It already has.
The *spit* Moon landing denialists *spit* are naturally out in droves today, with a notably large infestation at Free Republic.
Moon hoaxery has yet to take on a solid political dimension but given the rabid anti-science and general stupidity of certain factions in the GOP, I would not be surprised if it soon does. How long before a GOP candidate or some minor office holder decides to test the waters with some choice weasel words, they might "support an investigation" because "questions have been raised"?
This would be pretty ironic historically, not that I would expect these idiots to know anything at all about that "suspect" field of study. At the time, of course, it was the political and cultural left that attacked Apollo, though few outside the drug culture were so foolish as to deny that it had happened at all.
I specifically remember the conformist hordes at some big pop festival booing and jeering when the news of the Moon landing was announced. (I thought for years that this was the Newport Jazz Festival but that can't be right because the 1969 NJF was a few days earlier than the Moon landing.)

You want insanity Charles? How about all the New Yorkers who think that 9/11 was a conspiracy - even among the millions who saw this first hand and in person and who smelled the rancid and metallic smoke from Ground Zero for months following the collapse of the towers, not knowing when the other shoe would drop.
It's so much easier to believe in the cold comfort of a conspiracy theory than to believe that Obama was duly elected. The same goes for 9/11 or the moon landings, or the JFK assassination, etc. Trying to wrap your head around those incredible events just doesn't work for the conspiracy nuts. Instead, they spend all their time trying to perpetuate the conspiracies - and it isn't a coincidence that those who believe in one conspiracy subscribe to others.
It's the nutters version of the GUT (grand unified theory of everything).

There have been a lot of conspiracies and a lot of secrets, but I know of no conspiracy that:
a. allegedly involved massive numbers of people and organizationaly un-related agencies.
and
b. Was maintained for decades on end in the face of purported public exposure.
and
C. That later proved to be real.
Enigma might qualify.

It's entirely possible someone's selling ham at that price. Grocery stores often run "loss leaders" because they know the kind of people that keep a close eye on that stuff (better known as Moms with Families) often spend $100-$150 a week on food, and getting their business is worth the small loss on the hams.

Not sure how widespread it is, as I have never heard of it outside of the cartoon series, "Anything can happen On The Moon (shortened to On The Moon)". Well, since the ham thing came up here, again, here's another purchase report from the USDA in 2007.
August 8, 2007
The Agricultural Marketing Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture today purchased 1,084,000 pounds of ham products at a cost of approximately $1,876,000. This product will be used for distribution in Federal food and nutrition programs.
Again notice the date, August 8, 2007. There's many more going back several years. Bottom line is that it was already part of Federal spending and put into the so called stimulus package.

First, I couldn't imagine how Rep. Mike Castle felt while being confronted by a nirther with such an intensity. As usual they tend to go to extremes and this birth certificate "issue" should be put to rest.
Second, it's interesting to note that Rep. Mike Castle (R-Delaware) was one of eight Republican congressmen that voted for the Waxman-Markey Cap-and-Trade Bill.
Mark Kirk is running for the Senate to take Obamas old seat.
He is really now dancing on that vote. He says that the next time that it comes around he will read the whole bill.
There , that's better.

I continue to maintain that the birth certificate is probably irrelevant. What I do not consider irrelevant is his affirmation of citizenship at age 18. He had 3 possible legal ways to go. He could have said he was an American citizen and afterwards traveled on an American passport. In that case he is eligible to be POTUS. He could have said he was a citizen of Kenya. I am not sure what the dual citizenship rules are here, so I will take a pass on them. He could have said he was a citizen of Indonesia and traveled to Pakistan on his Indonesian passport. At that point in time, there was no dual citizenship with Indonesia. He thus would not be an American citizen at the moment. The nationality listed on his college applications is thus very important. Likewise, which passport he used when he did his Pakistan visit. The college records should be released so we can put an end to this noise. The fact that he continues to embargo them lends some weight to the fact that he has something to hide. I am not sure he does, but 18 year old self-confessed crack heads sometimes do dumb things to game the system. I would not put it beyond Obama to have this skeleton in his closet. If he does not, he should put an end to stuff and release the applications. He can keep his grades secret if he wishes. Those are of no import as to his qualifications.
I regard the "smuggled in from Kenya" story to have as much credibility as the warming pan story of the Glorious Revolution. But the other facts of the case bear examining.

