Ghost-Note Live: It Starts With “Some Skunk Funk” and Just Keeps Getting Wilder

Music • Views: 24,056

YouTube

Because really, at the end of the day, the only issue he had with Trump…was that he wasn’t beating up on the “right” people.

So can Lin-Manuel Miranda sue him?
Or would his lawyer just have to take his place at the end of a very long queue?

Two things were really confirmed today: Everything said about Trump during impeachment was true and more.

And that John Bolton may have kept the jackass in office for no other reason than because he didn’t want to return the advance he got from Simon & Schuster.

Remember, judges *hate* prior restraint, just *hate* it.

Justice Department seeks emergency order to block publication of Bolton’s book

The Justice Department on Wednesday night sought an emergency order from a judge blocking the publication of former national security adviser John Bolton’s forthcoming White House memoir, escalating a legal battle against the former Trump aide even after many of his book’s most explosive details had spilled out into public view.

The move came after the administration filed a civil suit against Bolton on Tuesday, targeting the proceeds of the book and asking a court to order him to delay its scheduled June 23 release. Less than 24 hours later, the Wall Street Journal published an excerpt of the memoir and lengthy accounts were published by other news organizations.

Wednesday’s move sought to formally enjoin Bolton from allowing his book to be published, a legal strategy experts said was unlikely to succeed, particularly given that the book has already been printed and shipped to warehouses and copies distributed to the media for review.

(emphasis added)

washingtonpost.com

Didn’t someone say they knew someone with a bookstore that had a case of books in their back room, just waiting for publication day? Now multiply that by however many bookstores there are in the country. As loathsome as Bolton is, prior restraint is profoundly dangerous.

Plus, why the hell is the DoJ being Trump’s attorney???

One of the scarier realizations I’ve had as an adult is that most terrible people get away with things not because they’re discrete, but because the vast majority of people want to avoid feeling uncomfortable. Not-seeing and not-hearing things that should demand scrutiny and disrupting normal social interaction is a practiced skill. And when money’s on the line, it’s an absolute necessity that you just go along.

Happened with Jimmy Saville, happened with Epstein, happened with multiple serial killers.

Screw John Bolton and the book copies are already out there in the hands of journalists and in distribution warehouses across the globe. That genie ain’t going back in the bottle.

Their whole house is spiraling down the drain, the bad news is that there is a pandemic and broken economy that they aren’t even pretending to try and fix.

I’d argue it’s because nobody wants to be “that guy.” If you’re reporting some no-name that people care little about, then you’re a honest citizen and a hero for having them brought to justice. They devote chapters in books for years to come about how great and awesome a person you were to bring this monster to justice.

But when you report on a celebrity, especially one who is still much-loved, then all you become is “that guy.” Nobody wants to hear that their hero is really a monster, really wants to deal with the possibility that the person they idolized was really a facade. It robs them of all the good feelings they got, replaced with hate and disgust that makes them question if the other celebs they love are really demons in disguise. So they attack you, they question your motives, they look for any reason to dismiss you in the hopes of avoiding the truth.

The only time we’re ever ready to deal with the truth about celebrities…is when they’re dead and buried. And even then, the only way we deal with it is to effectively erase them from being, so we never have to deal with those negative feelings.

More than that. Trump engaged in felony conduct repeatedly. He engaged in high crimes repeatedly, and the GOP not only let him off, but they enabled him to continually double down on criminal conduct in plain sight.

The GOP are as much to blame for Trump felony conduct as Trump himself. They abdicated their oversight of the Executive Branch. They put their party over nation.

The long term most important thing to keep in mind is that Trump has been a known quantity for a long time now. And still a losing but large percentage of Americans voted for him anyway, as well as the entire Vast Right Wing Conspiracy Corp. that supported his rise to power.

Holding all of these people to account will be the first step in correcting our country’s failures and establishing a less insane national direction.
