Two weeks ago, Missouri Sen. Roy Blunt went on CNN and said the presidential election wasn’t “rigged” and called Democrat Joe Biden’s administration “likely.”
But when host Dana Bash pressed him to call the Democrat the “president-elect,” he said only the Electoral College could do that.
He stuck to that line Monday.

I just checked Wikipedia, it says Trump’s oath of office was administered at 12:00 sharp back in 2017. I wonder if it’s just a question of timing and temperature; somebody mentioned snow, it must be a decently cold day in Washington.
My big tough biker tattooed husband is sitting on the couch crying his eyeballs out. That’s when I know some shit is serious.
My god, just having someone coherent talking to the American people is just…awesome. Someone with compassion, empathy and love in his heart. Who understands loss and love and had a good heart. That stuff matters SO much and my hope is that we take that lesson above the crap Trump has left behind. Experience, dedication to public service and just being a decent human. It has to matter more as part of who we elect to office.

Typically, there’s two oaths administered. One privately, and one in public. Both typically occur prior to 12:00PM when the official power transitions to the next president.
We are within moments of 12:00PM ET.

It’s definitely not the first time. Garth Brooks may sing country music and have a general masculine “Republican fuck yeah” attitude, but he’s probably one of the least assholish wingnutty Republicans I could name.
I think you might be confusing Garth with the likes of Toby Keith, because I’ve never gotten that from Garth, in his music or otherwise.
We made it through the longest 10 years of my life, the Trump presidency!

Didn’t know that. Cool.
Self-described as someone “who might be the only Republican” at Wednesday’s celebration (Brooks didn’t publicly endorse a candidate in 2020)…
Brooks doubled down on unity when asked what he would say to conservative country music listeners unwilling to accept election results. Invited to perform by Dr. Jill Biden, Brooks said he’s focused on “that bridge that brings us together” ahead of his appearance…
He won’t perform “We Shall Be Free” on Wednesday, only because it’s been done before — when Brooks sang for former President Barack Obama at his 2009 inauguration.

The storm isn’t coming. Biden will be president. JFK jr is dead. Trump lost.
Your dear leader lied to you over and over again. QAnon is a cult. It wasn’t BLM or Antifa. It wasn’t the Democrats or George Soros. It is all on the Q cult and the algorithms of hate that proliferated it.
You thought you were saving children? Look around, how many children have you saved? None. You are more likely to have lost your own children than to have saved any. You thought the MSM was lying to you so instead you decided to trust an anonymous unreliable shitposter on a dark corner of the internet? And I’m the sheep?
How long will you ‘trust the plan’? You have squandered unimaginable time and energy on utter nonsense. You’ve dragged how many more people into this delusion? You have tore our family apart - for what? What a fucking shame.
Q isn’t real. You’re wasting your life. Will you stop now? Or just let the story morph into a new more fantastical version like it has the 8,000 other times it’s disappointed you? Will anything ever make you see how lost you are?
Disinformation isn’t necessary. Patriots are not in control. Patriots are indoctrinated. Wake the fuck up. It’s over.
When and if the real you underneath the Q-you peaks up for air, I’ll be here. But I won’t waste another second of my life on the toxic alternate reality of Q. I wish you wouldn’t waste another second of yours. It doesn’t have to be like this.

President Biden’s EO-palooza is underway.
Given Trump’s failure to actually pass legislation on these changes, he had to go with EOs to push his agenda (and that’s even with control of the House and Senate in 2017-2018). Trump never bothered pushing a legislative agenda, never had a clue how policy works, and thought he could say something that that it just got implemented.
That makes it a lot easier to reverse many of his decisions. Some are able to be reversed with a simple EO as President Biden is doing right now. Some will take a vote by Congress - where regulations have been promulgated by various agencies/departments since August, and others will require Congress to enact new law.
It’s going to be a very busy 100 days, and there’s much to be done on so many fronts.
I’m hoping that President Biden gets to at least enjoy part of today as we move forward to empower people with a new VRA, HAVA, and other protections for persons of color, women, and LGBTQ communities, as well as help for those suffering during the pandemic.

