The compressions are supposed to be shallower for children, but only in an absolute sense. They're still supposed to be a third of the depth of the chest, right? That's pretty deep. Those "compressions" aren't moving the chest wall at all.
Others have also suggested that the guy is pushing way too inferiorly. I wasn't sure that I could make that call before, but now that I have a nice hi-res, stop-frame-able version, I agree with you. The guy is tapping on the abdomen, not the chest.
I don't think the kid is wearing a facemask. He has some sort of band-like thing across his mouth. It looks to me like the the plastic "ET tube securing band" thing that they often use on the show "ER", when there's an intubated patient, and they're trying to conceal the fact that the tube isn't really going very far into the mouth. I've never seen one in real life. Anyway, whatever the thing is, there's no tubing that's leaving it and leading to an oxygen source, don't you agree?

Off topic, but Baltimore's Mayor, Sheila Dixon, has just been indicted in an ongoing corruption investigation that snagged a council member last week.
You have to search long and hard to find any mention of her party affiliation in news accounts. Apparently, the missing "(D)" designation is now a journalistic standard when it comes to reporting on corrupt politicians of at least one party.

One of these Arab babies brutally stomped to death [pictured 2nd photo left] was reported to be one-and-a-half years old and upon his skull being crushed so that his brain matter expelled, the Israeli soldier were reported to have ‘screamed with delight’ that this babies death was ‘one less vermin we’ll have to fight in the future’.

That reminds me of when we sang songs from The Student Prince at a choir concert in college. The guys decided to embrace the potential embarrassment of singing "Come Boys, Let's all Be Gay, Boys" and sing it boldly, since they couldn't get out of it.

I took a nostalgia drive from Lake Merritt to Hayward a couple of years ago - down MacArthur Blvd. vs I-580 - then back on E-14th - and off and on a few blocks into local neighborhoods along the way. The number of Mosques - including former Catholic Churches now converted - I passed blew my mind.

Seattle P-I On the Sales Block
The Seattle Post-Intelligencer, which first rolled off the presses in 1863 and has been the state's longest-publishing newspaper, is up for sale. The newspaper's staff was called into a closed meeting today by Publisher Roger Oglesby. Present at the meeting was Hearst Newspaper President Steve Swartz, who told the newsroom that Hearst Corp. is starting a 60-day process to find a buyer.
If a buyer is not found, Swartz said, possible options include creating an all-digital operation with a greatly reduced staff, or closing its operations entirely.
In no case will Hearst continue to publish the P-I in printed form, Swartz said.
The first of many I'm sure.

Sorry, am also making dinner.

I don't remember what all she sang to. The talent there was really diverse. There was an older guy who did country/bluegrass tunes who was a real hoot. Sever different people did "Picture" by Kid Rock. Some people did rap. We had a good many patrons who were black. I only ever saw one person that tried to start a fight over race, and the black guy just ignored his shit. The dude doing the instagating should probably thank him. I was waiting for the first punch to be thrown, and then I'd have knocked his ass out before he even realized he'd been flanked.

Science lessons to stir debate
New arguments have erupted on how to teach evolution in Louisiana public schools.
Last year lawmakers enacted a law to overhaul the way evolution and other controversial science topics are taught in middle and high schools.
Now the focus is the state Board of Elementary and Secondary Education, which is required by the new law to come up with guidelines for local school districts that seek assistance.
An advisory panel set up by the state Department of Education has recommended guidelines that won praise from opponents of the law.
Barbara Forrest, of Holden, a professor and co-founder of the LA Coalition for Science, said the rules would block any efforts to inject creationism or intelligent design under the guise of science.

