Steve Bannon is going to prison and it’s going to be really hard for him, because I don’t think they’re allowed to wear two or three jumpsuits at the same time.

Do venues allow cellphones but not cameras? I assumed they gave up on the whole thing when cellphones caught on.

Now, that’s an upset. Cricket is serious in Pakistan…. Their previous prime minister, Imran Khan, basically forced out after he lost the confidence of the army and the security services, had been the captain of their cricket team in the 1980’s leading them to at least one international championship.

Most of them gave up on phones but refuse ILC (interchangeable lens cameras) only allowing the pros who’ve paid them $$$$$$ to be there to shoot the shows to have them. Tripods are even bigger evidence of evil to promoters, but you’d be surprised what a gimp stick (aka my cane for when my knee is acting up) can do in a pinch 🤣 So, yeah, to me that’s like my bud in high school who had an M65 field jacket that had four microphones and two sony walkmen set to record (one designed to be found easier than the other 😈) concerts he went to. He always got tickets right in front of the sound board and his bootlegs were insanely great.

That’s really cool! Being a footie fan, I can’t even imagine how hard it’s gotta be to be a cricket fan in the USA. I mean Basebrawl, er, baseball, is deadly dull enough but add the rules of cricket on top of it? (only slightly joking if you’ve never looked them up? Yikes! That game is weird.)

Now if we ever get to the point where the Ashes are a three way contest while I live, I’ll really be impressed.

PA State Rep Scared Free Tampons At Schools Will Turn Kids Communist

By a vote of 117 to 85 this week, the Pennsylvania House voted in favor of a bill to establish a grant program to help schools buy pads and tampons for students who cannot otherwise afford them. Isn’t that nice?

Well, we certainly think so, but Rep. Stephanie Borowicz (R-Clinton) has other ideas. In response to the bill passing, Rep. Borowicz openly and publicly fretted that the program was just the first step in the march to communism.

“Just another step by the governor and Democrats to have government provide everything for you, which leads to communism. A government big enough to give you everything you want is a government big enough to take everything away,” Borowicz said, overlooking the somewhat crucial fact that students rarely pay for these things (or anything else) out of their own pockets.

Yes, it sure is bad when the government provides people with things — you know, like they do with the entire public school system.

Let me just logic this out though. Under communism, everyone has tampons, and that’s bad — so it’s better for some students to not have tampons than for them to live under the evil communist tampon regime, because if the government gives the students tampons, the government can take them away and then no one will have any tampons and will be forced to just free bleed all over everything in their wake. I don’t know, it seems kind of unlikely.

Or is she suggesting that this will give students a taste for communism and they will start to believe in crazy things like single payer health care?

I never got told that. But that was probably because by the time I got to high school the admin knew I had … friends… 😈 on the School Board. When I was the editor of the student paper they’d actually read my high sarc pastiche of Hunter S Thompson editorials 🤣🤣🤣 I think most of them took them as seriously as they were meant to be taken, thank goodness 😎

Biden could be indicted for a state crime, which he can’t pardon himself for. The whole thing would have to occur in D.C., and Trump is rarely there.

The Wall Street Journal’s story about Biden “slipping” is comically weak

Republicans and their right-wing media propagandists have spent the last four years smearing President Joe Biden as mentally infirm. That argument keeps exploding in their faces when Biden appears before a national audience in debates and speeches, but the president’s mental acuity is a frequent subject of media attention, and polls show voters are concerned about Biden’s age.

That’s the context for the 3,000-plus-word investigation that The Wall Street Journal published Tuesday night, which concludes that “Behind Closed Doors, Biden Shows Signs of Slipping” based largely on the complaints of anonymous Republicans who hope Biden loses to Donald Trump in November so the party can implement its agenda of tax cuts for the wealthy, restrictions on abortions, and political retribution. The Republican National Committee, Trump’s campaign, and the legion of MAGA supporters, eager for a subject that isn’t their candidate’s felony conviction, instantly jumped on the story.

The Journal notably provides no on-the-record statements from anyone speaking against their partisan interests. It would be genuinely revelatory if the Journal found Democrats willing to offer on-the-record comments about Biden’s mental acuity that remotely approached the public statements from former senior Trump aides describing him as “an idiot” who does “crazy” things and lacks understanding of basic concepts.

But the paper spent months conducting interviews with several dozen “Republicans and Democrats who either participated in meetings with Biden or were briefed on them contemporaneously” and came away with nothing like that.

Instead, the Journal uncovered negative anecdotes about Biden’s performance in three negotiations dating back to May 2023.

According to the paper, “most of those who said Biden performed poorly were Republicans.” Among Democrats, “some” — apparently speaking anonymously — “said that he showed his age in several of the exchanges” while others — often on the record — “found no fault in the president’s handling of the meetings.” And the Journal further acknowledged that “members of the Biden administration offered numerous examples of other situations that they said showed the president was sharp and engaged.”

The story gets even thinner upon closer inspection.

Everyone one of Gill’s followers could have sold today, or can sell tomorrow for a hefty profit. GME reports earnings next week. If they surprise to the upside then we might see another massive short squeeze and 100+ price, or maybe it’ll fall to under 10 again. I have no idea.

Republican Talking Heads Do Their Best To Make Hunter Biden Trial About Black People Subverting Justice

So, Republicans are already laying the groundwork for Biden to be acquitted. And it will be because there are too many Blacks on the jury.

Racist much.The rationale: The Blacks on the jury will nullify the verdict because they do not like how gun laws aer used against Black people. And a Black professor has said Blacks should nullify any trial with a Black defendent. And, somehow, Biden is a Black surrogate.

wow. NIce to see that they are beginning to see that Biden may well not be convicted. Look for Trump to go after the jury members if that happens.

