

This is why, if you camp in backcountry areas where bears live, you keep a tight rein on your food and “smellables” (which includes a lot of thing you might not think as having scents, like batteries and film); always stow your smellables in bear bags at night.

Fischer: God Is Cursing Us With Bear Attacks For Failing To Follow The Bible

A wholly preventable tragedy occurred outside Yellowstone National Park last week as a bear that only hours before had been trapped and tranquilized by researchers woke up from his induced slumber just in time to maul a 70-year old man who was out for a stroll.

The man was, according to the AP, mauled at almost exactly the same site where the researchers had left the bear after he’d been tranquilized.

The grizzly is a predator, a fierce, savage unstoppable killing machine. Lewis and Clark did not believe the stories they’d been told by Indian peoples about grizzlies until they started running into them. It was not long before their “curiosity” was “quite satisfied” about the grizzly.

Because these researchers were intent on studying the grizzly rather than killing him to protect innocent human life, a husband, father and grandfather is dead today. This was an utterly unnecessary death which could have happened only because our culture has jettisoned a biblical view of the relative value of human life compared to animal life.

Because this animal was given a nap instead of a bullet, a human being is dead, and a savage animal is alive, on the prowl, and ready to kill again.

Bears that acclimate enough to humans and human activity tend to get aggressive, especially when looking for food, because they’ve lost their fear of us.

Conspiracy theorist Jen Moore spent the last months of her life chasing her bizarre ideas around the Washington, D.C., area, attending an event about the murder of Democratic National Committee staffer Seth Rich and filming Comet Ping Pong, the target of the Pizzagate fiction.

Now, after her death in a Maryland hotel room last week, Moore has become the star of a new conspiracy theory. Right-wing media personalities have seized on Moore’s death, claiming without any evidence that it’s the latest example of Bill and Hillary Clinton killing off their enemies.

A prediction: ALL of the pizzagate conspira-liars will eventually die. Buwhaahaahaa!

My dad’s buddy Gene Gunnels (aka/Bam Bam) was (is) a drummer for Strawberry Alarm Clock. The first time I met him, I flew into Vegas, and dad picked me up with gifts of mushrooms and many burning doobies. He took me straight away to a First Friday party that was in a strip mall east of the Stratosphere. There was a gay bar and a laundromat open and in the laundromat they were showing these disturbing claymation movies on film where I zoned out for a piece. Out in the back of the strip mall was a lot of partying and dancing. We were back there getting high when Bam Bam rolled up on us in his decked out golf cart with a big platform and stripper pole on the front of it. Way later that night, it must have been some performers from a Vegas show came to the parking lot and performed these island dances with big drums and shit at like 4 in the morning.

All before I even dropped my bags off at pops house. :D

The only thing that I have done wrong is to win an election that was expected to be won by Crooked Hillary Clinton and the Democrats. The problem is, they forgot to campaign in numerous states!

He is right about the “they forgot to campaign in numerous states” part…

They did not expect to win but knew that they had a viable chance if they carried all the states that Romney won in 2012 (no problem there) plus PA, OH MI and WI…and they did.

They did not even need Florida…

I have reached a stage where I cannot say “he is right” about anything. I can say he is ignorant and stupid and the media and the russians and James Comey got him elected.

Right wing bigots, around the world, never stop trying to stop those who want to govern for all the people from getting elected. Can only hope Australia throws the latest lot out at their next election.

Wanting him to be him, in all its disgusting glory, is what they wanted more than anything. And that encompasses a lot.

If people really want to move the needle and feel like they are persuading their fellow citizens towards the greater good they really should just get out and canvass. Otherwise it feels performative and codependent.

Canvassing is not for everyone, that’s for sure, but there are still better options.

He is right about a few isolated things. And he is still skilled when it comes to manipulating the media and appealing to his base and winning supporters outside his base.

But that does not at all qualify him for the job he was elected to do.

I am also very big on letting folks know that just because technology makes us accessible in an instant 24/7, doesn’t mean I have to be. And that’s true whether one has brain juices being temporarily (or permanently) spastic or not.