And then, you read about stuff like this:
One month earlier, Rush Limbaugh made the same remark on his radio show. “Barack Obama has one thing in common with God,” Limbaugh said. “Know what it is? God does not have a birth certificate either.” And Limbaugh may not have been writing his own material, either. At Patriot Depot, a conservative web site that sells books by Glenn Beck and signs designed for anti-tax Tea Parties, buyers can pay $10 to get two bumper stickers that read: “Obama & God Have ONLY ONE THING in Common: NO BIRTH CERTIFICATE! The Difference Is God Doesn’t Think He’s Obama!”According to a salesman for Patriot Depot, the company has sold “hundreds” of this and another birth certificate sticker since advertising them with the conservative opinion sites GOPUSA.com and Townhall.com.
You wonder if the Republican Party will ever be able to get rid of the taint. If anyone is up for making a third party that is center right and fairly libertarian, sign me up.
I'd say the nutcases are immaterial, but I think at some point someone is going to take some potshots at Obama, and all the enablers are going to sit and say, 'but it wasn't us who made him do it' and proclaim their innocence while their objectives are accomplished (If you want a recent example, just look at the murder of George Tiller and the reaction by Operation Rescue and their plans to buy George Tiller's clinic after his murder).

I have several of those for my kids. I have several of the long-forms. I can tell you, right now, because I was, you know, there, that all of those births were on American soil (California, Oregon, Texas) to an American citizen mother. It's just whatever the government sent when I sent a check in to get the certificate for the legal reasons my kids will need them.

Why produce the documentation when you can ignore it, let a segment of your opposition to waste its time focusing on an issue hardly anyone considers germane (or have accepted the vast amount of evidence debunking the issue without the final document) and a segment of the press (talk radio and the internet) report on the "controversy," while the vast majority of the populace just "tunes out" everything "political." All the while you push through the most radical agenda to change the United States economy since FDR (and is probably more radical than FDR) through the "white noise" created by this and other "faux" news stories (Michael Jackson etc.). Yep. Randall Terry, founder of Operation Rescue, just warned of 'violent convulsions' if the health care bill covers abortions. And he kicked off his campaign against Sotomayor in front of Tiller's clinic. What message is he trying to send? It's pretty clear.

I have one or two at home as I bet most of you do to. i'm not a troofer or a nirther, just a curious citizen.
You have one or two original birth certificates at home? Really?
Well, what if your Mother didn't take very good care of it, and lost it....Are you still an American Citizen? Wouldn't you apply for the registered copy and just show it?
The document Obama is showing is his real birth certificate, and HAS been presented outside of DailyKOS.
AND it meets all of the requirements from the State Department for proving U.S. birth and citizenship.
The head of the Health Department in Hawaii has confirmed that the original certificate is the same as the copy, and therefore Obama was born when and where his American family says he was, Kapiolani Hospital, Honolulu.
It has been verified by the state government official who is responsible for the document and it's authenticity.
The state created the document. That makes it his real Birth Certificate. It refers to where he was born as the county of Honolulu.
Hawaii does not, and has never created Birth Certificates that state the place the person was born as Honolulu, when they were not really born there.
In fact they have a rule specifically created to rule out this change of place of birth.
[Link: www.capitol.hawaii.gov...]
"The new certificate of birth shall show the true or probable foreign country of birth, and that the certificate is not evidence of United States citizenship for the child for whom it is issued or for the adoptive parents"
So the short form copy would not have listed his place of birth as Honolulu.
You might think that Hawaii Revised Statute 338-178 would have allowed that.
Well there is no Hawaii Revised Statute 338-178.
Now there is a section 338.17.8. But it covers certificates for those born out of state, not out of the country, and as per Hawaii Revised Statute 338.20.5 it does not change the Place of Birth.
But even if someone wants to argue about that, it doesn't matter because 338-17.8 didn't exist until 1982.

