Thanks for the correction. Down in places that have a high clay content, for example, the ground can be highly saturated and then form a barrier in the same way that unsaturated, baked earth can. Those are rarer, though, especially up here in the US.

When you have ordinary loose soil that gets oversaturated, it generally just forms a big sticky muddy mess, and perhaps mudslides— which are fucking dangerous as hell too.

I love nature, so why does it keep trying to kill me?
