Caught a fairly new movie about the Polish RAF Squadron 303. (Some cliches, but very good over all.) The young pilot at the center of the action was very good, so much that I went looking for the newcomer Polish actor they used.

It was Ramsay Bolton.

As Jim Wright (Stonekettle) notes whenever someone asks “why don’t you unfollow Trump” or “why do you give him oxygen,” he replies as a former Naval intelligence officer it would cripple his mission to not listen to what adversaries are planning.

The same applies to Trump and other members of the Republican Party who support him. They need to be listened to, to understand what conservatism is and what it aims to do.

The claims of “Y is just a distraction from X” are untrue. Y is also an aim.

Personally believe that the fact that the bill won’t pass is the entire point. That no bipartisan deal that lacks Donny’s approval is going anywhere, and he won’t approve of anything less than the 21st century version of the Nuremberg Laws, so they’ve decided as a party to start ramming through bills in the Senate to make Dems vote on them. We’ll see that when Mitch takes the hand-off from Graham and pushes the bill to a floor vote, even if it means violating yet more decorum and rules in order to get a speedy vote.

The claim of A=432 cycles being invented by the Rothschilds (also known as Verdi tuning) has been around for ages.

The original claim (not involving Teh Jooos!) said simply that A=432 cycles was “natural” tuning and had been used on instruments for millenia (despite things like the tuning fork being invented in 1711). Musical instruments from ancient or mediæval times were simply tuned to each other.

From a typical conspiratorial site I keep on hand (but will not link here because this chowderhead deserves no clicks) about musical tuning:

The real music conspiracy story begins in 1910 when a man named John Calhoun Deagan [right], an alleged member of the US Naval Intelligence which was funded by the Rothschilds through their agents in the Rockefeller family, joined the American Federation of Musicians and convinced the group to endorse a standard of 440 Hz tuning for all orchestras and concert performing musicians. He was successful but this standard only applied to public performances in America.

Moving forward a decade, JD Rockefeller and JP Morgan created the Federal Reserve Bank as Illuminati agents and established the Rockefeller Foundation (1913). They began implementing their plans for what is now commonly known as the “New World Order”. Their first endeavor was the promotion (and funding) of the idea that society would be greatly improved with the elimination of the “inferior people” (i.e. those with feeble minds, alcoholics, criminals, those with genetic diseases) through imposed sterilization and euthanasia.

Thomas Edison and the US Navy are also involved in this “conspiracy” to force everyone into the Jewish Conspiracy (marca registrada) to tune A to 440 cycles.

My local CBS and NBC affiliates were showing their normal programming when I checked. I didn’t bother clicking over to ABC. People got to have their Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune in the Mountain Time Zone, after all.Zone

I suspect also that people are being imprecise in their language, referring to the cable news networks as “the networks,” leading to confusion with OTA broadcast networks for those of who have chosen to forego cable or satellite.

Having worked now for eight years in the defense industry, I can tell you that having multiple corporations doing the same job - IBM’s angle on having the contract reworked - results in shitty work, not better. One of the reasons we beat the Russians to the moon is we went with a single development process, where the Russians went with competition.

There are successful businesses running their data and cloud services completely in Amazon. It really is the best company for this job.

That may not necessarily work for them (running for local offices), depending on the state.

In my little red corner of the country, in the last election the Democrats ran the most candidates in decades for local and statewide offices. Over eight hundred candidates were women.

The Blue Wave reached down into my local area. Although I was turfed out of office and the Democratic challenger for the US House did not win, my school board flipped blue, a write-in Democratic candidate in the second-largest town in my county defeated the Republican mayor with 92% of the votes, the sheriff left the Republican party and became an independent, another Democrat overwhelmed both the wingnut Republican retired Navy Lt. Cdr. who ran and the Republican mayor in the county seat.

If that sort of thing can happen here, then just about anyplace except Wyoming seems in play.

I have not made a firm decision yet; it’s still early.

I do like the fact that Sen. Harris is a former prosecutor; we’re going to need that to get back on track with following the law.

If she’s not the presidential or vice-presidential candidate, I think she definitely should become Attorney General.