It is not up to President Obama to allow access to his birth certificate. He has no authority over that certificate. Birthers have an issue with Hawaiian policy (which seems to be the policy of other states, including California where I was born) of not giving direct access to long form birth certificates.
Obama should build a time machine and provide video evidence of his birth. And that would be simple. All you need to build a time machine is a pack of bubble gum, a Nintendo NES, some bat guano, and a Delorian. Because he wont take these simple steps it is clear he was born in Kenya or wherever.///

That certificate is "legit" as in "legal" as in "Obama is a certified America by birth in Hawaii".
You may be referring to the long form certificate (which Hawaii does not give out). It has no extra information on it that would prove/disprove Obama's citizenship that isn't already on the short form.
thanks for the article, I hadn't read it and it appears I might not be on the right side of this. However, I do believe nobama is purposely in place to take down America.

For a Republican to take Obama's old seat sounds like a challenge. Given his record there might be a chance. Also taking into account the fallout from Blagojevich, et al.
Reading these bills would be nice.
Mark Kirk is actually a good guy. He is a Reserve Naval Aviator who has seen active duty in the WOT.

My original birth certificate no longer exists.
It was destroyed by the state after records where convert to electronic.
I do have a photo copy (the real photo copy method not that new fangled Xerox shit) of the original, it is stamped and notarized as an "official copy" it was good enough for the USAF and security clearance.
I also have a modern print out on a laser form that looks like the same form Hawaii used expect with my state of birth seal, it was printed out from the state's database, and is a legal birth certificate.
It would be impossible for me to produce my "original" birth certificate. I do have two documents certified by the state which care the same legal weight as the "original."
Any nirthers out there think I am not a citizen?

Why produce the documentation when you can ignore it, let a segment of your opposition to waste its time focusing on an issue hardly anyone considers germane (or have accepted the vast amount of evidence debunking the issue without the final document) and a segment of the press (talk radio and the internet) report on the "controversy," while the vast majority of the populace just "tunes out" everything "political." All the while you push through the most radical agenda to change the United States economy since FDR (and is probably more radical than FDR) through the "white noise" created by this and other "faux" news stories (Michael Jackson etc.). For a discussion of this type of propaganda see Jacques Ellul, "Propaganda" 1965 (English trans.)

When I first heard of the birth certificate thing I wanted it to be true because of how bad I believe Obama's presidency will be for the country. However, once the state of Hawaii said they have a birth certificate on file for Obama the issue ceased to matter to me. Unless someone can come up with hard evidence the state of Hawaii lied about this, it's a dead issue.
How this can still be going is proof to me people believe what they want to believe, the facts and real evidence be damned. OK, that's one vote for letting the GOP become the party of raving kooks.
Perhaps those of us who are not raving kooks should consider a new party.
The GOP was a new party itself in its first election in 1858. Two years later, it elected a president.
150 years later, there ain't a lot of people who remember the goals and plans of the Whig party. Nor do they remember the goals and plans of the Copperhead Democrats.
This lack of knowledge needs to be addressed ASAP -- many of the current Democratic leaders can reasonably be called Copperheads. This includes our current president, who may be at the very least the second-most anti-American president in our history (the clear -- so far -- leader died as a member of the Confederate Congress).