Rex Heuermann, a NY architect accused of being the “Long Island Serial Killer,” was indicted today on two additional murder charges, bringing the total to six. You can read about it in the link below.

rollingstone.com

What I’d like to point out is this numbnut had enough computing devices to stock a Best Buy! Per the Suffolk County DA, Heurmann had:

* 15 kinds of cameras
* 27 computers
* 58 internal hard drives
* 22 “external solid” drives (SDDs?)
* 46 cell phones
* 9 wi-fi routers
* 44 SD Micro cards (incorrectly identified as “jump drives”)
* 17 tablets
* 42 USB devices (more likely the “jump drives”)
* 8 laptops
* 50 hotel cards (key cards?)
* 4 GPS devices
* 11 music devices (iPod type devices?)
* 36 SIM cards
* 33 miscellaneous items
* 647 CD, floppy disk or VHS items.

Dude was a packrat. Some of the contents of the drives are *disgusting*.

These were found in previous searches of the home, and one item found on one of the hard drives in the unallocated space (meaning, deleted but not overwritten) is being called the “planning document.” It’s a list of things a serial killer might want to do or have prior to their killing spree.

The other thing that came out of the press conference is that hair evidence found on the bodies of the two women Heuermann is accused of murdering was tested by two separate DNA labs and they both found it very likely it came from Heuermann. Interestingly, a female hair was found on the body of the woman who was murdered in 1993 and that hair is a close match for a person I have seen described as Rex Heuermann’s wife from 1991 to 1993. Not saying she was involved; she’d moved out of the house two months prior to the disappearance of the victim. But it’s interesting what could be laying around your house for months / years to come.

This isn’t a war on reproductive rights as much as it’s a war on WOMEN in general.

Pretty much all insurance does not cover elective abortions. The abortions that are covered are the ones which occur because the health/life of the mother is at risk and/or the fetus has died. This can be akin to *major surgery* or actual *childbirth* depending on how far along the pregnancy is. And to the asshats who believe that there’s never a reason for an abortion, I want to kick them in the nuts (because they’re mostly guys). I knew a woman (sister in law of a former boyfriend) whose fetus died in utero in the eighth month (cord got wrapped around the fetus’s neck). This was about 40 years ago, and it was a pretty awful situation. She had to deliver a dead, nearly full term fetus.

THIS IS WHAT THE GOP WANTS INSURANCE NOT TO COVER.

As everyone knows or should know, childbirth is expensive. If it turns out that you’re delivering because the fetus is dead or dying, or it’s a late miscarriage or an abortion to save the life of the mother, this is what these asshats are talking about. They’re NOT CHEAP. It costs *thousands* of dollars to give birth, and these dipshits want to make it even more of a pain to grieving women and their families.

No woman who is seven or eight months along in her pregnancy is seeking an abortion willy nilly. It’s because something has gone terribly, horribly wrong with the pregnancy and her life is threatened or in actual danger. These fuckers want to punish women for things that unfortunately happen, because pregnancy and childbirth is not puppies and kittens. /signed my mother nearly died in 1960 from preeclampsia when delivering me and it’s still a thing in 2024. /yes, I’m freaking IRATE.

All the Republicans who voted to defund NATO

Well, that’s a surprise. For a change all three Nebraska’s Republican representatives were on the correct side of a bill.

Marjorie Taylor of Georgia complained of all the money spent on NATO that could be used on the Mexican border. (Narrator, they would use it instead for tax cuts for billionaires.)

So if SCOTUS says that a President has immunity for anything done while in office, and has the power to pardon herself, what stops Joe Biden from scooping Trump up and whisking him to Gitmo to be waterboarded, then immediately pardoning himself and everyone involved?

Just trying to game this out by Republican rules.

They will craft this in such a way that it does not apply to Biden just like Bush v Gore was designed to apply only to that one case. Federalist Society hacks excel at protecting their own.

DeSantis high court majority: DeSantis can easily oust people’s elected prosecutors
The seven-justice, all-Republican-appointee Florida Supreme Court, including five Ron DeSantis appointees, expanded DeSantis’s power to overturn the will of the voters.
….

“…On a 6-1 vote Thursday, the Florida Supreme Court gave its governor all-but-unfettered power to remove locally elected prosecutors — a power that could quickly render Floridians’ “freedom” to “vote” for a prosecutor a fiction unless federal courts step in.

It is not the first Florida Supreme Court case examining the governor’s power to restrict elected prosecutors. And yet, Thursday’s decision — in light of the weakness of Gov. Ron DeSantis’s order suspending Monique Worrell from office as the state attorney for Orange and Osceola counties — is stunning for both its scope and potential consequences.”

The authoritarian right-wing of which DeSantis (and Trump et. al.) are part really do hate democracy.

That so many American voters are acting oblivious to this is disheartening.

Thankfully, there are many Americans who do notice these things, so not all hope is lost.

In California at least, abortion is considered basic health care and is covered by many insurance providers by law. That’s what Republicans want to kill.

Trust me on it, the fact that insurance companies are required by law in some states to cover abortion as basic health care is only protected by laws that the GOP is going to try their hardest to kill. Insurance companies don’t want these laws to exist.

The US would be better off if everyone had access to health care. Including dental care.

Simple things like cholesterol management and tooth infection mitigation can help people live longer healthier lives.

But Americans will not vote the way needed to achieve that, even if over decades it is much less costly than having people end up in emergency rooms or suffer work-destroying disabilities.

Are you interested? Pitch in any amount and you will be entered to win a trip out to LA to meet a pair of presidents, two movie stars, and one “poorly rated” talk show host. Every cent will help keep Donald Trump out of the Oval Office.

The only saving grace is that pregnancy is risky and costly to insurance companies (neither of which insurance companies like). Abortions for all would save them a ton of money.