I'm not really sure what the thing on the mouth is either. I'm thinking it's some bandlike white plastic thing. Maybe it's an oral airway. "I know the whole family. I know them very well. ... [Mashharawi] is upset and angry that anyone would think of him having done anything like this. ... This is ridiculous. He's independent."
Raafat Hamdouna, administrative director at Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, said Friday that "Mahmoud Khalil Mashharawi, a 12-year-old, was brought to the hospital, and he was breathing, but he was hit in the head and all over his body by shrapnel. He died later in the hospital. He was treated by the Norwegian team. When he was brought in, he was breathing. The team did their best to save him. I am not really sure if they even tried to rush him to the surgery room, because he was badly hurt."

When she did the "you can't touch me, I'm a girl" thing, my buddy grabbed her by the throat and bounced her head off the wall. He said "Looks like I've got you, dragger to the door and thew her out into the parking lot.

Wow, that's huge. CNN is really upping the ante. They won't even admit that they pulled the video while they were "checking its veracity" or something like that:
The video footage appeared on CNN television networks and on CNN.com for 24 hours before CNN removed the material in the belief that it had no further right to use it. CNN, standing by the video, has since reposted it. Some bloggers had cited its removal as evidence that CNN did not stand by its reporting.
That sounds like a complete 100% through-the-teeth lie to me. "No further right to use it?" But I dunno, maybe it's true.
What's most interesting is this part:
Responding to accusations that the resuscitation efforts of Mashharawi's brother appeared inauthentic, Martin said that, based on his years of reporting from Gaza, doctors often go through such efforts even with little hope that a patient can be saved.
Are they admitting that the doctors were faking the resuscitation, but saying that they were doing it for the family's benefit, to make it look like they're doing everything they can? And neither the cameraman nor the editors were aware of this?

I would imagine that would do it for most men. Kinda like the thought of Michael Moore for women. SORRY FOR THAT my fellow women, the worst thing that can happen to us is the loss of a loved one, the second worst would be Michael Moore as a prospective mate. Is his wife sighted, BTW? She must be deaf and blind. Has to be. No woman could voluntarily bed that.
Even if she were, she'd have to deal with the sense of touch. And being flipped out of bed when he sits down on the other side.

Cnn and Paul Martin go back at least to 2003. This is a Larry King transcript "Aired April 12, 2003".
Let's meet a panel of experts now. In Kuwait City is Paul Martin, Chief Correspondent and Editor-in-Chief of "World News and Features." He's been covering the Mid East beat for "The Washington Times." [...] Paul, what kind of aftermath is this going to be like? What do you make of post war Iraq?PAUL MARTIN, "WORLD NEWS AND FEATURES": Well, good evening, Larry, yes. I think this is the most crucial period. Winning a war is one thing, winning the peace obviously much more important and, if I may say so, the coalition forces have not made a very good start of it.
The allowing, permitting in effect looting to take place on this grand scale, even the museum has been ransacked with 170,000 items apparently destroyed, the history of that great country, as well as hospitals, water facilities. It hasn't been, it seems to me, as well planned as it should have been.
The war has been brilliantly executed. The overthrow of Saddam certainly will benefit the region in my view enormously but to win the peace they need to win hearts and minds and the images we're seeing now are not going to do that.

BALTIMORE (Jan. 9) - Mayor Sheila Dixon was indicted Friday on charges that she accepted illegal gifts during her time as mayor and City Council president, including travel, fur coats and gift cards that she allegedly used for a holiday shopping spree.
A grand jury indicted Dixon on 12 counts, including four counts of perjury and two counts of theft over $500. She was also charged with theft under $500, fraudulent misappropriation by a fiduciary and misconduct in office.