We disagree on "how much" and "how negative" they ways America has changed since President Obama's inauguration.
Let's not argue about those.
Let's talk about what kind of force would be required to install a puppet in to the White House and why controllers of such a puppet would want harm to come to something they control so readily.
your right about the required force to install such a person but were the thought there initially, see saul alinsky and bill ayers, and they accidently fell into it, they have the ability to pull it off, see acorn, see nobamas patriot corps with funding as big as the military, see any number of things, and it could be done exactly as they are doing it.

Frankly, I don't care whether Obama is a citizen or not, though I'll presume yes. The time to certify that is before allowing his name on the ballots; after the election it is too late, folks. I mean, if we suddenly found out that FDR was born in Korea, would that mean that he wasn't a president?
The problem isn's that Obama shouldn't have been on the ballot, it is that so many American's voted for him, and throwing him out won't change the fact that more than half the country is open to radical socialist experimentation.

What happened? That natives got Small Pox? Certainly... That the White man used known infected blankets, supposedly to spread the disease? Even you state that it is not certain.
I am still calling it bullshit. That along with the story about the USS Liberty, and the OK bombing.... AS presented in that article as conspiracies that turned out to be true. I say at least these three are not.
Well, the letters written between the participants detail a pretty incredible plan to use smallpox infected blankets and handkerchiefs to spread the disease amongst the indians near Fort Pitt. In fact, one letter says "... we gave them two Blankets and an Handkerchief out of the Small Pox Hospital. I hope it will have the desired effect."
However, some people refuse to believe it occurred, thus the debate.
Unfortunately, Ward Churchill has now tainted this because of HIS LIES and HIS FALSEHOODS - the only reason for the debate, really, is because Churchill lied his ass off.

I don't know if what you say about more than half the country being open to radical socialist experimentation is true. Obama did not campaign as the radical socialist he seems to be governing as, instead he campaigned as a centrist. I recall several of his speeches where he sounded positively Reaganesque. I'm seeing some people who voted for him saying they would not have voted for him had they known what he was really going to be like. It's one reason his poll numbers are dropping like they are as more and more of the radical socialist behind the moderate mask starts to reveal himself.
There's no question there's a lot people who are open to radical socialist experimentation, though. And unfortunately, they are in charge with no one to restrain them. I figure the 2010 mid term election will be our first indication if the majority of the people are indeed open to radical socialist experiments, I suppose.

As it happens, I have two b/c's from the great state of Missouri.
The first is a photocopy of the original document, with a raised seal to show that it is a certified copy. I used this to get a passport in 1976.
The second is a certified summary of my birth information, printed on bank paper. The bank paper makes it certifiable. I got this a couple of years ago.
Both are absolutely valid proof of my age and citizenship.
The original of my b/c was microfilmed long years ago. The information on it was digitized relatively recently. What the state of Missouri chooses to issue is legal and valid proof of my age and citizenship.
The same is true of Barack H. Obama. If what the state of Hawaii says is his legal b/c happens to say that he was born in Hawaii, end of story. There is no story here. The Nirthers do not have a case.
In fact, the Nirthers are raising the bar on "utter fucking fool" by even mentioning this question.

Well think about this. You are completely wrong about the birth certificate issue. Perhaps you are wrong about the take down america thing as well.
Basically you really need to figure out the difference between Fact and Opinion. Even Evidence and Opinion might need some work.
It is your opinion that Obama is purposely in place to take down America, but you have no evidence or facts to support it. It is just a feeling you have.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but not to their own facts.
If Obama's agenda isn't to take the US down, by at least a few pegs, he's doing an awfully good job of faking it.
IMHO, the agenda of the leaders of the Democrat party is to destroy the American middle class, by any means necessary.

yes, the details do matter.
One detail being that he was an army reservist, not air force:

Another detail being that he was a volunteer and could revoke such, the Army rescinded his orders of deployment to Afghanistan on those grounds alone (not any sort of confirmation that the claims the officer made were legitimate).

Basically, you are claiming there is no absolute truth and I say that is nonsense. We get a close enough to the truth as is possible.
One truth: That wall will hurt if I bang my head against it.