I haven’t run across this here but it seems Chuck Johnson (not the esteemed Charles Johnson of LGF!) was welcomed in to a private conservative group and promptly shit on the floor:

It took just 80 minutes after racially incendiary emails started flying for the Claremont Institute, a conservative think tank, to shut down an email Listserv connecting hundreds of high-profile conservatives.

The emails that sparked the controversy began ricocheting midday Tuesday, in response to a plea from Darren Beattie, a recently fired speechwriter for President Donald Trump, for “those on this list with media influence” to come to his defense. The White House over the weekend dismissed Beattie after CNN revealed that he had spoken at a conference alongside a racial provocateur.

Charles Johnson, an alt-right provocateur and Trump loyalist, was first to respond.

“Beattie’s offense is that he spoke at an event where — gasp! — there were white nationalists afoot!” Johnson wrote the group. “Heaven forbid that some thinkers — like the American founders who favored our country be majority white — think that the U.S. of A should stay majority white! Perish the thought. Can’t have that.”

A little more than an hour later, as senior administration officials and white-shoe lawyers asked to be removed from the list, the Claremont Institute had scuttled it entirely.

Maybe Chuck forgot to wipe?

Two, that your moronic Prez is laying waste to your country is understood but that he keeps sh*tt*ng on ours is unacceptable.

Greets and saluts from the NYC metro area.

Financial data time:

Yeah, the Trump trade war is having an effect. As I have said, companies would shift purchasing patterns to try and avoid the Trump tax (tariffs = taxes that Americans are paying on imports; taxes are slapped on by foreign countries on American imports in retaliation).

So Americans are paying for Trump’s trade war coming and going.

None of this enriches Americans. American businesses are the ones getting hurt.

Heck, even the tariffs on steel and aluminum are screwing American businesses because Trump doesn’t have a clue how the global supply chain works.

Slap tariffs on steel and aluminum imports and you might give a temporary boost to American steel and aluminum manufacturers, but they produce (and have capacity for) only a fraction of American manufacturing needs that everyone from durable goods manufacturers to car and motorcycle manufacturers are now paying 25% more for the raw materials critical to their production processes.

That 25% is getting passed on to the consumer. That means Trump’s tax is now a tax on your purchases. We’re paying more and Trump still thinks we’re winning.

Meanwhile, Trump’s still going on about conspiracies and how media is out to silence conservatives.

Here’s what we know.

Pecker killed any story that might be unfavorable to Trump. He buried it in this vault.

He also opened the floodgates on every lie, innuendo, and bogus claim about Clinton.

This is an in kind contribution to the Trump campaign since he benefited and profited from the effort Pecker did to spin his media empire to help Trump.

This was apparent all along, but we’re now seeing that the results from the Mueller investigation have finally gotten around to looking at all these incestuous relationships between Trump and his criminal cronies.

When the Enquirer spent all of its energy trying to claim Hillary was dying/sick/incapable of moving, when it was Trump who needs a golf cart to get around and that Clinton continued campaigning while having walking pneumonia, it had an ongoing tangible effect on the conversation and they were pushing on the scales against Clinton.

What mitigates all this is that even with the Access Hollywood tape, it didn’t stop Trump from winning - one can argue that the GOP rallied around Trump precisely because he’s their kind of bigot and misogynist and sex predator. That’s who they want. That’s who they want to be - they want to be an unrepentant bigot and misogynist who keeps women in their place (especially if that woman’s name is Clinton).

You don’t prevent a constitutional crisis by threatening a financial one,” [Neil] Cavuto said. “But, Mr. President, you guarantee both when your very actions and words create that crisis or make people think that you’re hiding one.”

The Fox News host then listed some of the president’s most “worrisome and tiresome” lies, calling out Trump for changing his story on controversies ranging from “hush money” payments to women who said they had affairs with him to his knowledge of a 2016 Trump Tower meeting with a Kremlin-linked lawyer in hopes of gathering damaging information on Hillary Clinton.

“You are right to say that some are out to get you,” Cavuto said to Trump. “But oftentimes, Mr. President, the problem is you: what you say, and how you keep changing what you say.”