But, I'll say it again anyway. The Left (with a huge sustained assist from the MSM) loves to come up with these little symbolic acts that connect them with the enemies of the U.S. None of them have ever been in the slightest bit of danger from the Bush Admin., but they have to pretend that they are bravely fighting oppression to justify their own ignorance and insanity. Mimicking a "journalist in occupied Iraq" gives them a vicarious thrill.

re: #295 ArmyWife
Wonder how long it took to come up with THAT cover story - how long was this down again?
I gotta say, if that's the story they're gonna go with, it's not a bad one. It would explain why the medical team did such a ridiculously poor job of faking a code. If they had been more authentic, then the boy, supposedly missing appendages and all, would be lying stark naked on a blood-stained bed, while a huge man mashed deeply and repeatedly into his chest, causing his little body to bounce up and down, his lifeless little limbs flying about wildly. Bag ventilation would cause his chest to rise up and down in a macabre imitation of the natural breathing that he was doing himself, just hours before. There's also this horrible honking sound that escapes whenever someone happens to squeeze the bag at the same moment while someone is compressing the chest, which happens frequently. The whole thing would be quite disturbing, to say the least, to an already-shocked family member.
In America, we don't let someone watch a family member being coded. But if I were going to pretend to try to resuscitate a boy for the benefit of family members who were watching, and who didn't know what a real code looked like, I might do a ridiculously poor imitation like the one on the tape, so as not to further upset anyone.
But I really don't think I'd let the whole thing be videotaped, and then released to the news media. At least, not without going on record as saying that I was faking it, in order to reassure the family that everything possible had been done. Because the boy was already dead on arrival, because the horrible Israelis so horribly attacked him with so much force, and the family was so upset, and everyone's so upset because the Israelis are so evil... etc... There would have been plenty of propaganda value in that too, and I don't see why Gilbert didn't do it.
I'm not quite ready to swallow this explanation just yet.

CNN will not care. They are buzzy bitching and whining about Pelen busting their chops when she told the truth. Hell, CNN would not even tell anyone who John Allen Muhammad is when The One names him to be the Director of the FBI! (think, "Weekend at Bernies")

I've not been in a strip club in over three years. I kinda miss it, but it wouldhurt my present girlfriends feelings, so it's best I don't go.
I've not been in one since 95. And my wife would for sure not approve of my dating any strippers (or anyone) right now. lol

re: #413 Iron Fist
But having a dead body sitting in the chair of the director of the FBI would be plenty difficult to keep secret?
Oh, never mind. I forgot that he may be on The Oprah show. She would interview him.

It appears that "Ron Paul" was the correct choice in this case.

I just voted Ron Paul and feel good about myself.

One of the choices should have been...
Defend video to the last breath. *while actors who play doctors on TV give the CNN fake CPR*

Not even a nod to the famous FBA** theory?
Because you just know that's their fallback position....

Wow! I can't believe that button says "God is Good. God is Gay!" Did anyone notice that it says "Gay Islam" at the bottom of the button. The script kinda reminds me of the 60s posters.

PS: I think Zombie is wonderful!

I am truly amazed there there are still scuzzball racists alive in this country. I live such a sheltered life. Where do they hide?
La Mesa, California apparently.

"Look, he is from La Mesa. That is about 20 miles from me. Most folks in La Mesa are on Meth anyway. Obviously the two braincells he has left collided."
LOL!

More like a small collection. That's not really that big an arsenal. I'll admit that I probably wouldn't go down to the airport with everything that I have falling out of my truck, but I have to wonder what law has he broken? Just owning a gun (or several guns) is not a crime. At least not yet.
I hope the dude sues the Police for a couple of hundred million dollars
California's weapons transportation laws are pretty strict. Transporting a handgun it must be unloaded (and case law states that a loaded magazine is a loaded gun -- I know ...) and in a locked case. An "Assault Rifle" must be transported similarly. Also stated is that you can only transport an "assault rifle" "directly to and from a place you are legally allowed to possess the weapon". He's at least afoul of the loaded weapon and "direct transportation" requirements. The local paper indicated he had an AR-15 (and it also turned out to be only 10 handguns and 5 rifles).

I know it is unwise to have a dissenting view here, but the reason I dinged down this thread and a couple of the comments is that I think it was hilarious to put Ron Paul as a voting option on every poll put up during the US Election cycle but now it seems to negate or put a humorous bent on what otherwise would be a serious issue, that is CNN duplicity and spin.
Perhaps I should not have looked beyond the word "Silly" in the heading.