RE: #342 1 US Sheeple
Here it goes, Obama has produced a birth certificate. It has been rejected, because it is not an original. It is however, a legal form of an Hawaai birth certificate. I was born in West Virginia. I am not certain that I would be able to produce any different form of a birth certificate than President Obama. This does not mean that I am not a U.S. citizen. This is why the burden of proof is always on the prosecution, because it is darn near imposible to prove innocense. If I told you that the universe was created by fuzzy purple bunnies, would you pray to them until somebody was able to prove this false. The answer is of course not. To show just how rediculous these claims are, not one has been heard, and avoided a quick tossing from court. There is no evidence to back up the claims made.
That being said, why not take this energy being spent on a foolish excercise, and use it to illustrate President Obama's complete incompetence? Why not use it to campaign and fight against his stealth movement of our country to marxism? Why not use this energy to fight against his dissasterous foreign policy?

How many military officers will be redeployed when they challenge the authority of their commander in chief.
Depends on how many are patently dishonest about the details of their "case". Orly Taitz and Maj. Stephan Cook set this ruse up from the beginning.
Major Cook contacted Taitz back in February 2009, saying he would like to join her class action suit against Obama because he was a military officer who didn't believe Obama was the the legitimate Commander in Chief.
Then, in May 2009, Major Cook volunteered for a tour of duty in Afghanistan. He was a Reservist.
One has to question why a Reservist who didn't believe Obama was legitimate would volunteer for active service.
Why? To set up this entire charade witi Orly Taitz. When his orders came through in June, he and Taitz immediately publicized that Cook was being sent to Afghanistan by an illegitemate Commander in Chief.
Fact is, he had no obligation to go, since he had volunteered. All he had to do was submit a request to have the orders cancelled. Instead, Taitz filed a restraining order agianst the military to keep him from having to go. The military finally got sick of this garbage and cancelled his orders themselves.
A day later Taitz declared "victory" and said this set a precedent for any soldier to question the legitimacy of Obama's military directives.
Nothing but a carefully orchestrated game to generate publicity, and spread false information.

While I appreciate your passion, I must insist you are way off your kidney. First off, I am a conservative. I just also happen to posess the ability to reason. Obama did not present a photocopy of a birth certificate. When he filed his candidacy paperwork, he produced a document which contained the impression of the State of Hawaii seal. This is a legal document according to any court in the United States of America. This document is used as a birth certificate for millions of Americans. How many times will it take to have courts all over America laugh your side out of the court room before you will accept this as being done. This argument of yours will not find any legs, or make any difference, except to have most Americans believing that all of us conservatives are idiots because of the few morons pushing this nonsense. No one with a legitimate claim has asked for access to to what is a private document.
Private citizens claiming "we have the right to see it!" does not constitute such a legitmitate claim.

No one with a legitimate claim has asked for access to to what is a private document. Private citizens claiming "we have the right to see it!" does not constitute such a legitmitate claim. Charles, So the presumption on LGF these days is that Republicans are, for the most part, irrational religious fanatics, but Democrats are sane, practical, and levelheaded? Why are you contending that this video represents the Republican "base"? Are you not panting with a rather broad brush? Where is the outrage over Obama's 30 plus czars, the lack of transparency, the short shifting of Israel on the settlements, the decision by justice not to prosecute those thugs in Philadelphia for voter intimidation, the politicization of the Census, etc.. The ratio of Republican bashing to Democrat bashing is probably 10 to 1 on here now. Why the dramatic change since the inauguration?

I think you need to read LGF on a more regular basis. Both parties are given equal time with respect to criticism.