Well, there is this

Some employees at Fox News were left embarrassed and humiliated by their network’s coverage of the latest revelations in special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian election meddling, according to conversations CNN had with several individuals placed throughout the network.
“I’m watching now and screaming,” one Fox News personality said in a text message to CNN as the person watched their network’s coverage. “I want to quit.”

“It is another blow to journalists at Fox who come in every day wanting to cover the news in a fair and objective way,” one senior Fox News employee told CNN of their outlet’s coverage, adding that there were “many eye rolls” in the newsroom over how the news was covered.

The person said, “Fox feels like an extension of the Trump White House.”

Time: I Was a Lawyer for Spiro Agnew. President Trump Should Consider Resigning

While things may appear grim, this is a great day for the Constitution. The Article I and Article II personnel have behaved disgracefully. But our Article III law-enforcement mechanism is doing its job.

This is half-time. We do not know what the Mueller investigation knows, what it has learned from Flynn, Popadopoulous, Gates, Van der Swan, Pinedo — who have all pleaded guilty. Nor do we know what, if anything, Michael Cohen has already told investigators. Or what White House counsel Don McGahn said in 30 hours of interviews with them. Or what Mueller’s team has learned from what we can sure is the scores, if not hundreds, of other witnesses they have interviewed. And, of course, there are the millions of tapes, computer files and documents seized in the Cohen raid, along with those handed over by Trump’s former lawyers.

Mueller can and likely will name Trump as an unindicted co-conspirator on any case he brings going forward, if he abides by Department of Justice guidelines and does not indict a sitting president. And Trump needs to worry about his criminal liability (and that of his son and son-in-law) when he leaves office.

Impeachment aside, given all that the President now faces, does anyone in his camp have the courage to discuss a so-far unmentionable strategy? Do what we did for Spiro Agnew, and the country. Negotiate a deal: You end the Mueller investigation, and I’ll send out of a tweet: “No collusion, I did nothing wrong, rigged witch hunt, but this is bad for the country, and I am a patriot. So I hereby resign. Sad.”

Balloon Juice has a story about Chucky J. blowing up a conservative conversation:

A little more than an hour later, as senior administration officials and white-shoe lawyers asked to be removed from the list, the Claremont Institute had scuttled it entirely.

look how far we’ve come

from electoral-vote.com in which the headline is totally deadpanned:
trump can no longer control pecker

As far as is currently known, Donald Trump had extramarital affairs with two women, namely Stormy Daniels (nee Stephanie Clifford) and Karen McDougal (nee Karen McDougal). During the campaign, he wanted to make sure both kept quiet about the affairs, but the route taken to silence each woman was different. Daniels simply got a contract that paid her $130,000 for her silence. According to Michael Cohen’s testimony on Tuesday, the contract was intended to help Trump win the election, which made the deal an illegal campaign contribution. McDougal’s silence was bought in a different way. The National Enquirer’s parent company, AMI, bought the rights to her story for $150,000 and then may have sold them to Trump or his company. If Trump’s company bought the rights and reimbursed AMI, that would mean his company made an illegal campaign contribution.

That’s a great dodge—the glutenin and gliadin aren’t alcohol-soluble, so it doesn’t count toward the moisture content as far as forming gluten goes, but helps with manipulating the dough.

I’ve heard the vodka trick for pie crust dough from Alton Brown before; since alcohol takes the place of some of the water in the dough, not as much gluten is formed, which is why it’s more flaky and less tough when baked.

Yup. Bingo. Look at the succession of people who have flipped and/or have been charged. The first to go down were small fish (papadopoulos, etc) and every person after that was a slightly bigger fish. The investigation has tentacles and keeps going in new directions as more crimes are uncovered. This is by far the best spent taxpayers’ money ever.

I think the next group to be looked into will be Stone, Page, Credico and Assange. They are the worker bees and did much of the dirty work possibly without much connection to Trump directly.