With the culling of the herd shown above, I can see a number of combinations of candidates for POTUS/VP that would be good. Those who don’t make the final cut should seriously be considered for various cabinet posts or advisory positions.

Imagine a Warren/Harris (or Harris/Warren) ticket, a double break in the Glass Ceiling if they won.

My sister and I discussed the candidates and her position is that Williamson is the only one that Trump would be willing to debate. Kamala would shred him into little pieces — there is no way Trump would share the stage with her. And the Berniacs have been attacking her for awhile. OTOH she probably will visit Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania — and Comey isn’t FBI director — so she does have that going for her.

My fear is that our Constitution will be the death of us — especially the Electoral College and the power of the Senate, where a majority can be based on states that represent less than 20% of the population and the 2/3 for overriding a veto can be based on states that have less than a third of the population.

In the 2020 Senate election for Nebraska, Ben Sasse now has a primary challenger, Representative Jeff Fortenberry (NE-1, Lincoln and surrounding area).

That means NE-1 is up for grabs.

Three Democrats have also declared to run for the Senate.

In NE-1, no Republican has declared to run for Fortenberry’s seat. State Senator Adam Morfield (D-Lincoln) has filed to run for the seat.

In NE-2, Republican Don Bacon has filed for reëlection. Four Democrats will square off for a primary challenge.

In NE-3, Adrian Smith has filed for reëlection. No Democrat has filed (there’s something I could do, bankrupt myself running to turf out my congressman).

I actually like the MBI idea and believe that it would be a big plus economically. That said, the idea of him running is almost as laughable as the rest of the bottom tier. No elected experience, no vote from me. Now if he could convince Warren to pick up his idea we can put him into Treasury to implement it for her administration.

We do have a diverse community here with delightful ethnic restaurants (community being a longer drive than places in Chicago). In Scottsbluff we have a couple Mexican restaurants run by immigrant families, a Cambodian restaurant, a Thai restaurant, and a couple of Chinese restaurants, along with a KFC (that’s ethnic isn’t it? /s)

There is also the Midwest Theatre, which puts on all sorts of shows and plays (along with art house movies). Goshen County, Wyoming also has a theatre company.

Here in my county there are a couple Mexican restaurants (again run by immigrants).

We also have a vibrant Native American community.

In my town, at the community centre/bar/grill, occasionally our Cuban-American or Native residents will go in to put on an ethnic food fest.

I would only allow those under 18 to collect if they 1) qualify for SSI or 2) are legally emancipated. In the case of 1, then regs need to be in place for a parent or guardian to have control over the income until age 18 - with provisions that it can only be used for the child’s needs (again, like SSI).

Once the person is over 18, waste it or save it however you wish. I’d help keep sword forges in biz ;D

Earned Income Credit partially works that way now, and people aren’t having children to boost their EIC.

Just reading about the Elixir sulfanilamide case. While 108 is precise, I wonder if it is complete.

Here is an FDA description of the investigators tracking down one death:

But when the inspector began asking questions around town, someone told him of the death of a lumber mill employee. The inspector recognized the symptoms as those characteristic of Elixir Sulfanilamide poisoning. Through the mill superintendent, he located the employee’s sister. Yes, she said, her brother had gone to the doctor and had been given some red medicine before he died. She told the inspector that, in accordance with custom, all medicines and sickroom utensils had been placed on the grave, about one and a half miles back in the fields. Accompanied by family and friends, the dead man’s sister and the inspector walked to the wooded knoll. On the single mound of fresh earth were several bottles, dishes, spoons, and a 4-ounce bottle containing about 1 ounce of Elixir of Sulfanilamide. It bore the weathered but legible prescription label of the doctor. In fact, the inspector learned, four of the doctor’s patients had died after taking the elixir.

The investigators apparently did track down all 240 gallons of Elixir sulfanilamide supposedly manufactured. And did due diligence on all missing amounts, though.

