It was not admired or appreciated. Armies in those times formed winter camp (Think Valley Forge, hopefully without all the misery) and didn’t come out until spring. Washington’s sneak attack was unheard of, unethical, immoral, and just not done!

Weren’t Americans the first ones to hide behind trees when firing on the enemy instead of providing a long line of targets?