If Mueller ties them into Trump through Manafort or Cohen then Mueller can get them indicted. They are tougher, because they are part of the shadow organization that most likely don’t have a ton of ties to Trump directly. They will be tied most likely through Russian connections and Assange. But they fit, as their work was to help Big Don Trump.

Then he will move onto The Trump Crime Family® as the final take down having all the structure under them figured out as a RICO case. He won’t need to tie The Big Don directly as much as the figurehead of the family that benefited from all the crime.

Trump will scream as will his supporters: “There is no direct connections to Trump, maybe his kids and friends did all of this to help him and he never knew it! Whaaaaaaa!”

And if the Republican congress does keep him around until the 2020 elections, it will only continue to hurt them.

If they dump Trump now, the rabid base kills them.

If they keep Trump in office until the next election, the moderate normal Republicans will kill them.

Either way, they have screwed themselves.

Once Ivanka is implicated and in danger, will papa trump fall on the sword or allow her to flail on her own?

We know he wouldn’t act over either of the boys, but Ivanka (the DILF)…that’s hitting to close to his dick.

If Ivanka’s in danger, Kushner will position the sword and push papa trump onto it.

At some point the Russians will pull back I think. They got their experiment done and they know they are being tracked now.

I think our tech is way better than them, we just get lazy. Now that we are more aware of what they were doing it will be harder for them to continue, especially if the Democrats get one of the branches of congress this year.

The Russians had the perfect opportunity with both houses of congress being corrupt Republicans. I think that has much to do with them being able to get their boy through, they knew the Republicans were power hungry and could be counted on to act as protective cover.

Take the cover away and the Russians go about looking for new ways to fuck with us.

I disagree. There is a reason they didn’t want Hillary (or democrats in general) and once this is over, assuming we, America, comes out the other side, they have to know that the retribution is going to be far more severe than what Hillary alone would have done.

Russia as Hydra.

Some of these pro Russia Trumpists/GOPers will throw the rest under the bus and claim to be American patriots. They’ll continue to push the Russian agenda behind the scenes, and further Russia’s policies, not ours.

It sucks that one party has been thoroughly coopted and compromised, but the GOP continues to show absolutely no capacity for redemption here. They’re fucked from top to bottom, and everywhere in between.

Congressional GOPers are beholden to a base that emulates and elevates bigots and misogynists.

They wont take steps to stop Trump because it would piss off the base.

Expecting them to do something different than they’ve done to date is the definition of insanity.

They aren’t changing.

That means the change must come from outside - forcing them from power. Voting them out of office.

Just look at the Mueller indictment for the Russians: the more you are involved in the cyberdefense racket, the more amazing that document is. People and organizations that were just codewords before were given full names, and their activities were detailed like there was someone looking over their shoulder. It means that the West had their networks completely compromised, and I think it was designed to freak Russia the fuck out.

Allen Weisselberg’s turned on Trump.

Yeah, that’s big news.

Huge.

Yoooge even.

Why?

Because CFO handles the money. They know where the money is coming from and where it’s going. They sign off on tax returns and filings. They are supposed to know all manner of critical details about the business operations and cashflow.

This opens up all of Trump’s business to scrutiny in a way that the media never was able to do before.

Trump’s fucked - not only because of the SDNY federal investigations. It’s because everything has a state-level analog on federal tax criminality.

Trump’s business is centralized in NY and NYC. That means that the NY AG and NY Dept of Tax and Finance are going to be tearing apart all of the Trump tax filings based on what the SDNY has identified to date. We’re talking multiple felonies.

This isn’t penny ante stuff either.

they buried a trump organization expense in the trust

if i got it right:

Cohen, sends Weisselberg an invoice, for “Payment for services rendered for the month of January and February, 2017”

what we dont know is who the invoice was made out to - so im assuming, yes, for now, assuming it was the trump org. cause cohen probably wouldnt have invocied trump individually and (again assuming) invoicing the trust directly would be idiocy

the payment was really meant to reimburse Cohen for Stormy daniels

so if im right, weisselberg directs someone else to pay the bill out of the trust and call it ‘legal fees’