List of medicine contamination incidents

2007 Panamanian Eduardo Arias discovered that toothpaste sold in his country was labeled as containing diethylene glycol, the same ingredient that had tainted cough syrup and killed 138 Panamanians in 2006. Panamanian officials discovered that the toothpaste had come from China and initiated a global response. Also in May 2007, the same toothpaste was found in some Costa Rican stores. Fast action by the Ministry of Health, and notification through the media, prevented poisonings due to this product. This event was linked to the death sentence of a former pharmaceuticals control officer in China, as the Costa Rican newspaper La Nación reported on its issue of May 30. On June 4, 2007, a press release by the Chinese Foreign Ministry cited an earlier study in China which concluded that up to 15.6% diethylene glycol in toothpaste is safe. In June 2007, counterfeit Colgate toothpaste imported from China was found to be contaminated with DEG, and several people in the eastern US reported experiencing headaches and pain after using the product. The same occurred in Spain with a false Colgate toothpaste, which contained 6% DEG. The tainted products could be identified by the claim to be manufactured in South Africa by Colgate-Palmolive South Africa LTD; they were 5 oz/100 ml tubes (a size which Colgate does not sell in the United States) and their packaging contained numerous misspellings on the labels. Colgate-Palmolive claimed it does not import products from South Africa into the United States or Canada and that DEG is never and was never used in any of its products anywhere in the world. These counterfeit products were found in smaller mom and pop stores, dollar stores, and discount stores in at least four states. In July 2007, diethylene glycol was found in counterfeit Sensodyne toothpaste, on sale at a car boot sale in Derbyshire, England.

2008 Chinese heparin adulteration

2009, 84 Nigerian children were reported to have died after being given “My Pikin”, a teething syrup contaminated with diethylene glycol.

2012: As of 2 November 2012 in the New England Compounding Center meningitis outbreak, 753 cases of fungal infection occurred with 64 deaths due to contaminated injectable medication.

2012: 2012 Pakistan fake medicine crisis

Note that Diethylene glycol has figured in quite a few of these incidents. The stuff has a sweet taste and fly-by-night manufacturers apparently see it as a substitute for more expensive sweeteners. Unfortunately, it kills people stone dead.

No, people aren’t having children to boost their EIC, because in part the law of diminishing returns, but there are people fostering and adopting kids and gladly accepting the income. I do not, though, want to encourage quiverfull families to have ten kids to earn 10k per month because the flipside is that the cost per kid goes down as you get more.

My sister and I discussed the candidates and her position is that Williamson is the only one that Trump would be willing to debate. Kamala would shred him into little pieces — there is no way Trump would share the stage with her. And the Berniacs have been attacking her for awhile. OTOH she probably will visit Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania — and Comey isn’t FBI director — so she does have that going for her.

My fear is that our Constitution will be the death of us — especially the Electoral College and the power of the Senate, where a majority can be based on states that represent less than 20% of the population and the 2/3 for overriding a veto can be based on states that have less than a third of the population.

I doubt trump will debate any of them. The media gives him all the coverage he needs by showing his hate rallies, so no benefit to a debate.

With UBI, there’d be no need for food stamps, section 8 housing, minimum wage.

$100M a year would be enough for 4000 families, which is enough people to revive half a dozen empty small towns in the midwest. And those towns would then each need a new grocery store, a coffee shop, some elementary school teachers, a gardening supply store, a craft supply store, an auto mechanic…

Looks like it’s official - the US is walking away from the 1987 INF Treaty.

The United States formally withdrew from the landmark Intermediate-range Nuclear Force pact with Russia on Friday after determining that the Kremlin had violated the treaty and had no plans to come back into compliance with it. US officials also announced plans to test a new missile that would have been banned under the terms of the INF in the coming weeks.

“Russia is solely responsible for the treaty’s demise,” US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in a statement released early Friday. “The United States will not remain party to a treaty that is deliberately violated by Russia,” he added.

Looks like things are slowing down economically here in Czech Republic:

Conditions in domestic industry markedly deteriorated again, according to the July Purchasing Managers Index (PMI), which fell from 45.9 in June to 43.1 in July, the weakest level in 10 years

The manufacturing PMI, together with industrial confidence indicators clearly indicate that the situation in domestic industry remains very fragile this year. That said, the latest hard data from industry surprised rather positively both in May and April, growing above 3% year-on-year. Still, a slowdown in the second half of the year is probably inevitable based on the early-warning indicators, and July’s industrial production is likely to fall in YoY terms, according to our estimates.

