Sorry, I’m normally an Obama apologist, but there’s so excuse for wearing $500 sneakers to the store. If it’s a formal dinner or state function, by all means, go all out, for casual wear there no reason not to keep it inside the realm of what mortals wear.

So a pro sports guy should only were his 10K Rolex for formal events and not among mortals ? Where can he drive his Rolls ? No one has a right to tell anyone how to spend their money.

I have the feeling if the First lady showed up in a pair of $40 tennis shoes, the right would call it tacky way for the wife of the POTUS to dress. I find it refreshing that they both dress the way they want on occasion.