Ketchup, mayo, bacon, and cheese is my go-to. If I’m getting a burger for takeout from a fancy-pants place, I will try to find something more distinctive; either their signature burger, or a bleu cheese burger, or similar.
This wins the internet today. https://t.co/avBh2D4bk8

Same on the fancy place burgers. Mostly, I’m not a fan of salads on my burger. And don’t get me started on 1000 Island Dressing (yes, I am a southern California apostate in that I do not like In n Out)
re: #383 KGxvi
James May’s Oh Cook is pretty good. A cooking show by a guy who can’t cook. He’s also got a couple of other shows on Amazon, but I’m not sure if they’re newish things or carryovers from their BBC days.
I love May’s The Reassembler and Things You Need to Know (both BBC shows he did while still on Top Gear).
McCarthy has a nerve talking about unity!

1000% agreed. There’s a place here in town that puts avocado on everything. EVERY. FUCKING. THING. And I hate avocado. I love their food, but get that disgusting thing off my cheeseburgers. And stay out!

Oz and James Drink to Britain was also great. Especially when they got to Ireland and had to figure out how not to constantly say Guinness due to BBC rules.
Joe Biden won’t say it, but I will. Fuck you, Kevin McCarthy, you treasonous son of a bitch.

“Unity” in Repub terms translates as “Mass amnesia.”
OK, one last time and I’ll quit (bullshitting all of you ‘cause this will never get old)

There’s a pub by me that does a California burger… sourdough bread, avocado, spicy aioli, ranch, and green chilis. I usually skip the chilis, but the avocado makes it for me.

Not saved. Just took a small step away from the precipice that it always walks along the edge of.

This is a byproduct of Limbaugh. I remember listening to him back in the day and he’d go on and on about how for “liberals” and “democrats” “compromise” meant “we get everything we want and you go along with it” and then he’d bitch about how when Republicans had the majority, they should do “the same thing”.
This time last year we were angry at Senate Republicans for being spineless assholes and expressing increasing worry about the new Coronavirus, which had just been confirmed as having arrived in the U.S.
What a crazy fucking year it’s been.

Sigh…why March 4 specifically?
Inauguration date in the original Constitution as written. Changed to Jan 20th in 1937 when the 20th Amendment was passed.
Before leaving office, former President Trump signed extended US Secret Service protection by six months for all his children. https://t.co/dIZgdi9zEH pic.twitter.com/c1OBSl4nfx

To the remaining QAssholes who NOW say JFK Jr. will surface on March 4th…and the “Storm” will now commence on that date with the mass arrests and Trump reassuming the Presidency…

JFK, Jr was a liberal Democrat. I don’t get their fascination with him.

IOW, Trump just guaranteed at least 6 more months of income from “rentals” and “fees” charged to the Secret Service.

Well, they’re going to need a couple of wings to cover the first impeachment, and then the second.
One thing to note about the presidential libraries is that modern historians take their jobs seriously and don’t whitewash the issues the various administrations have. They’re going to have a hell of a time finding anything positive with Trump.
“Biden Is Now President. Here’s Why That’s Bad For Democrats”
Headline on Politico, probably in about 20 minutes.
Man, what a day. I am trying not to get too happy here, but maybe here in a week or so, shit might be, finally, kinda normal?
I have no illusions about the fucking GOP and their asshole, dipshit members, in and out of government, to make as many shitty, evil decisions and push for awful things. Daily. But now it seems like good has a shot at winning, at least more often.
That’s broken window on the door of the Capital has meaning to a degree. Maybe we need to leave it alone for awhile as a stark reminder.
Anyone Else notice it?

So, where will it be built? Orlando? Or the Vegas strip?

re: #428 lizardofid
Vegas never let him get a casino license, so no.
Orlando is a better option, though he has zero relationship with the city. The only places he’s really connected with are NYC and West Palm Beach. Everywhere else are just business deals where he slapped names on buildings.
NYC wont give him the time or money to build, and West Palm Beach is likely to have the same reaction.
Virtual presidential library would be a first - and totally appropriate.

Maybe we should commission a stained glass scene, depicting Officer Eugene Goodman holding off the crowd of insurrectionists, shown shouting “hang Mike Pence”!

Yes, extra bacon, double cheese. With a milkshake on the side. Also: I prefer the cajun fries, but that’s a matter of personal preference.
mustard, ketchup, onions, tomato and lettuce. Pickle on the side.