- a trump org invoice paid out of the trust
- this has nothing to do with the trust
- and bury it under legal fees when it’s anything but

there are rules regarding what a trust / nonprofit can spend its money on
- this clearly wasnt a charitable contribution by the trust to some deserving charity
- so they tried to hide a trump org bill as an expense of the trust

- what legal services did the trust receive that it was paying for?

calls into question the legitimacy of the trust/using as a personal piggy bank
calls into question the tax returns of the trust - perjury, fraud
and a host of other things we already know about - like whether it’s an in-kind campaign contribution (it is)

in general though, no one talks about a revocable trust as a trust. while the person’s alive they and the trust are one. there’s no separate federal id or entity

You are conflating trust with charitable foundation. This could be referring to Trumps personal revokable trust he set up in 2014. Which Don Jr and Weisslberg are trustees for. Not that it couldn’t be referring to the charitable trust, we really don’t know.

still, there are two things that are most important

- what do the cohen invoices say? who did he bill? - trump, the trump org, some other entity

- no matter who disbursed the cash, it’s still an unreported in-kind contribution to his campaign

If it came from his personal trust it would be less bad for Trump as a candidate is allowed to donate as much as he wants to his campaign. In that case it is a reporting violation only which I believe would be more of a fine-able offense than a felony. If it came from the foundation everyone is fucked. If it came from the trump org it would probably be an illegal contribution not sure who would be on the hook there.

Good essay over at Medium: (Jail) Birds of a Feather

Trump hasn’t — or hasn’t yet — experienced the severe fall from grace that various of his consiglieres are embarking on this week. But much of what worked at 725 5th Avenue in Manhattan isn’t playing as well at 1600 Pennsylvania in Washington, DC

Though being a world-famous real estate magnate and reality TV star produces popularity and ubiquitous name ID, it is was a world in which Mr. Trump was in total control. Everything, from his television contracts, his tax returns and payoffs to paramours could be safely and neatly managed from his Midtown office.

Now, though, the trouble is inside the president’s businesses, personal life and campaign. Given that there are so few people close to Mr. Trump, it’s only a matter of time before the myriad tendrils of scandal find their way inside the White House.

re: #389 danarchy

If it came from his personal trust it would be less bad for Trump as a candidate is allowed to donate as much as he wants to his campaign. In that case it is a reporting violation only which I believe would be more of a fine-able offense than a felony. If it came from the foundation everyone is fucked. If it came from the trump org it would probably be an illegal contribution not sure who would be on the hook there.

that’s my take too

i’d add that there are other people involved and the attempt to cover it up

TAX CUTS! This financial wizardry from Duncan Hunter:

“I don’t believe that tax cuts cost the government money,” he said.

They don’t — the govt makes up the money by taxing SOMEONE ELSE, so your tax cuts are costing me money, and my tax cuts are costing you money, and the midwest’s tax cuts cost California and New York money…

At the start of WWII, so many Americans sympathized with Hitler that FDR had to work hard to keep the US allied with England and France. pic.twitter.com

That was before major civil rights gains AND a lot of the immigration that supposedly threatens White dominance in the American citizenship today.

In other words Black were still “in their place” and people from the Middle East, South America and Asia were not as big a part of that citizenry as it is now.

So, it has never been about dominance of numbers as much as pure hate. That hate has been here all along. It got shoved down a bit in the late 60s but it has come roaring back now that the racists/bigots have someone like Trump “opening up the dialogue” for the White Nationalists (fascists) to come out in the open again.

Yes, I was only trying to point out the numbers. The US in the early 1900s was probably 80% White. So there was no threat to that dominance…but they still used the same hate to do things like form the KKK and do what you are talking about.

To me it has nothing to do and never did have anything to do with White Nationalism (Dominant race) as much as pure White hatred for others.

There could be 99.9% White Dominance and some asshole racists are still going to be bitching about the .1% others being a problem and they need to be hassled or move out.

It seems that way from today’s perspective… but the US in the early 1900’s didn’t consider Italians or Greeks or Jews or eastern Europeans “white”.

