DeSadist will announce and there will be a sudden “tightening” in the GQP polls. The media will get the horse race it craves. And they will also do all they can to pump up RFK Jr in an effort to “weaken” Biden.

Interested in how Carlson’s twitter vehicle is going to monetize this.

Musk was talking about a Twitter payment system, so Carlson can sell food buckets and survival seeds with very few limits on his grifting.

I had American chop suey for the first time last week. It was delicious. But it’s basically macaroni and sloppy joe sauce mixed together. In the midwest I think think we just called it beef macaroni or something, but it wasn’t something my family had.

It’s all that matters. I know we* castigated Dems for railroading Al Franken, but ethics do matter to Democrats.

*When I say “we” I really mean “me”; it’s a tough needle to thread sometimes, but I thought at the time that it needn’t be threaded. The photos were distasteful, but when the real story came out, it was clear that many of the Dems hugely overreacted and unfortunately, it was part of the cancel everything movement at the time.

I think the difference between Santos and Trump is easily seen. With Trump, the number and weight of crimes far exceeded that of Santos. Trumps crimes were numerous and new crimes required investigation during evaluation of older crimes. Trump leaves a wake of crimes like a motor boat with whatever he does, I’m thinking.

With the diplomatic car of Russian general consul Andrei Chemerilo in front, the 9th May parade moved through the small Arctic town that is inhabited mainly by Russian and Ukrainian citizens.

In the air was a Mi8 helicopter and behind Chemerilo’s black Toyota Landcruiser followed a line of more than 50 vehicles, including trucks, tractors and snow mobiles.

At least ten of the snow mobiles were driven by men in green suits, resembling military uniforms.

*snip*

Many of the parading vehicles belong to Arktikugol, the Russian state mining company that runs most of the local economy. Photos from parade are shared by Arktikugol and its leader Ildar Neverov, as well as by the Russian federal Ministry of the Far East and Arctic. Also several local participants in the parade have shared footage from the parade.

True.

But, I think that the Svalbard are a set of islands almost 1000 km North of the northernmost Norwegian Mainland and maybe the same distance from Greenland.

re: #265 Belafon

Someone posted earlier that the reason Republicans are passing so many of these shit bills is that they know they have lost the younger voters who are about to make up a majority, and they know they’re going to lost their rigged majority. Wrecking the economy so that the people who want to take care of their fellow citizens can’t is another piece of this.

What is amazng is that about 30% of Gen Z identify as Democrats close to what every other generation is. But only 17% identify as Republicans. 52% identify as independent and are really not happy with either party. The party that reaches them will win for decades. Is either party trying?

Not the GOP. It is not social issues that will get these independents.Student debt relief. Better housing choices. They want 2 years of free community college. They want to have a satisfying work experience, especially WFH. They relish a diverse workforce. They want global warming dealt with. They believe digital access is a human right. And they want ethical leaders.

The Dems can easily capture these Americans. I trust Dark Branden and expect in a year he will have proposals for all these things. With 44% of the voting age population in these two generations, the Dems can be set for a long time if they move this 52% that is undecided.

So far I only know of one pizzeria chain in Colorado serving the Colorado Mountain Pie, but it’s been wooing locals since 1973 with pizzas listed by weight (one, two, three, or five lbs.), topped with mountains of ingredients and featuring a hand-rolled crust handle that is traditionally dipped in honey for dessert.

Hah! I was thinking that lutefisk might be more Northern Tier MidWest than Massachusetts. But I admit to having never thought to look for it in Massachusetts.

I have never heard of lutefisk served in Massachusetts. It isn’t a real book. The sandwich pictured is a chop suey sandwich that was created in my city. It is well-liked by many, and all of us were upset when the inventor and owner of the restaurant retired and sold last year.

I much preferred that restaurant’s dinner combos, but I’ve learned to never disrespect regional foods even though f I don’t like them.

The new owner promises to continue making the iconic chop suey sandwiches.

Thanks!

Apparently Philly Florida Style is deep fried pizza pockets.

From a cached article -

Perhaps more of a zeppelin than a pillow, this is one style of pizza you won’t find in Florida and not that many other places in Greater Philly. The Inside Out is custom-blended sauce and hand-grated cheese wrapped in a specifically (and secretly) concocted pizza dough that’s deep fried until the insides are super gooey and the outside is crisp, golden and delicately blistered. It’s Florida Style’s competitive take on the similar, predecessor panzarotti, a signature offering of the long-shuttered Mr. Panz shop that opened up across the street in the mid-1970s threatening Florida Style’s business.

Apparently it went out of business while experimenting with this-

He’s currently experimenting with dessert Inside Outs filled with Nutella and Marshmallow Fluff and has plans for a new mac and cheese Inside Out, available with or without bacon.

The Inside Out pizza has nothing to do with Florida and everything to do with South Philly

To know and not to know, to be conscious of complete truthfulness while telling carefully constructed lies, to hold simultaneously two opinions which cancelled out, knowing them to be contradictory and believing in both of them, to use logic against logic, to repudiate morality while laying claim to it, to believe that democracy was impossible and that the Party was the guardian of democracy, to forget whatever it was necessary to forget, then to draw it back into memory again at the moment when it was needed, and then promptly to forget it again, and above all, to apply the same process to the process itself - that was the ultimate subtlety: consciously to induce unconsciousness, and then, once again, to become unconscious of the act of hypnosis you had just performed. Even to understand the word ‘doublethink’ involved the use of doublethink (George Orwell, Nineteen Eighty-Four, p. 32)

It’s stuff like this that make me roll my eyes when they talk about how the public is mean to them and they just don’t understand how tough it is being a cop.

Well, don’t fucking randomly beat up people for no reason.

I’m guessing this story took place in the 70s? Feels like this is something that would have happened under Rizzo’s time as mayor.

From the previous thread.

It wasn’t violent, but my welcome to Pittsfield, Massachusetts where I was stationed for recruiting duty was the day after I moved into my rental house. My wife and I had just arrived the evening before from my previous command at NAS Oceana in Virginia Beach.

I went out to the car in the morning to be greeted by having an out-of-state license plate ticket. The law says you have thirty days to change your license plates, and military people are generally exempt from such laws. I had to spend the better part of a day in court to get the ticket thrown out.