He produced a "live birth certificate". That certificate only told us he was born in Hawaii. It does not provide the hospital, the doctor, the time. There has to be other information there about how the "birth certificate" was generated. Why does he not allow that to be made public.
FYI, several times in my past I have had to obtain my birth certificate (copy actually) from Pa. records. In each and every case it showed the hospital, the time of birth and the attending physician. I suspect that if he was born in a hospital in Hawaii it will also show much or all of that information. My personal belief is if he released the original certificate it will create more questions because it will not show the details. At the time of his birth Hawaii allowed people to obtain a certificate on their word so long as it was within a year of the birth of the child. At least that is my understanding of their law at the time.
To me all of that does not matter except he will not release the details and the only reason for that is there is something incriminating or embarrassing. Those that are insisting on it being released are in my view in the right. McCain released his.

As usual, when the thread starts to get old and they know they won't have to face as much opposition, the Nirthers and LGF-bashers come out to play.

Your understanding IS WRONG!

So, if I have doubts about Obama's citizenship, and I'm a Republican, that makes me a "Nirther"?
I look at it this way: If I have nothing to hide, I don't hide it. It's not nudie pictures that people want to see...

According to what I have read a person can have a "delayed birth certificate" issued so long as it is within the 1st year. As I understand it this was for births attended by mid wives or other personnel not affiliated with a hospital. I also understand that his birth was announced in two papers within days of his birth which would argue that it was not delayed. It really does not matter to me whether it is delayed or not, the only thing that peaks my curiosity is he will not release the original documents.
By the way I am not a conspiracy type person, Oswald acted alone, we did land on the moon, the earth is round, etc., etc. However, I find it troubling our dear leader will not release the original documents so I have to ask the question, what is he hiding.

After reading all the information in this thread and all the references to the evidence presented by President Obama that he is a citizen AND if you still have doubts about his citizenship, well, then -- yes, yes you are a birther.
I look at it this way: If I have nothing to hide, I don't hide it. It's not nudie pictures that people want to see...
You have been lied to. President Obama has released his birth certificate. It has been verified by independent third parties. It has been authenticated by the head of the hawaiian department of health.

You have been given misinformation. Obama has released his birth certificate.
[Link: www.factcheck.org...]
There are two types of birth certificates in Hawaii: the short form and the long form.
In Hawaii, when someone requests a copy of their birth certificate they receive the short form birth certificate with a seal embossed on the paper.
[Link: hawaii.gov...]
The long form of the birth certificate has more information on it than the short form (Doctor's name, maybe a footprint of the child) but none of the information on the long form that DOESN'T exist on the short form is needed to verify citizenship.
Also, in Hawaii, there is no mechanism to retrieve a copy of your long form birth certificate. Read that again: President Obama has no normal mechanism to retrieve a copy of the long form.
In addition, the head of Hawaii's Department of Health verified that President Obama's birth certificate is on file and the information on it coincides with the information on the short form certificate that has been released.
In short: President Obama has provided proof of citizenship. It has been verified by independent third parties. He is a citizen of the USA.

Read the thread before posting. In particular, search for keywords you are using in your message (in this case "live birth").
or here is a pointer: re: #209
FYI, several times in my past I have had to obtain my birth certificate (copy actually) from Pa. records. In each and every case it showed the hospital, the time of birth and the attending physician. I suspect that if he was born in a hospital in Hawaii it will also show much or all of that information.
What is true for Pennsylvania is not true for Hawaii. President Obama has released the birth certificate he received from the Hawaiian Department of Health that he requested.
My personal belief is if he released the original certificate it will create more questions because it will not show the details. At the time of his birth Hawaii allowed people to obtain a certificate on their word so long as it was within a year of the birth of the child. You are mistaken. The head of Hawaii's department of health has verified the long form birth certificate is in their records and that all the information on it coincides with the information on the certificate President Obama has released. The DOH and the governor of Hawaii have both stated "He is a citizen"
To me all of that does not matter except he will not release the details and the only reason for that is there is something incriminating or embarrassing. Those that are insisting on it being released are in my view in the right. McCain released his.
President Obama has released the only birth certificate he could from Hawaii. There is no mechanism in Hawaii to retrieve a copy of the long form birth certificate.
