Like my old man (two years as a Marine in the Korean Conflict, 25 years an Air Force NCO) always said about Ike — during WWII, a genius; during his presidency, not so bright.

Still, Ike did and said some things right (the interstate highway system, the transition of the NACA into NASA, his comments on the military-industrial complex, etc.)