Of course, the sour mood in July was not just seen in Czech industry but also in many neighbouring countries as well. Germany’s PMI fell further to 43.2 points in July, reaching its lowest level in seven years. Survey participants attributed current problems to a slowdown in the automotive sector and trade wars. In Poland, the manufacturing PMI reached 47.4 points in July, the lowest since April 2013, while Hungary’s PMI hit a three-year low, although it remained slightly above the key 50 threshold. The July PMIs from China also remained in contraction territory, although they showed a slight improvement from the previous month. As such, leading PMIs continue to confirm that the industrial situation remains fragile this year and the outlook for industrial production remains highly uncertain, not only for the Czech economy, but globally.

Broken record here: No party has figured out how to replace the good jobs lost to off-shoring and technology. Andrew Yang may be getting a boost because he is serious about this issue — but he hasn’t found a real solution either. Trump gave his audience a false hope and the MSM failed to do its job to inform the audience that he had never been anything more than a con man.

Kentucky political reporter Philip Bailey, who writes for the Louisville Courier Journal reports that as of Thursday night, the Kentucky Democrats have raised more than $120,00 off of #MoscowMitch T-shirts and other merchandise—in just one day. It’s not national sales driving that either; people from more than 64 Kentucky counties bought the shirts. In contrast, McConnell made about $70,000 off of his joke #CocaineMitch shirts in a two-week period. On MSNBC’s The 11th Hour, Bailey told Brian Williams that he’s talked to McConnell aides and confidants and they “all say this has gotten to him” and that the “issue and the tag line of Moscow Mitch has gotten to Sen. McConnell in a way that previous criticisms have not.”

Moments later, Cooper confronted her on her past suggestion that antidepressants were the cause of Robin Williams’ death by suicide, pointing out that the article she cited at the time was written by an organization funded by the Church of Scientology, which doesn’t believe in psychiatry.

At one point, after Williamson said she believed a “spiritual person” is just as qualified to talk about issues of depression as a medical expert, Cooper straight-up asked her: “The Church of Scientology—would you want them to be head of CDC if you were president?”

Democrats tend to forget that the moderate candidate last year beat the brakes off her primary challenger last year and won the popular vote by 3 million votes. State specific - the claims are filed in Kentucky’s Kenton County Circuit Court. They’re hoping they have better chance in the state court. Too bad, I think those defendants could move for the case to be heard in federal court due on diversity grounds.

Kentucky doesn’t have an anti-SLAPP suit and I’m not sure how that would have helped in this case.

So the former ICE administrator is coming to northern ny to attend a conservative fundraiser and talk about immigrants and border issues. We are by Canada, with the akwasasne mohawk reservation owning part of the border and having sovereignty over it. This could be interesting.
On top of that the North country public radio, or ncpr, has an article up about my representive Elise Stefanik (r-doesnt care) and her basically standing up for trump and how she defended the conspiracy theory about the investigation into trump/Russia.

My county and the area I live in is a copy of the deep South.

The only thing I can think of for the shorter term is a targeted Congressional pressure campaign against them. Harass them as much as legally possible and start review hearings about possible perjury in their confirmation hearings. Most of them are not exactly political street fighters, and look like they can dish it out a lot easier than they can take it. Get them to keep their heads down, and maybe make a few quit.

Most of the people here, and a significant number of Kossacks, would send money to your campaign.

If you serve only one term, the pay is enough for you to put aside some savings; if you serve 3 terms, you qualify for a significant pension.

That’s very kind, but the filing fee itself in Nebraska is 1% of the annual salary of any political position sought. At $174,000 a year, that means just the filing fee for me would be $1,740. That cannot be financed by donations in this state; you must show it is your money (check, personal credit card, pay in cash and get a receipt).

Unseating Adrian Smith is going to take a better politician (and a far richer one) than me. The Democrat who ran against him last time (Paul Theobald) is a multi-millionaire rancher. He sunk metric fuquetonnes of his own money into his campaign, and donations simply did not come in. The national folks at the DCCC did not offer support (citing the reason usually given around LGF for campaigns, that they have to focus money on campaigns they think they can win).