And no matter how much they whine now about the country becoming “minority white” in our lifetime, it won’t happen. Currently, there’s census categories called “non-Hispanic white”, “non-Hispanic black”, and Hispanic — but 30 years from now the majority will have decided that Spanish-speaking white people are just as white as English-speaking white people, Spanish-speaking black people are just as black as English-speaking black people, and mestizos will be their own check-the-box category.

You are correct. I didn’t want to get into specific European “tribes” to try to figure out where it all started. I was generalizing White as it seems to be used in the latest round of fascism.

A lot of “White” people today have no idea of the tribalism that existed in Europe and how it came to America where it has blended.

I wonder if they can even understand the hate from across a river and a couple hillsides away, like the Hatfield and McCoy feuds. Tribes.

It’s all the fucked up part of humans. Being schooled Catholic and hearing all those old religious concepts, I always figured “original sin” is you are fucked up because you are human. Humans can be hateful and dangerous. What are you gonna do about it is the correction from the sin.

My wish, when we get a Democratic congress that will do its job, is to start hauling a number of federal, state, and local officials in to explain why the hell they haven’t been doing their jobs for the past decades.

And before anyone gets started, “breaking up the banks” isn’t the answer. A lot of the real dirty banks are small boutique ones for international criminals. It’s not size, it’s transparency and the elimination of tax havens around the world.

Race is a social construct. Those who dominate society get to define the social constructions. There are many whites who fear losing that dominance, because then somebody else gets to define them. They fear this because they’ve been so mean about the way they’ve done it, they don’t see any way new dominators could be other than mean to them. They think meanness is an innate human attribute. It’s time to teach another way.

If they dump Trump now, the rabid base kills them.

If they keep Trump in office until the next election, the moderate normal Republicans will kill them.

Either way, they have screwed themselves.

They could’ve united to reject him after the pussygrabber video came out, and he would’ve lost. They’d have taken a hit, and they wouldn’t have gotten to pass a big tax cut for their donors, but they could’ve investigated Clinton and obstructed her agenda till the cows came home. Now they’re screwed, and if as a result the Democrats win big in 2020, they’ll reverse that big tax cut and use the money to pay for Medicare-for-all.

The human original sin is you are a human so you get a brain and choices…a conscience.

I was trying to take the religious idea and strip it down to a human concept. I didn’t even intend for the religion is the only way to save you thing to enter into it.

In fact that is why I no longer practice the religion I was taught. It all comes down to the individual and their choices and how you choose to follow or ignore your conscience. I’m not a religious type. Humans!

I’m not sure what is more embarrassing: Donnie as potus or Donnie getting punked by NK.

Guess we’ll just have to tear that bitch down again.

At this point, the statue will be destroyed, not brought down.

re: #447 William Lewis

I’d be seriously concerned that someone would use more extreme measures next time - a vehicle ramming, explosives, etc. - to prevent it from being put up a third time.

I suspect that when they try to put it back up, if they actually do, there is going to be a large contingent of student protestors there to block them.

Good and bad are social constructs.

I’ll stop there.

if you live alone on an island (or planet)

as soon as two or more people (yes, limiting it to people) live together, there are a few univeral harmonies that reveal themselves

past those couple of common constants, everything else good and bad are social constructs

Actually, they are human words for explaining the urgings of our intuition, or inner voice, or heart, or conscience. Depending on your choice of frame. Some folks don’t seem to have a sense of conscience. The President, for example.

As to the source of pre-verbal or sub-conscious intuition, well …

Turtles all the way down. :)

Your conscience was socially constructed. It could just as easily tell you to kill all the Jews to protect the fatherland and make you feel bad if you don’t.

The trump kiddie that told them to take the funds from the trust would be fuuuucccckkkeddd.

Especially when the remuneration occurred in January and February of 2017, after Drumpf was inaugurated.

Did I get that right?

There are things-in-themselves and there are judgements-about-things.

facts v what should we do about those facts

Human societies have had tens of thousands of years to codify those “shoulds” into “shalls” and “shall nots” and that those societies have hit upon similar rules and laws to smooth civil interaction is less a recognition that there are universal constants (good and bad) and more a recognition that there is but one constant and that is that we are all human.
