Boiling water. I fill my wife’s gumbo pot with water, bring it to a boil, and then pour it right on the mound. Gotta do it at night, when they’re all in there.

Kills the grass for a while - hell, it sterilizes the soil, but works like a charm, and it’s gratifying to see all those dead fireants the next day.

Yup, that works great. And no need to put nuclear waste, I mean ortho, on your yard.
