Considering that both parties go off the deep end from time to time, it’s a good thing all around to have the Senate as a bit of a flywheel.

Our founding fathers had seen it all in Parliament and decided that senators, with six-year terms and responsible to an entire state rather than just a district, would serve that purpose. They nailed it.

I read something yesterday that said republicans could end up holding 60 senate seats after the ‘12 elections and the first thought that popped into my head was “oh shit, here we go again”.
