RNA viruses mutate faster than DNA viruses.
Coronavirus is a single strand RNA virus, influenza is also an RNA virus but it has 8 different chromosome like structures (for lack of a better term) that can undergo recombination. This is why coronaviruses mutate slower than influenza but still faster than DNA ones.
Varicella-zoster Virus or Human Alphaherpesvirus-3 (chickenpox) is a double stranded DNA virus. This makes it very stable.
Measels and Rubella on the other hand, as far as I know are also single stranded RNA viruses. I don’t know why they are particularly stable. Something else is involved here I haven’t stumbled on.

How is #43 is relevant? My only assertion is that they are the ones blocking the BBB legislation; if they had signed on, both infrastructure bills would have passed and the Democrats could tout their accomplishments in the fact of GOP obstructionism. Instead, the progressives haven’t allowed the bipartisan bill to pass before the VA election and Manchin and especially Sinema haven’t been cooperative enough to get the bigger bill passed. If the VA election wasn’t in jeopardy, I would be ok with the delays on the legislation; but it is.

This is a big thing.
The backstory is that two former USSR Republics, Armenia and Azerbaijan border each other. In order to keep them weak and pliant, the USSR government did what they could to ensure that they hated each other. An Armenian majority enclave (Nagorno-Karabakh) was attached to Azerbaijan.
When the Soviet Union dissolved, Nagorno-Karabakh seceded and defeated the woefully unprepared Azerbaijani miltary in the 6 year long First Nagorno-Karabakh War.
Last year there was a rematch.
The Azerbaijani military, supported heavily by Turkey and a number of other actors including foreign mercenaries and Russia, defeated the Armenians in the course of a month and a half. In particular they used a very effective high-tech strategy using drones in many different roles.

The effectiveness of the drones surprised a lot of observers, including in here in the US. The Ukranian move is one result.

It’s rewarding to see the wildlife after letting the field grow up. We have a couple of nesting hawks and owls that have a lot to feed on, and the coyotes come every night.
In Northwestern Fairfax County there is at least one nesting pair of Bald Eagles as well as lots of hawks and owls. None of these were around 40 years ago when I moved here.
There are also lots of coyotes in the county. Although, it is rumored that County Animal Control is trying to keep the coyote population down in favor of the native red fox.
One of my neighbors was trying to raise chickens last year. Their flock suddenly disappeared. I asked and they admitted that the flock had apparently been completely eaten by owls over the course of a couple of weeks.
Fortunately there have been no local shootouts regarding overgrown lawns.

I am sorry to hear that. There are a number of local areas very big into the ‘horse riding culture’. In Virginia, Faquier County and its ‘Gold Cup’ races is one. Upper (Western) Montgomery County is another.
The daughter of my next door neighbor worked for a stable for several years and wants to be a large animal veterinarian now.

RNA viruses mutate faster than DNA viruses.
Coronavirus is a single strand RNA virus, influenza is also an RNA virus but it has 8 different chromosome like structures (for lack of a better term) that can undergo recombination. This is why coronaviruses mutate slower than influenza but still faster than DNA ones.
Varicella-zoster Virus or Human Alphaherpesvirus-3 (chickenpox) is a double stranded DNA virus. This makes it very stable.
Measels and Rubella on the other hand, as far as I know are also single stranded RNA viruses. I don’t know why they are particularly stable. Something else is involved here I haven’t stumbled on.
Measles and rubella are nearly extinct so they have a vanishingly small platform in which to mutate, would be my guess.

I’ve been making malted pancakes with the King Arthur recipe. I went to the cupboard for the malt powder and it was hard as a rock. It would not come out of the jar so I put it in the microwave thinking that might help. The foil remnant around the rim from the original seal flared up like gunpowder lit from a match. I finally got the rock malt out and put it into my little blender and got it beat back into powder form.

It’s a shift of burden wholly on the Dems to get anything done, and allows the bullshit rhetoric of ‘see, if Dems wanted this, they could do it just like that, and the fact that they can’t means they really don’t want it, it’s all THEIR fault!’. It’s relieving the GOP of agency in a way that only helps them and relieves them of any burden of governance, where if the flipside was happening, the only story would be Dem intransigence.

They eventually remodeled the women’s room, tripled the number of stalls, and suddenly the long, slow lines were a thing of the past.
