I’ve advocated here before that everyone ought to kill something and eat it at least once in their lives, and that it ought to be something other than a fish - something with feathers or fur. As you say, it builds character knowing where your food came from, and that it died feeding you.

That is all fine and dandy, but 10 minutes in the slaughterhouse as an observer would be a much more realistic lesson that a hunting trip.
